Bruised and beaten, not by accident, I ran. I don’t know where I ran, I just ran. Running was never a thing I had liked to do, but for some reason at this moment I wanted to run, as far as I could possibly run. I ran until my legs collapsed underneath me, until my blistered feet could take no more, until the side of my scabbed face was resting on the damp dirt. The leaves rustled in the wind and the sweet, delectable scent of flowers caressed the field. I made it out alive, beaten, but alive. At this point, I honestly felt that I would rather die than run another step. What a great way to spend my 23rd birthday. I managed to pull myself into the shade of a large cherry blossom tree. It added tranquility to the horror trapped inside my …show more content…
Once again my drowsiness had overcome the strength of my eyelids and I fell into a deep slumber, swaying back and forth with the rustic train. The sunrise was magnificent, the birds chirped, the train creaked to a stop, and I gathered my few possessions and made my way downtown. There was a chill in the air, I had never been to a place so cold in the spring; in Texas the spring is much warmer. It was a good thing I had allowed my rugged beard to grow, for I would be much colder without the shaggy blanket covering my face. I wandered further into town, it was much more desolate than I am used to. There were abandoned shops lining the street and there was a small store that seemed open. As I got closer the shop on the corner, I realized it said “Luna’s Coffee Shop and Café.” I decided I was willing to spend the limited money I had on a warm refreshment. As I walked through the door I saw her. She was stunning, she was delicate, she was divine, and she was fascinating. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her delightful face. Her eyes sparkled even without sun and her smile warmed my soul even in the coldest of places. Her presence gave me the feeling of comfort and well-being. Just by looking at her, it made me want to learn more about this beautiful being. “Welcome sir! How may I help you?” she said with a smile on her extravagant face. I couldn’t think of anything else to say except, “Um... do you have coffee?” I felt stupid the second I said that. Of course she has
I would like to talk about celebration of my 36th birthday. October 20th was a regular Friday mooring for me. I was a bit nervous because I had the final exam of my Psychology class, I felt ready and prepared but tense at the same time plus the morning traffic was not helping at all, on my mind the only thoughts were “I don’t want to be late, I don’t want to be late”. After my exam I felt so happy, all my worries flew away, I knew I had done a good job, I felt it in my guts. My professor said good bye and that was it, no more stress for the weekend, I was ready to start the celebration of my birthday.
The morning sunshine seeped through the cracks between my shutters, lighting up my room. I could hear the clock ticking and the rays of sunlight bouncing off of my eyelids. I barely got any sleep last night because I was ecstatic that tomorrow was, my birthday! I jumped up out of bed, how could I have forgotten that it was my birthday? Suddenly all of my drowsiness turned it into excitement and I jumped up, throwing the red gradient quilt off of my bed. I slowly walked out of my room, making very little noise, checking to see if anyone else was awake. I peeked through the intricate staircase railings and tried to spot anyone downstairs, no one was in sight. I tiptoed down the cream coloured stairs, reached the bottom and got startled when my mom yelled, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”, her voice bouncing off the walls of house. A grin so big spread across my face, I couldn’t believe I was turning four years old!
Locking up the vintage, old, coffee shop once again was such a continuing feeling it seemed like it was becoming more and more of a habit each day I did it. I shut the door as the wind hit my brown thick hair, and walked towards my dad’s bridge with all of the inspirational words from him. Every Time I walked on the bridge it felt like I was getting more hope to go through life each and every day. After, reading some more of the inspirational words from my dad’s bridge, I finally went home and fell asleep.
Just as I said I would, I married Charles Baker Harris seven months after he properly proposed to me on my seventeenth birthday. I had no desire to ever move away from Maycomb, so we settled in a house down the street from my childhood home, where Atticus lived the rest of his life.
I remember it like it was yesterday, I had just turned twelve and my parents had decided to take me to California for a month to celebrate my upcoming birthday. We lived in a small town in Alaska so it wasn't every day we got to go somewhere else in the world. I was so excited as I ran to my igloo and started to pack. About two minutes later my mom knocked on the door and said, "Abby? Can I come in?"
I woke suddenly to the loud ringing of my alarm clock. I threw the covers off my body and slowly sat up, rubbing my eyes. A quick shock hit my body. I remembered that today is October 17; My birthday.
It was Saturday, April 27, 2016, and I had just woken up from a long, hard sleep. It was about 9:30 AM, and my arm was still aching from getting my annual shots the day before. Every year, I dread going to the doctor's office to get these shots. They make my body feel significantly weak, and they always make me sick to my stomach. It was the weekend of my birthday, so I was planning on having my friend, Melanie, over to have dinner with us and to spend the night. I usually have a big party to invite all of my friends to, but I just wasn’t feeling well enough. My mom said that it was fine for her to stay with us, and at that point, I knew my weekend was going to be great.

This morning, I woke up to my mommy, daddy, and brother, Jacob, pounding on my door screaming, “Surprise.” Was it my sixth birthday? Had I honestly not remembered today was my day to shine? No, I knew it was not my birthday. So, what could my parents possibly be surprising me for?

The day after my 9th birthday was unforgettable. It was horrifying. It all started on the day of my birthday. I was rushing out of the doorway tripping over my own feet just to get in the car. They were about the same age as me. I also picked a friend from school and her name was Madison.

I was born into the most normal, wonderful family a kid could ask for. My moms cared for me, loved me, and gave me all the support I needed. However, some people say that that how you were raised changes how you turn out. If that were true, I would be perfectly normal.
It was a beautiful sunny Saturday morning when I woke up on March 24, 2012, and most importantly it was my tenth birthday! I woke up to the waft of pancakes and freshly cooked bacon coming in from the kitchen. I got out of bed, and ran downstairs. I ran so fast that I tripped on the last step, landing on my ankle. But that did not matter because it was my birthday. I bounced in the kitchen flinging the door open. The first faces I saw were my mom, brother, grandma, and grandpa; mom was still in her nightgown from waking up so early to start breakfast for the special day.
' I can 't bare to tell them the truth, it 's, it 's uh, too, scarring. I fucking killed my own best friend, at her own birthday party too. ' That horrid memory has been eating me alive since I was three, 'Yeah when you killed her. '
