My hometown Bergenfield, New Jersey is like many cities in the north. Bergenfield is full of rich history and great food for visitors to partake in. The growth of Bergenfield began slow with small residents and then later started to form its own with the help of the state of New Jersey and New York helping to build the George Washington Bridge. When Bergenfield was discovered on June 25, 1894 by a railroad company the city was laid out as Bergen Fields stamped on the tickets.
The two major rivers, the Yellow River to the north and the Yangtze River to the south, were two major geographical features of Ancient China. As in previous examples in these case as well the major rivers were a great source of fresh water, food, fertile soil, and transportation. First Chinese civilizations were formed along the banks of the Yellow river. It was so ruinous at times that its ancient name was the “sorrow of China.” But without its water, early farming in northern China would have been impossible.
Our Town by Thornton Wilder continues to be a timeless theatrical work performed pervasively throughout the world. This play remains a modern classic due to Wilder’s ingenuity in capturing the quintessential expression of the life cycle. Wilder segmented his play into three acts; each act broadly encompassing a different phase in a person’s life. The play presents the audience with situations parallel to the ones almost everyone faces during their lifetime. This, in conjunction with breaking the fourth wall, allows for the audience to feel a part of the performance. The title of the play itself lends to this feeling, for it is not my town or your town, but it’s Our Town. This play emphasizes the idea that in the grand scheme of things, all
My hometown is Atlanta Georgia. I was born in Atlanta Georgia and I am grateful to have been able to have grown up in here. Atlanta is a very important city in Georgia because it is the capital city of the State and it is the most populated. The city was first named after Governor Lumpkins young daughter in 1837 named "Marthasville", but was changed by the chief engineer of the Georgia Railroad to "Atlanta". Right now I am living in my hometown and I wish to live here for the rest of my life.
The Himalayan Mountains as well as the Taklamakan and Gobi deserts isolated the Chinese civilization. This seclusion slowed cultural advancements from taking place in the region. Travelers did eventually arrive in China and brought with them new technologies and goods from outside the region. 1, 3
Based on document six, China is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean (to the west), the Himalayan Mountains (to the southwest), and the Gobi Desert (up north). These natural barriers helped stop foreigners from invading China, thus helping the civilization develop. Furthermore,
The story is set in a remote community named Wirrawee in a 21 century context. This is stated through out the book. “Lee lived in town, like Fi. "Lee and Fi, from Wirrawee" we used to sing.”(Ch 1. P15) This Town is rural and right next to a formidable mountain range. The author describes the town and its surroundings with in the book with: “Way in the distance you got glimpses of the rich farmland of the Wirrawee district, dotted with houses and clumps of trees, the lazy Wirrawee river curving slowly through it. And on the other side was Hell” (Ch 2. P19) Wirrawee is a country town with many farms surrounding it. It is a small tight night community who live directly next to a large mountain range which is quite mysterious and majestic. The
Experienced nine dynasties, a total of 1606 of years, until 1943, the county government was moved to "Canoe Mouth" (Hauzizui in Chinese, i.e. today's Songzi City). Millennium ancient city, though after the wars, famines, suffering vicissitudes, but by the early 1950's, everywhere were stone sculptures, such as stone Gods, lions, horses, unicorns, Shek Kwu, turtle, drums ...... A semester is a long period of time to be removed from your normal routine. Being away from my family and friends for the first time in my life, I struggled feeling comfortable in Italy. Slowly, as I explored my new city, I found places and foods scattered around the city that made me feel like “home”; a term that I realized is flexible and does not mean where you are from, but where you live, and this semester I have learned to live in the moment.
Present day China is an unlimited nation. It is the world's fourth biggest nation and is home to roughly 1.25 billion individuals - about a quarter of the world's populace. It has an awesome assortment of atmospheres and territories. The south is wet and tropical, with some downpour woods scope. North-west China is secured in desert. In the exact far north-east, near Russia, the temperature can drop to - 50ºC in the winter. In the west of China there are the Himalayas, with a percentage of the most noteworthy mountains on the planet. China's most minimal point is in the Turfan Depression, at - 154 meters beneath ocean level. The Turfan Depression is otherwise called one of the "heaters" of China due to its mind boggling warmth. The liquefying snows from the mountains in the west make the headwaters for two of China's most essential waterways, the Yellow River and the Yangzi River. The Yellow River gets its name in view of the yellow wind-borne earth dust called loses that is blown over the north of China from the steppes of Central Asia. The loses is blown into the waterway and gives it a yellow appearance. The Yangzi River is the longest in China and third longest on the planet. The Yangzi River waters the rice developing districts in the south of China.
The urban concept of living is somewhat different from the rural areas, the ideas of living inspired by the western culture, especially for the middle class society. Lakou are also seen in rural parts of the city where there are concentration of shanty’s.
Elvin separates his study into three sections. The first section is Patterns in which he illustrates the environmental history of China, describing some of the changes the country went through environmentally and economically. The author also explains the reasoning behind the title of the book. Four thousand years ago, there were elephants in the area that was later to become Beijing (located in the Northeast) – as well as in most of the rest of what was later to be China.
It is no doubt about it that everyone has somewhere that they have adapted to long enough to call it there home! A place they can relax and really be their selves, for some it may have been their grandparents house, aunties house or wherever they felt comfortable. Well I of course felt comfortable in my own home, a four bedroom house on the west side of North Miami. My home in Miami was perfect I had my own room, I was very comfortable there, and it was a place to get away from the world.
