I feel like my persona was sculptured and formed by my family. Everything they have taught me, I have kept with me for any obstacle that may come my way. My mom and my sister are the ones that are there for me the most and have taught me everything from respect to responsibility. I have learned to be a leader ever since I was young. An important person in my life that really enforced my leadership skills is my sister. Taking care of my older sister who has down syndrome did not only portray me as a leader, but I acquired a very useful trait that is patience. These characteristics have helped me accomplish my academic success by helping me get through tough times. Sometimes, after a long period of doing work, I get tired and it can get difficult
Leadership. It is something that everyone strives to achieve and is a trait that can affect every person in the smallest of ways. It is quite a unique feature, and one very hard to come by, with so many leaders nowadays in short supply. As I always like to say, “One million starts with one”. It only takes one person, only one idea, to revolutionize the way that one million people can think. A leader can open our minds and touch our hearts in ways we didn’t know possible. They can help shape the world with their ideas and the foundation of the people supporting them. Like I said before, true leaders today are in short supply. However, I can give this University a new type of leadership that has not been seen before.
Growing up, I realize the important leadership roles that should be recognized in every day life. Leadership is an important part of one's self character because when someone sees you as a leader they tend to grow more onto you so they can be like you. Part of this statement fits a powerful quote i've always lived by while being around others. "It is the men behind who make the man ahead," this quote by Merle Crowell, fits the man I've molded into, simply because I have realized in numerous ways on how my actions can impact other people's actions. My parents always raised me to believe that what you put in is what you get out. So of course, I believe that if I make the decisions to be a follower of the wrong path, then wrong will follow me as well. Instead, I choose to take the golden path and promote a better outcome for my future and hopefully other's also. Sticking to the routine of a leader builds you into an even better leader. Being a better leader, makes me a better man each day that I choose this route as the leader of my path.
Among society, there is a common longing for success. Success, however it is defined, is only achieved through leadership in some form. Whether a person becomes a public leader in his church, in his country, or simply a leader in his own life, it takes a leader to put in the effort to achieve one's hopes and dreams of success. Leadership allows a person to acquire the means necessary to meet a personal goal and ultimately reach this idea of success. Utilizing leadership skills is how I will achieve my goal of becoming a surgeon.
When I think of a leader, I see someone who stands out. I see someone who is courageous and wants to take the lead. I see someone who chooses to create there own path, rather than taking the one everyone else is taking. As I learn about the qualities and the traits of leadership, I began to self evaluate on how I see myself as a leader.
When leading troops it is essential for the leader to understand his or her command environment and how they fit in to that environment. For me, becoming an effective leader begins with this: How do I fit in to my organization and what can I offer my organization and the Soldiers that look to me for guidance. To become an effective leader I have had to address this issue first and foremost. My philosophy is simple, know the needs of the organization, know my personal strengths and weaknesses, and know my Soldiers. This is the philosophy that I try to pass to my subordinates. By knowing these three simple statements I have found that I can become a more effective team member as well as leader to both enlisted and officers alike who look to me for guidance.
There are various styles that create a strong leader. However, I believe that the best ideal way to lead, is by showing love. You can be motivational and you can be diligent, nevertheless if it accomplished without love it is done in vain.
A good leader leads from the middle and not the front. Leadership is working with people in order to complete a task, instead of telling others what to do. Delegating and helping others realize their potential and work to their strengths is what leadership is all about. Leadership is the ability to listen to others and show them the right path. I strive to be a leader in all I do. As a pharmacist, I will be the leader in the community and be able to help patients with their medical needs. While I have had times in my academic classes that I am able to step up and be the leader, I often use my leadership skills most in extracurricular activities. I have served as President of my cooperative house, where I learned so much from the constant leadership.
Throughout my short life, I have come to realize that a leader does not necessarily, although they may, maintain a defined position of leadership. A leader is one who will rise to the challenge even when the odds in opposition. A leader will tackle any barrier that stands in the way of the goal. A leader is willing to be hated and face criticism for doing what is right. Leaders come in all different forms, but a leader is the one who is always willing to make the difficult decisions.
Leadership is a skill that one is not able to learn based on a set teaching, but rather a skill based off personal experiences. I am the leader, everywhere I turn, everyone I talk to, from a school game to a class party – feeling like I am critiqued for everything I do and say.
Imagine you’re going on a hike through the woods, and after an hour or two you’re ready to head back, but as you look around at all your friends you realize no one knows how to get back. Being a leader means coming forward and taking charge, and figuring out the safest and fastest way to get you and your friends back home to safety. Many leaders have many different behaviors and ways that they lead. Many times my friends turn to me to make decisions about what we will do, where we will go, or simply where we will eat. My actions toward the situation define my leadership skills.
For me, I would consider my private self to be a bit more outgoing. My public self is a bit more cautious, and there are things that I wouldn't say if I was in public. I would consider myself an open persona. An open persona is "usually the most together and relaxed of the personas" (2006. pg. 1). By definition, I am relaxed and want to avoid conflict as much as I possibly can. Green (2017) describes today, "Leaders of today's schools build leadership capacity by developing a deep understanding of individuals with whom they work and serve" (pg. 49). My ideal leadership is the same as Green, as I think all students should celebrate their individuality. Knowing who a student is a person, will make it easier for the teacher to develop a plan for the student that needs more attention. Not every student learns the same; therefore, a teacher must
I can summarize my leadership in two words: adaptability and approachability. There exist infinite possible approaches to leadership, and there is not one single universal right. Throughout my career, I have encountered and taken note of the different leadership styles in my path and have come to realize that in order to be most effective, I must be adaptable to each unique circumstance. I have also formed my philosophy by taking into account what I consider to be toxic leadership styles. Toxicity leads to unapproachability and one cannot expect to successfully ensure the wellbeing of their subordinates if they do not feel comfortable discussing issues. It would be a feat to comprehensively cover every aspect of my leadership philosophy within
Leadership is defined as the action of leading a group of people or an organization. To me, Leadership is so much more. Leadership is a way to shape the future and improve your community. I grew up worshiping to my father’s soccer players, leaders like Trisha Krewson and Katie Burr. These girls taught me at a young age how to lead and strive to improve the world around you. To me, one of the best ways to improve your community is through helping shape the leaders of the future. These women worked with me and showed me the value of education, athletics, pirate pride, community service, and leadership. Through opportunities like helping with bitty cheer clinic, soccer camp, and student dance teaching I have lead young girls and helped mold them into young leaders. The best part of this is seeing girls that you taught at younger age taking the initiative to help lead the generations younger than them. I was inspired by older girls to become a leader in my school and community and I hope that my leadership has
I would like to start my essay with the reason I want part of TET. Leadership. Vision.
one of my significant traits that my friends describe me with it is hardworking because I am usually busy and I always pursue my goals to the end. I pick up this trait from my father who inspired me and had a major influence on me. No matter what, I will push through limitations and adversity to try and obtain what I want, and what is the best for my family. For example, When I was working as a technician in the laboratory, I showed up in my work on time and started my tasks rapidly without spending much time chatting with other employees. If everything assigned to me was completed, I looked for more work. Also, I did not leave my work until I was sure that I finished all my tasks. Several times I stayed late in order to be sure that everything is effectively and properly
