For instance, I am interested in particular subjects, such as Business and Applied Sciences, and would love to be able to study within these faculties while learning about something that captures my interest. I feel that by attending post-secondary, selecting and building a career would be much easier. After receiving a degree, chances of obtaining a good job with a well-established company will be greater and I hope to one day work as a software engineer for a major company such as Google or Microsoft. Another reason I wish to attend post-secondary is because I wish to help make a change in our world one day. Attending post-secondary will help me gain the knowledge and
How would you explain your choice to pursue a degree with APUS to a younger version of yourself?
After graduating from high school, I had a 14 year gap in my education. When I first graduated high school, I inherited a house that I needed to pay for and maintain. In order to do this I got a full-time job immediately upon graduating. For the next several years I worked first in a deli and then doing direct care for developmentally challenged adults. None of these jobs were very fulfilling for me so when I found a job that I really enjoyed, I stuck with it. I have been with my current employer for the past 12 years.
My scholarship allowed me to be awarded with an on campus job. Due to my dual-enrollment credit hours and my ACT score, I was given the opportunity to become an athletic study hall worker. I served as a mentor and personal tutor for the incoming freshmen athletes of the university and supervised their academic study hours. All of the athletes were required to attend study hall 8 hours a week. Just like my first class of freshmen athletes, I was also new to the university. This experience was very beneficial for me in that I was given a very important duty at such a young age. I had to learn to keep control of my students as well as ensure a conductive, comfortable learning
I was born in Novokuznetsk, a small city in the Siberian part of Russia. Life happens, and my father left us when I was only a few months old. Being a single parent, my mother had to work hard to raise me and to give me everything that was in her forces. Since the earlier childhood I had realized that if I wanted to change something in our life and become successful in the future my priority task must have been getting a good education. It was absolutely clear that, being an educated person, I would more likely become an advanced professional and achieve my own goals in career and personal life. The 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, once
My plan is to pursue a Master’s Degree in Computer Science with a focus on Computer Security part time at Portland State University starting in January of 2016. My motivation for seeking a masters degree is two-fold: first, after years of self study and independent research and learning, the depth and rigor provided by a graduate level academic program will significantly solidify the skills and knowledge I have gained. Second, the in-depth knowledge that comes from a graduate level program will prove invaluable in furthering my career. Both my current position, Mobile Security Engineer at Nike, and any future security related positions stand to benefit from a graduate program. My current full time employment in a security related position is what shapes my decision to enroll in this program part time. The combination of my academic preparation, personal interests and research, and my current and past employment give me the knowledge and experience to excel in the program.
The fact that there are so many engineers in my family, had inspired me to take up electrical engineering. Right from childhood I was very engrossed in finding out alternative solutions to real life problems. Gradually, I started building interest in the logic behind the working
The preferred subject of interest is Electronic Systems Engineering. Linking this post graduate program to the undergraduate degree I acquired, I surely found this course is a combinational package of all skills, abilities and competences that I will be possessed after successfully completion. Interestingly, it contains perfectly every module which I intend to undertake at this level of degree. Moreover, not only it focuses on one-core-side of Electronics but both sides’ analogy and digital combined with specialization in control and micro-electronics the two areas I aim to mostly focus on. Main influences I had in relation to this selection were from past classes in electronics and control systems, projects I conducted and encountered through engineering events, seminars given by various electronics specialists and even other colleagues with the same area of interest.
Through semesters of learning I came across different exciting courses like VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, and Wireless Communications where I learned varied aspects such as VHDL Coding, small scale microprocessor architecture and CDMA techniques. These courses not only provided much insight on the current technologies but also steered my interest in Electrical Engineering.
When I used to come across with articles on technologies, it always used to draw my attention. In last decade technology has significantly changed the way people communicate. As more businesses use technology to communicate,. In today 's competitive environment , every company 's main criteria is to know more about lean/six sigma and such methodology to help in attaining smoother operability and optimum results for better customer satisfaction. IT was always a curiosity for me that how people are connected with each other in the big world. How it is so easy to message a friend in an instant with modern devices. My curiosity grew and my utter interest & high scores in subjects like maths and science made me take a decision on opting electronics and communication in my engineering. It is a field rich with opportunities. Therefore, I decided after schools to study engineering. And learn the basics of technology.
Inspiration and guidance make a good disciple. Apart from professional schooling, my mother, a graduate in computer science always told me about new trends in computer networking and helped me develop an interest in this technology.
