Sophia Cajigas Ms. Milliner CUNY ELA EES21QH-01 30 September 2016 My Future Career While preparing for this essay I realized that a majority of the career paths I want to go down involved a similar theme, fashion, and creativity. After further assessment of my chosen paths, I feel like my personality and the way that I work would be better suited for a business of my own, rather than working through a company like Sephora or Avon. I know I’d be more comfortable working in a place where I can choose which brands and techniques I use on clients, rather than a job where I’m forced to use certain items that I don’t completely trust. Using tools I’m comfortable with and using my own creative energy, aside from someone else 's, would make me feel happier with my work. Although I’ll have to work with clients in the future, I know that having that baseline will make my work all the more satisfying. I don’t personally have anyone or know anyone in my family who has a career quite like this, I know a few people who have either done this for a career either as a way of living or as a stepping stool to launch their own business. One of the people I’ve researched is the drag queen Miss Fame, also known as Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen. Kurtis started his career as a male model in California, soon moving to New York and becoming a makeup artist. At the same time becoming the drag queen Miss Fame. While in New York he did his own, along with other people’s, drag makeup. After an appearance on the

Since my time in my current career field I have seen many broken processes, some that are more severe than others. When processes are broken people can get hurt or even killed. This is why the most important concept for me in module 5 is Management by Example Active. This is the most important concept to me because of the severity of my career field. Within my job we handle and load live munitions on Aircraft’s on a daily basis. Not only do we perform this task while deployed but we do it at home around the civilians we want to protect. This task requires constant active supervision and technicians that will follow instructions precisely. Per our required reading in Chapter 7, page 204 “MBE-A exists in structured system with detailed

There was an eerie silence as I took the stand. As a witness for the defense, sitting in the Old Courthouse in St. Louis, I was unaware that my life would change. For the first time I became exposed to law.
have always had the passion to be a business professional. I have decided to major in accounting to get a career path in auditing. The CPA profession gives me the power to put an end to white collar crime. Through the tighter regulations by the Security Exchange Commission and the integrity and honesty of a CPA I believe this can be achieved. Also, I chose auditing because it is sort of a social career since one gets to meet with business executives, clients and other divisional auditors. I am interested in keeping track of payments, financial positions and the transfer of capital or income. My ultimate goal is to be a Certified Public Accountant and own an accounting firm. I would love to own a firm that will provide audit, tax and consulting services at an affordable price to the public. In order to own a reputable and respectable organization, you need to be a CPA. Being a CPA in today's competitive business environment, gives one an edge and a distinction over business competitors. The CPA which is a vital part of any strong business or organization is the most respected and valued credential in the financial community. Another reason for me wanting to be a CPA is the prestige and respect that comes with it. Being a CPA transcends one above
The specific career field that I was thinking about going into recently and spending the rest of my life dedicating time to is an OBGYN (obstetrics and gynecology). OBGYNs help out women during their pregnancies and also help treat several disorders that they might have occur with their reproductive system and such.
When I graduated high school and entered my bachelors program at Cal Poly, Pomona I had every intention of attending graduate school. I was ready to be a life-long learner that would find a way to make a difference in the community. Nothing has changed since then, I enjoy school. I love going to classes and interacting with new content and then creating products from this content that is mine alone. What has changed since then is the focus of my classroom curriculum. I was determined to be a veterinarian, then bounced to a different major and was set on becoming a researcher. Everyone around me was becoming a teacher. I was determined to do something different. My senior year all of my hard work was starting to pay off when I secured a job with a researcher in Washington DC with the FDA seafood division. This was my dream-lab work in a large agency contributing to research. I served my internship with the FDA and was completely determined to find something else. I was seriously doubting all I had focused on for four years, but I had to be sure. So I got a job with the EPA and decided maybe field research and regulation was more my cup of tea. After two
The textbook assigned for this course highlighted many important lessons that will guide me in my future as a professional. This course allowed me to learn about many companies who were affected due to the lack of ethicality in their culture and employees that will eventually lead the company to misstate its financial statements. Given that the name of the course is “Ethics in Financial Reporting and Accounting,” I think this book gave an excellent overview of how to avoid financial troubles when working for a public company or a professional services firm. While I think every chapter provided important ethical concepts to be taken into consideration when working in a professional career, some moral lessons caught my eye as I learned about them while I read the textbook. These five lessons include identifying ethical blind spots, avoiding motivated blindness, tone at the top and independence, ethical conduct and its effect on financial statement fraud, and the importance of ethical standards and cultural values when engaging in global business. I think these five lessons are the most valuable ethics lesson that will live on with me forever into my professional career.
There are many career paths to be taken when trying to decide what would best suit my skillset, but when you know your personality type it narrows those multitude of career paths down to what most others with your personality would be successful at in the job world.
Careers had always been the number priority in my mind since I was a kid. I wanted to grow up fast and get a career as a lawyer. I never thought about the educational part of it. When I had graduated from Elementary and Middle School, I thought it was nothing. Being in school was easy, so I never understood why people dropped out or they never got to pursue their dreams. It wasn’t until high school that things started to slowly fall apart. I did not have any short or long goals to work towards, so I started to slack off. If I had received a C, then it was “whatever”. I was still unsure what career I wanted to enter because I was too busy not caring. My sister knew that I love helping people when I can and expect nothing in return, so she told me about field that she could see me in: psychology. I immediately got hooked on it because I was curious about how the brain works and why people do the things they do. During my junior year, I had told my sister that I am going to be majoring in psychology and will be attending San Jose State University for my degree. In my senior year, I was able to attend a psychology course as part of an elective. I got bored of it the first few weeks because there was too much science and scientific terms. I wanted the class to be more realistic where we pretend to be psychologists and help patients with psychological problems.
Choosing a career path is a bit like playing pin the tail on the donkey. Possible outcomes include: The player could become dizzy from the countless directional choices, wander away from the primary target, or forge ahead with confidence toward the ultimate prize. Fortunately, the last outcome reflects my path to my dream career. I discovered at an early age that I was interested in the field of medical science. Although my decision has evolved some over the years, I have never wavered in my general opinion that my career path will lead me into the medical field.
When it comes to thinking about my future and the different careers I would like to be in, I have a very difficult time deciding. It’s not like picking a place to eat when I am hungry, it’s an important decision for me and my future.
I have chosen a career as a paralegal. This is a field that I expect will be both challenging as well as professionally rewarding. As a paralegal, I will assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services (National Association of Legal Assistants, 2008). A career in paralegal studies is a prestigious, professional adventure and offers a wonderful opportunity while enhancing ones knowledge of the law and provides for challenges, growth and advancement.
I have always been thinking about my future, building a career, becoming a successful person and generally finding my own path in the life.
