The activities completed in REHB 6050 consisted of three assignments. At the start of the semester, the first assignment was a one page paper which described our position on our personal code of ethics. The paper was written in the first person and was to follow a clear line of reasoning, and comply with APA 6th edition grammar and style rules. At the end of the semester we were to, once again, write a paper on our personal code of ethics so that we could see our maturation in knowledge and values in contrast to the beginning of the course. We were also assigned the task of recording a three minute video in which we would describe and defend an ethical canon to an assigned fictional client. Based on the client we received, we were to use appropriate language and one analogy or metaphor to help explain our canon.

Before the first paper I had never considered my personal view of ethics. By writing the first paper I was able to understand what ethics meant to me and then, throughout the course of the semester, I was able to adjust my beliefs to a more educated stance on ethics. In writing a second paper at the end of the course, I was allowed to see how much my definition of ethics had evolved and how

A code of ethics is defined as a set of principles, values, beliefs, and rules that define the conduct of a person. In my code of ethics the primary principles are integrity, respect, and empathy. I have always lived my life based off of theses three principles. Sometimes it feels challenging to live by these principles, but I always remember what my parents have taught me and I get motivated to keep living off these principles. My parent’s happiness matters a lot to me and that helps me stay motivated. I would never do something that would upset my parents or make them ashamed of me. They have given me everything I ever needed in life and taught me everything I know today. My decision making process revolves around how I feel about a particular situation because every situation has a different solution. So my decision making process is Intuitive because it depends on my perspective on that particular situation. My decision-making comes natural when I am put in a situation to make a decision. Also making my parent proud and respecting them helps me stays motivated to do the right things and follow my personal principles of integrity, respect, and empathy.

The following will describe an ethical issue in my own area of study as well as provide a moral response. It will be inclusive of two moral theories might respond to the issue and provide an explanation of how the principles contained in a code of ethics for my discipline relate to the issue.
This was highly achieved through familiarizing myself with the National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics to guide my day to day activities as a social work student. On the other hand, the knowledge gained from the code of
Both the personal and professional Code of Ethics are, as we have noted, a guide to behavior, decisions, and the ability to perform one's job in the most positive manner. The use of these codes, I believe, will help make it easier to act and react within given situations within the criminal justice system. With each incident or occurrence, one needs to ask how the particular event fits in with the guidelines in the code and then act or react accordingly (2004).

One thing that has changed in my approach to ethics since the beginning of the semester is I am now adamant that it is impossible to arrive at a final answer to ethical questions. Learning about the different approaches to ethics has caused me to see that there can be more than one “right” solution to ethical dilemmas. Therefore, if an ethical question is raised, everyone will arrive at a different solution depending on which approach they take.
Everyday individuals are faced with issues associated with ethical dilemmas. Ethical dilemmas involve an individual’s behavior toward a moral standard, which may have been established from previous generations and passed along. In upholding the standards taught individual may be forced to take a particular action involving a decision when a behavior is considered non-ethical is when an ethical dilemma occurs. "Our results indicate that the informal methods ("manager sets an example" or "social norms of the organization") are likely to yield greater commitment with respect to both employee attitudes than formal methods ("training courses on the subject of ethics") (Adam, et al, 2004).
This is my last journal for this course; I will be reflecting on what I’ve learned so far. When I decided to take ethics as my elective (I’m a computer science student), I thought that I would be learning something like civics of my high school. However, I was left enchanted by the depth of the course and its coherence with ancient philosophy. I will certainly be reading the remaining chapters and make myself better aware of ongoing ethical issues.
