My Leadership Philosophy Leadership is a privilege that carries the responsibilities to inspire, mold, and teach others as well as to attain the vision and the goals of our organization. Real Leaders are strong in their belief, and they belief in what they are doing. Faith and belief comes from the inside. Throughout my career, I have always tried to live by the Army Values. Based on my experience in today’s Society, I am a true believer that everyone deserves to be treated as they wish to be treated. Using this rule as a guideline will help you earn the respect of your Soldiers. Treat others with dignity and respect. Soldiers do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. Being a leader can have many different definitions depending on the person. Leadership can be an overarching umbrella over many traits. Leaders possess the ability to be trustworthy, honest, and confident to name just a few. Leadership can be used throughout all aspects of life. Becoming a leader has been a big part of my life thus far. Many steps have been taken to educate myself on the roles and traits that a leader possesses. Learning leadership can be a process, but I took to it right away. Teachers and parents are just a few of the significant people that show leadership skills and impart them on others. Leadership has been taught to me by many different people, and I plan to use those skills to help the future generations become great leaders.
Among society, there is a common longing for success. Success, however it is defined, is only achieved through leadership in some form. Whether a person becomes a public leader in his church, in his country, or simply a leader in his own life, it takes a leader to put in the effort to achieve one's hopes and dreams of success. Leadership allows a person to acquire the means necessary to meet a personal goal and ultimately reach this idea of success. Utilizing leadership skills is how I will achieve my goal of becoming a surgeon.
My personal leadership philosophy describes who I am as a Soldier, a Non- Commissioned Officer, and a man who serves his country proudly. As a leader, I believe that all members of my team are important. As a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, I believe, as the NCO creed says, “Non-Commissioned officers are the backbone of the Army.” It is very important to know your role as a NCO and fulfill all of your duties and responsibilities inherent in that role. We can all contribute to the mission and we have to understand that no one job is more important than the other. Teamwork is always provided in my leadership philosophy and if we all work together as a team we will all have the ability to make a positive difference in each other lives. 1. I believe a true leader, leads from the front. A leader is the first in all, showing the way, sets an example to all. A leader is trustworthy, loyal and approachable. A leader will support policy and always do what is right. A leader is looked up to and promotes motivation. A leader will take care of his crew, from his most subordinate to his commander. A leader knows when to allow others help and looks for innovative ways to improve. I would follow this leader and I wish to be this leader.
Throughout my life, God has been working in my life to prepare me for a life of godly leadership. He started off giving me small responsibilities which quickly grew to be leadership opportunities. I believe that everything I do ought to be my best for God. As a Christian, I have strived to work harder in school and in ministry than my peers so that God would be glorified through my work. As a high school student, I was blessed with the opportunity to lead two robotics teams into competition on the college level. He has given opportunities to lead on the mission field and in the states. Since the Time of my salvation, God has been preparing me as a leader through my ministry experiences and academic pursuits.
Since I was in elementary school, my parents and teachers have encouraged us to be leaders in every activity. When I prepared for to application of universities, my advisors told me I should emphasize my quality of leadership to attract admissions officers. Is leadership so important for all people to be successful? What will happen if everyone desires to be a leader?
To me, it is important that you give back what you have gotten from people around you, your community, and your school. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to help others, meet new people, and also learn new skills. In one of my volunteering experiences I was able to not particularly, learn but build on my leadership skill. Leadership to most, is an arbitrary term used to define a person’s ability to direct a group of people. But what most don't know is that, leadership is not only one type of person, and the traits of leaders differ depending on each person as well. However, even with this being true, all leaders better their environment and maintain a positive environment in which makes working in a team more efficient. One example of leadership and it’s traits accompanying it as well, would be when I partook in a final exam review for psychology at Houston Community College and helped college students prepare for the exam.
A leader by its meaning is one who goes first and led by example, so that others are motivated to follow. To be a leader, a person must have a deep rooted commitment to the goal that they will strive to achieve even when nobody follows! This definition is not even half the meaning for a leader especially for my leader this meaning does her no justice. My leader is an award winning writer and communications professional who leverages extensive media experience with a solid writing/producer background to develop and execute content that increase engagement and heightens awareness. She is a highly effective story teller with proven track records in launching creative initiatives that appeal to large audience and are completed within tight deadlines
Who I am as a leader is derived from my personal fundamentals of leadership. The essence of leadership is having the following character traits: integrity, showing mutual respect, inspiring people, setting vision, making decisions, owning the failures, sharing the accomplishments, leading by example and never pressuring anyone into unethical actions. To me, at this time, those qualities are what make a leader. However, I am not that leader today, it is what I aspire to be. Before revealing the leader I am today, I will explain where the fundamentals, listed above, originate.
Leadership is an indefinable word. There is no definitive leader because every single group needs a different leader. For example, a group of children need a different leader than a group of adults and a group of rowdy people need a different leader than a laid back group of people. A leader needs to be constantly adapting to each and every situation, assessing every little reaction and changing their approaches. As well as being constantly adapting, a leader is constantly learning new ways to handle a group and gain their attention. Leaders need always be flexible with their methods, always be ready to learn new methods, and ready to be proven wrong.
Being a leader is no easy task. A person needs to be able to overcome their own obstacles if they want to be able to help others overcome theirs. My ability to be a leader is still not fully flushed out due to the fact that even though I can overcome my own struggles/problems, it's much more difficult for me to try and lead others past their's. This is why I am very interested in the Leadership Program. Austin is a huge city but unlike many large cities, its people prefer to work together, they aren't big fans of the "every man for himself" ideology. That of course means that the city and university themselves will have countless opportunities for me to try and smooth out the rough edges of my leadership skills. But I
Being a leader does not necessarily mean having a big title. A leader is someone who has a positive attitude no matter what issues are passing by. Not only is it your attitude towards issues but towards people too. How can you expect people to follow when you know what to do to solve the problem but you don’t know how to lead the people? Being a leader is not a simple task, but it is not something you choose to be, it just comes naturally.
I define leadership as the ability to seek out and empower others to influence their generation and society for the greater good. A leader is a mentor. To me, a leader is someone who helps themselves and others to do the right things. They are people who build an inspiring vision of the future, motivates and inspires people to engage in that vision. They lead and work with others so that it is effective at achieving the vision. Leaders also set directions. They practice in the act of planning things out and leading a group/organization. Leaders have high management skills to guide people to a successful future, in an efficient way. Leadership is also the ability to see a problem and be the solution.
Leadership is when a person or many people step in a challenge. They are willing to take charge of the situation and help others on the way. They allow themselves to take a chance with other people and situations. Leadership is when someone follows someone who is educated and well experienced with the problem. Members of the leadership will see the vision of the whole objective, they will fix any conflict between the group or situation, and leaders are looked up to for knowledge, information, wisdom, and plans.
Leaders strive for the best in their organization and work hard to become successful. My leadership philosophy may be different from others, however, it may be effective as others. Leadership can be learned and practiced. I consider if you practice with ethics in mind then there will be no issues with your followers or organization. Leaders that practice unethically are often viewed in a negative perspective and often ruin their careers. Great leaders are hard workers and assist in improving the organization. Some are natural leaders, however, it has been stated leaders are made.
