Most people will say that our past does not define who we are today. I disagree with that because t without our hardships in the past would not you be the same person we are today. Either if we have changed for the better or worse, as I look back at my educational career as a whole the relevant and constant people in my life have influenced me to do better in school while my actions were not always the best making me change my ways. My educational experiences were always good from what I remember. This also includes my family, they have always helped me along the way to do whatever it takes to make sure I was always okay mentally and emotionally. Always keeping me to stay sane, such as, when I was terrified about what I was going to do when I got a bad grade on an assignment. They just calmed me down and just taught me that I can do better the next time and with that practice makes perfect. No matter what teacher I have had or any class I have taken they were always so encouraging. When I thought about giving up on my projects, they always pushed me to do my best because they have always seen the potential that was hiding in me which ended up in me redoing assignments for a better grade. One of the many teachers that were the most influential in my life was Mr. Leonhardi he stood out from the rest. He did not only make me believe in my writing but furthermore made me believe in myself. Furthermore, as Mr. Leonhardi was a great teacher and was such a huge impact in
My educational goals were to get a certificate in Health Information Technology as a certified coder. But I change my mind and decided to get my associates degree because it provides me with more opportunities in the field. I can choose many different careers such as health information analyst, insurance claims analyst, records technician specialist, etc. With this degree I can improve my family financial situation and be an example to my children that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything.
Being a college student is not all about gaining from each endeavor encountered. There are gains and loses simultaneously. As a student develops in his or her academic career, the student eventually learns that priorities have to be put in place. Being a well-rounded individual can be very difficult as a STEM student. For this reason, my personal academic goal is to be a well-rounded student and individual. A well-rounded student can be defined as a student with a minimum of 3.7 GPA with a role in at least one extracurricular activity. To achieve my goal in becoming a well-rounded individual, I would like to develop, to the best of my ability, excellent study habits, soft-skills and self-discipline in all areas of my life. I strive to attain this personal academic goal.
For my educational plans, I have a clear understanding and vision of where I want to go and who I have the desire to be. For now, I would like to graduate with my Associates in Arts degree in Nursing from Indian River State College. I believe Indian River State is an excellent place to begin my journey and recieve my education in order to better prepair myself for what is yet to come. After I recieve my Associates degree from Indian River, I plan to transfer to the University of South Florida in order to extend my education and potentially recieve my Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in Nursing.
An experience in a biomedical research will help me to succeed in my long-term educational goals. My long-term goal is to attend a MD-PHD program at a Medical School. As a scientist, I would like to study the genetics of disease causing organisms and human genetics. Currently, I am studying Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, which I think will equip me with a knowledge of human biochemistry. However, since undergraduate schools mainly focus on theoretical not the practical application of most subjects, I need to participate in a hands on research project over the summer because It will give me an opportunity to apply my knowledge in a laboratory. This is when the summer research program at the University of Maryland school of medicine
I am in the 49er rebound program because of the events that happened during the spring semester of 2016. I transferred to UNC Charlotte from Sandhills Community College and came in as a sophomore. Because of the fact that I came in the middle of the school year, I was unaware of all the on campus resources that are available to me. Long story short, I ended up on academic probation and am in this class in hopes of getting off of it while obtaining new positive academic habits.
Going to college has been a dream of mine growing up. I am the first ever in my family to go to college but figuring out how to pay for it has been a challenge. I desire to achieve my academic and career goals and this scholarship can help me succeed in my journey.
Life is a continual learning process, which requires a strong method to develop better ways of apprenticeship. Personally, being able to obtain a higher education gives me an opportunity to be better in many ways. Everyone should have any personal goals in life in order to survive, prosper and succeed in every journey that life gives. As for me, being a University of Phoenix student, I hope to achieve all of my goals on which I have been trying to pursue and obtain through the years. They are goals that I believe I need to have to be a successful member of the society, and through attending the university I also hope to gain a more positive image of myself, build my personal growth, along with achieving
A long term educational goal for me was going back to school after 4 years and a second child. I kept putting it off for months and months .I was extremely intimidated due to the fact that I had two kids to support and; I would only be able to work part time. Finally I had to drive to greenwood to see the dermatologist and I said that would be the day I go to Kaplan. To make sure I reached my goal I started by cutting down my work hours and keeping in touch with my advisor. My goals were achieved after a month and I was proud it made me feel like I could achieve anything as long as I put my mind to it.
My academic goal is to graduate Argosy University with a bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology in three years time. Forensic Psychology is the study of the criminal mind, in a nutshell. The main motivation to achieve this goal would be intrinsic. I love asking questions and knowing the answers as to why people do what they do, and in a criminals case, what led them to committing the crime. This goal, however, may have some extrinsic motivation as well. Being knowledgeable about certain behaviors that criminals poses may help solve or even prevent a crime. In addition, having a degree will help open different paths in life, ones that may present me with greater job opportunities. My attitude toward the learning process will help my achievement of each goal because I am eager, determined and motivated. My greatest desire is to succeed in life, and obtaining an education is one thing I know will help me. I perhaps will need to make some adjustments along my journey. I do not know yet if I will find another educational path that intrigues me the most. For now, I do not feel that any adjustments need to be made.
I find this true still today. I remember most of my teachers working hard to help me do well in school. They showed a passion that seems to lack in teachers today. My teachers helped me develop good work habits and studying hard to obtain good grades. I figured that if they spent that much effort with me I could do my part and work hard to finish my work. This habit has stayed with me through out my life so far. I was fortunate enough to have a family, extended family, and teachers who took the time to teach good ethics and values. Without their guidance I don't know how I would be today, it is hard to say but I could be the same or I could be very different.
One of my academic goals is to get the best education possible at Allan Hancock College before I transfer. I will accomplish this by always paying attention to all my teachers and do all my work and most importantly make school my number one priority. Another academic goal that I have is to transfer to Cal Poly or Long Beach and obtain my Master’s degree in education. I also want to graduate with honor and with a 3.5 GPA or above. I decided that I wanted to be a teacher because I like helping people out and also I enjoy working with kids. I selected these goals because my economic background is not the great, most of the money that my family makes goes to the rent and daily expenses. We live in a small apartment and we are a family of five; we don’t usually go out and eat at restaurants only in special occasions.
As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy-tale like, we tend to see life through a rose-colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.
An obvious goal as a working adult returning to school is, of course, to earn a degree. My overall goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have several personal goals I hope to achieve while attending the University. Some of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance my current business abilities, to apply what I learn in the classroom to forward my career, and to feel personal satisfaction of finishing something I started.
“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things,” stated by Jean Piaget. Education serves many purposes; it helps a child open their eyes to the world, it provides curiosity and determination for a young adult, and it can provide middle age adults and elders with a spark of belonging and hope. To be able to achieve these purposes, the process of education must start at a young age. Singing the ABC’s to an infant, reading to a toddler, encouraging writing and math skills are a few steps towards all the possibilities a person could have in life.
Everyone should have personal goals that evolve around anything that needs to be accomplished. I set goals on a daily basis. One goal that I seem to have not truly focused on has been my college education. Considering all things, I decided I needed to focus on my college education. The first thing I needed to accomplish was to enroll in an institution for higher learning. Now that my enrollment is complete, I am an official student at the University enrolled in the undergraduate program for business management. As a student at the university, I now have to set personal goals so that I will be successful in my endeavors. My personal goals are to gain personal growth and development and graduate from my undergraduate program in business
