Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela is an African American leader who fought for the rights of his people. Through trials and tribulations he stood his ground and kept on fighting.
Nelson was a born leader and utilized his talents at an early age. When he was younger he used to take care of his family and make sure everything went right through all the injustice that society bestowed onto his people. Throughout his life Nelson Mandela watched as his people were mistreated and with this in mind he decided to join the African National Congress in 1942. Mandela had been imprisoned from 1962 to February 11th 1990.
Mandela is most noted for his roles as a peace maker and an activist on the fight for equality in his native country of Africa. He was selected as the former president of the National African Congress, and he also was the first ever Black President of S. Africa. His guiding philosophy and the things that Mandela stood for was equality amongst all people and justice in Africa. He wanted his people to have the right to vote and he wanted laws and rules to be fair and give the people of S. Africa a chance at a better life. The major obstacles of his life were imprisonment and the fact that the government tried to bribe him and force him to act and say things that went against his philosophy. Persistence and the will to keep on fighting helped Mandela get through hard times. The most noted measure of success would be receiving the Nobel Piece Prize in 1993. Nelson Mandela went through a lot of adversity and trauma in his life, but he kept on fighting and wouldn’t let these adversities stand in his way of creating equality for his people in S. Africa.
In conclusion we all can learn from Mandela. His will power and determination to keep fighting for what is right can help us as a people in our everyday struggles. A great quote that Mandela lived by that’s very useful is “this struggle is my life.” He said this once he was elected
Nelson Mandela did some helpful things in his life but other people thought it was unacceptable and so he went to jail for no reason. Nelson Mandela was a great leader and left a legacy by winning epic political battles, by making everyone have their rights, and he was president not for the rich stuff but to help out with people’s health, housing, and education. Nelson Mandela was also known to be a leader of a civil rights organization known as the African National Congress. The purpose of the African National Congress was to demolish racial segregation and discrimination. The two most significant social changes made by Nelson Mandela was his uniting of a fiercely divided country and his creation of a truly democratic society in South Africa.
He wasn’t apart of America for the Civil Rights movement but his words to his country were wise and helped a lot. Mandela was from South Africa. He was a famous Civil Rights Activist. He fought against a system where non-white citizens were kept apart from whites and did not have equal rights. he tried hard to have the congress and the protesters to follow Mohandas Gandhi's non-violence approach. At the time he started thinking how the approach might not work. Nelson then started up an armed branch of the African National Congress and planned to bomb certain buildings. He then was labeled as a terrorist by the South African government and was sent to prison. He was in prison for 27 years because of his protests, but became a symbol for his people. After all of his hard work, all races were allowed to vote in the election of 1994. He ran for president in South Africa and won the election. Nelson helped his country and prevented it from any major civil war.

He was an anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist, who was the first black and democratically elected President. Nelson is an individual who fought through many hardships, but was also faced with decisions that affected his future, his family, and his livelihood. As we look at Nelson deeper, we can see many interesting points. He was opened to new ideas and beliefs through his experiences in the schools of Heraldtown and Fort Hare, but knew there was something better. He decided to travel to Johannesburg to find new and greater opportunities. While, in Johannesburg, he believed education would be a key asset. While working for a small firm, he took classes at University of South Africa and eventually Wits University. Here is where his mind and social life flourished. He interacted with great minds and influential political individuals. He talked to many Africans without proper education, who contained more knowledge and better social skills than many Africans with education. But, he still persisted in acquiring his B.A. Wits University brought his life to new extents. He was also talking to Indians, Coloureds, and whites for the first time in his life and Becoming friends with many more prominent African individuals.
