Hi Dawnecia, I totally agree with Napolean belief in " Whatever a person's mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve" a famous well known saying on the power of positive thinking. It change our whole point of view toward achievement and possibly give us idea on our next step. Though, we all have distinctive beliefs that we collect from childhood experiences, books, tv, power figures and so forth. And even some barriers in our minds and limitless amounts of potential, but it doesnt mean we can't achieve our goals in life. We just have to be consistent and be predictable in working towards what we need to accomplish. Always remember that "quitters achieve
In school, at the stores, anywhere, there are two types of people that can be encountered. What makes these two types of people different is their mindsets. One type has the mindset of a pessimist; they think they cannot do certain tasks and are afraid of looking stupid. The other type has the mindset of an optimist; they always try new things and are not scared to do so. In the article “Brainology” by Carol S. Dweck, she states that there are two different mindsets that people can possess, either a fixed mindset (pessimist) or a growth mindset (optimist); these mindsets are developed at a young age and will influence a person’s choices and opportunities.
There are many instances in our lives when we feel like giving up, and accepting our failures. It is the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset that stops us, or encourages us. It was just last year ago when I really understood the consequence of a fixed mindset, and the positive outcome of a growth mindset.
“Mindsets are an important part of your personality, but you can change them.”(Dweck 46) Carol Dweck author of Mindset: The New Psychology of Success says this because mindsets aren’t permanent and you are able to change your mindset about anything. How you approach things in life and what mindset you use toward it can affect the outcome of what occurs. How you take the results of how you did can affect the future of how you go about doing things. One of the reoccurring themes of the growth mindset is trying a new approach at a goal or a situation that you don’t know how to go about.
The Video, The Power of Belief-Mindset Success by Eduardo Briceno. While watching, I found it very powerful and interesting. Anyone including me with a fixed mindset, can develop a growth mindset to succeed in their goals.
I believe that we can achieve what we have envisioned in our lives as we consistently not only believe it but confidently work hard toward that belief. Such is my principle and conviction
One of my most cherished thoughts is that all goals are in grasp if you can work hard enought and long enought you can achieve them. I also believe with dedication any person can reach what they dreamed about.
It’s a mindset like this that distances us from others because we believe that because our own thoughts are subjective and different to those around us, making us unique to others regardless of whether or not there’s a similar goal. By looking past this, it allows us to be less hesitant in looking at others when it comes to predicting our own future, especially in the case of those around us that may be pursuing similar goals, majors, or careers. In the case of predicting my own future in particular, I’d have to rely mainly of the adults around me in my life, as well as various older acquaintances that have shared stories of their similar interests and what those developed into. Ultimately, from this perspective I can assume in my later years I’d find much of my happiness through writing and reading, specifically in topics or areas that are more reflective of my later interests. What’s important to note here is that while numerous adults and figures in my life do enjoy and share these hobbies and find much of their happiness in them, it’s also worth acknowledging that many of their interests, jobs, and ultimately people who they surround themselves with is consistent, in my case that’s still very much subject to change. This is a very noteworthy point to raise, being that while there are some aspects that can be predicted such as what kind of hobbies I’d possibly find enjoyment in, the interests I’d inherit in my later
If anyone believes in anything all they have to do is try their hardest and they should be able to achieve what they want to achieve. The biggest part to becoming successful is following dreams. If a person follows their dreams or goals they will easily be able to get what they want in life, and be
This is how I was raised to think. You see, my family and I attend church every Sunday, so this influenced my life in a big way. To always think what’s right and wrong, and to always be grateful for what I have. On the other hand, this isn’t the only thing that influenced my life. Growing up with multiple ethnicities, I’ve had lots to learn growing up. My family, friends, school, church, and every experience I’ve encountered has influenced me and created the person I am today. It taught me to try something new, to dream, but to also be humble and never lose control of myself. With this way of thinking, my aspirations are simply to do my best to achieve the best. To think critically and reach my
Carol Dweck writes about an excellent concept to live by in Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, although it is not necessarily a new concept. She words her concept as the “growth” mindset versus the “fixed” mindset. The “growth” mindset is what she suggests the reader should translate into different aspects of their everyday life. The growth mindset is about learning from mistakes, and always trying as hard as possible to improve oneself. Whereas, the fixed mindset is when people have the idea that they were born with quantifiable traits, and are not able to change or improve them. In my opinion, for the growth mindset, she is essentially just rewording what I call the golden rule which is “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again”.
Students of Mount Miguel that have fixed mindset are more likely to be unsuccessful then others, because they tend to downgrade themselves into believing that they can’t do the work. According to
I agree to the “world’s greatest lie . . . is that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. " I agree to this because this has happened to me before and all I can do is just let God handle it and see what happens in my life. C. I somewhat agree because some people go after their dreams and all dreams are attainable. Like for example Olympians have dreams and they get it and some people like me want nice cars and house and they get jobs and that dream because reality.
It made me understand that I have a fixed mindset. The article “Brainology: Transforming Students ‘Motivation to Learn,’ made me understand that I have a fixed mindset after reading the article by Carol S. Dweck. I have a fixed mindset because I have believed that I’m not good at most things in life. I don’t think that I will ever be great at stuff that I do in life.
We explored the basics of neuroscience and what makes up a neuron and how they fire in our brains and how neurotransmitters travel through them. Neurons form neural pathways and the more experiences you have the more pathways your form. We need to experience new things in order to continue to grow and develop new and different ways of thinking. It also helps to develop your mindset. Two mindsets, or two ways of thinking are a Growth mindset, and a Fixed mindset. A growth mindset is allowing yourself to fail, seeking not necessarily to succeed, but to learn. A fixed mindset is saying that failure isn’t an option, and success makes you superior to others. Being stuck in a fixed mindset is detrimental for your cognitive wellbeing, but you don’t have to stay stuck forever. Dialectical thinking can help you move over from a
I think anything can be accomplished through diligent work and devotion. I have discovered this to be accurate through what happens around me as well as through myself. I unearthed this
