National Honors Society’s four pillars are imperative in a member. First there is character, which focuses on your mannerisms and actions. Next, there is Leadership which shows your ability to guide and manage. Then there is service showing your involvement in the community. Lastly there is scholarship, which is about your classes and academic achievements. It’s hard to judge your own character, because you always want to assume you're the best version of yourself. I hope I have shown my teachers the best version of myself and have displayed all the five codes of conduct. I believe I have shown my responsibility by taking control of my work planning time to do the work. I also believe I have been responsible by reaching out for help from my teachers. I show my honesty and courage by admitting to what I don’t know. Which I believe shows my character the best, because not everyone is willing to admit what they don’t know. There is also my respect which I show to my peers and teachers by listening to everyone's ideas and participating in group discussion. Character is important because it is the one pillar that is the hardest to change. By seeing their leadership roles you get to look at how they work in groups which links back to their character. If the student can only work by themselves, it shows they aren’t versatile. It is useless if you know everything but can bring nothing to a group setting. Especially when you learn so much from a group. This summer I went to a leadership camp and all of the activities involved my leg, which is what we called a group, of 10 future leaders. This showed me that a leadership quality doesn't mean you have to be the manager of the group. Everyone can bring something and be a leader in their own
