Growing up, most people have heard others say, “Watch what you say. There are kids around.” This common scenario is one of the best examples to explain that people really do pick up on their surroundings and follow their peers. Little kids want to do exactly what their parents and siblings are doing. If a little boy sees his dad nailing a picture to the wall, he wants to do the same and if a little girl overhears her sister arguing with her mother and using harsh words, most of the time that little girl will pick up on some of those things and use them in a later conversation. Our peers and the environment that we live in, do have an effect on our personality and the way our brain develops whether it be positive or negative. To sum it up, scientists have learned that humans become who they are based on nature and nurture. Nature is the term referring to human development of the genetic codes you inherit. It states that you develop your personality, height, weight, level of intelligence, as well as various other traits through genetics. Nurture refers to humans learning their behavior and personality traits after conception through external factors. Becoming who you are through nurture would mean that you learn from experiences throughout life as well from the way your peers influence you. After conducting research on the nature versus nurture theory, it is reasonable to assume that we develop into the humans we are more so through the nurture method part of the theory, but
