On The NBA Fans Created by Jim Naismith in 1891, the game of basketball has grown into something no one ever thought it could be. The sport today is worshipped by millions of people across the globe. Professionals call those millions who love and watch it fans. Fans buy their favorite team’s shoes, clothes, balls, and sometimes even cars. Millions of fans talk about their teams on social media, rant on message boards, and talk smack to each other on their phones. The National Basketball Association has taken over tons of people’s lives, and not just the players and coaches. The fans of the NBA form a large community in a variety of countries. Every day, thousands of people fill stadiums, bars, and their mother’s couches to cheer on their team for the big game. This community of fans plays a bigger role in NBA than most people would think. Without people buying tickets and merchandise, the teams could not generate enough revenue, and therefore not pay their players and staff. Fans are what …show more content…
Some have argued that the fans of the NBA couldn’t be a community because the persons involved have too many different interests such as teams, players, etc. I would completely disagree Communities thrive on diversity and it overall makes them stronger as a whole. When Ramon Llamas was asked about the community of fans that surrounds the NBA, he simply stated, “Divided into their separate teams the [NBA] fans don’t form a community, but the fans as a whole definitely do because all of them have love and respect for the game.” What Llamas is saying is that if the fans separate into their teams they all have private communities. If they are all fans of the NBA and basketball itself, they come together as one strong, diverse group and form a community. I completely agree with him and I think that all of the fans as a whole do form a
The book “Last Shot” shows what a basketball game is really about. It doesn't just show you the game and who wins; It shows you how all the competitors need to prepare immensely to attempt to win. It shows you how the players could throw everything away with their grades or selling team merchandise for a maximum profit. During the read of this book, you are Stevie Thomas, teen writing contest winner. You get to experience the time of your life (at least from his perspective), which is going and reporting at the Men’s Basketball NCAA Tournament Final Four. You discover what the reporters have to go through and maybe what the players are told to do. Basketball is much more than just the game, it’s life.
The value behind entertainment depends on each individual and their likings, implying that not every single human being enjoys playing sports. However, people who do seek enjoyment through athletic activities should know that such vigorous movement can permit various benefits. Competing 5 on 5 on the basketball court involves teamwork and a game plan. The 5 players on each team must create a clever strategy for allies to follow through on court. Possibly achieving a blind pass, jab step or block can make a victorious battle. Communication, team cooperation and interpreting the opponent’s next
When thinking of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the players who come to mind are usually Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Many different opinions exist between the different generations of each player, with the older generation usually liking the Jordan era and vice versa with LeBron James. While the debate about who the greatest player of all time may never end, there are a few ways that the best can be determined; through looking at the player’s childhood to adulthood, statistics, and achievements on and off of the court, one can decide for themselves.

1995 the Detroit pistons were one of the best defensive teams in the league, but what cause that? The Pistons played a very physical defense which stops offensive players from getting to the basket easily. In this passage I am going to show you what the Pistons did to become one of the best defensive teams in the league.
NBA All-Star Weekend is in books, and it might have been one of the better All-Star Weekends in several years. Although the All-Star Game wasn’t as competitive as most had hoped, the pageantry surrounding the event was at an all-time high as Kobe Bryant’s farewell tour made its latest stop at the Air Canada Center in Toronto. The Slam Dunk Contest might have been the best ever, the Three-Point Contest came down to teammates and likely the two best shooters in the world, and a big man pulled off the biggest upset of the weekend by winning the Skills Competition. The culmination was one of the better All-Star Weekends in recent memory.
My family was born to play basketball, both of my brothers had the size and athleticism to play professionally, and my dad towered over others standing at 6’6”. At a young age I was expected to follow in their footsteps. However, I did not have the size that the rest of my family did, and struggled to compete due to my small stature. In the seventh grade I tried out for my middle school basketball team and was promptly told I wasn’t good enough to play. I came home crying feeling that I disappointed my family. The next year, during the eighth grade try-outs, the coach said the same thing and broke my heart for the second year in a row. Dissatisfied with these results, I promised that I would make a change before entering high school.
The NBA in the today is becoming a global powerhouse because basketball is being played all over the world. The popularity of the NBA today is the biggest in all its years of existence because of players like Lebron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard. These players are the ones who are pushing the NBA to new heights. One of the biggest things that is making the
The Golden State Warriors' recent NBA title will prove to be a turning point in basketball's evolution. While the game has been steadily drifting away from the Goliath vs. Goliath monotony of center-oriented post play, league-MVP Stephen Curry & Co. shattered several prevailing NBA myths when they finished off Lebron James' Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in Game 6.
As the summer winds down and the NBA season is upon us, the Golden State Warriors are planning for their fight to claim another championship ring. Last season, the Warriors won the most games in a single season in NBA history (73), but fell just short of winning back-to-back championships. Having recruited superstar Kevin Durant, who joined the team this summer, seems to have made Golden State even more frightening than it already was. However, past experiences have shown us that a cluster of superstars on one team doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic ring.
The Pistons just fired Stan van Gundy for two rookies as head coach jake plamondon and Isaiah Lynn. It's they're first time coaching in the NBA ever. They are trying to turn the Pistons around into a championship contender. In they're press conference earlier they stated "we are looking for constant improvement and it all starts with trades, budgets, and free agents."
The level of talent and competition is a huge difference between basketball in America and basketball overseas. America’s best league, the NBA, has the best talent in the entire world and it is not even close. Just take a look at what happened this past summer in the Olympics. It is hard to even create an argument of where the better talent is, America or overseas because every time there is an international tournament the United States wins, with a few exceptions. The other countries were not even close to competing with the United States. The players that are on those countries teams participate in both NBA and European leagues but, more European than NBA. I know this date goes way back, because the NBA has more superstars and better overall
The 1992-1993 season rolled around, with Jordan and the Chicago Bulls looking to make history yet again. Early in the year the Bulls started off slow and looked as if they did not have a chance for the title. (Christopher 97) By the end of the season they were learning to win again “winning the Central Division with a 57-25 record, third best in the league” (Christopher 97). Once again the Bulls made it to the Championship Game leaving every person in shock that they made it once again. The Bulls were up against the Phoenix Sun and pushed the series to game six where the Chicago Bulls were in the position to three-peat. The end of the game was near when the Bulls were down by two, 99-98, when Suns guard threw up an air ball with 14 seconds left. (Christopher 100).

Time is beginning to run out on the New York Knicks playoff hopes after dropping another close game in Philadelphia.
