A diesel-driven Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 in SL garb lands on the Auto Trends driveway.
Oftentimes, it is the second opportunity with a vehicle that paints a clearer picture of its capabilities. Following my introduction to the all-new Nissan Titan XD seven months earlier, I welcomed a 2016 Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 in SL trim to my home. Not only did I have more time to put it through the paces, but I also was able to essentially completely dissect this vehicle.
My verdict? Nissan has a formidable competitor in the Titan XD, one the manufacturer says fills the “white space” between light- and heavy-duty trucks. In particular, instead of going up against the likes of the Ford Super Duty and similar models from Chevrolet, Ram, and GMC, Nissan built the Titan XD to give it enhanced towing capacity without the attendant huge price tag.
More Power, Manageable Price
The result is a powerful Crew Cab-only pickup truck priced from $35,290 in base “S” trim, a 4x2 model with a 5.6-liter, gasoline engine. But the big news here is the availability of a turbo-diesel engine provided by Cummins, a supplier who is no stranger to the auto industry.
Cummins’ engines power heavy-duty Ram 3500 pickups, but the engine supplied to Nissan is not

Oversized split towing side mirrors provide a formidable accent and come with puddle lights at the SL level and include integrated turn signal indicators except in the base edition. Another accent is provided by the Cummins badging affixed just fore of the front door where vent ports typically reside. As for the belt line, it stays straight from back to front except as the front doors meet the pillar and then they curve downward, making a unique style enhancement as well as easier to see out the side windows. Running boards are standard on the SL edition and are a much desirable feature for getting in and out of the
You’re in the market for a new truck; you have an idea about what you want but not quite sure if you want a gasoline or a diesel engine. Well, gas and diesel engines are very similar yet different in quite a few ways.
Chevrolet has added many options to the lineup for the new trucks this year. A new and improved traction controlled system has been added as well as Stabilitrak Electronic Stability Control System and power side view mirrors. As far as the interior goes, there is always the option of having leather seats but this year Chevrolet added heated seats for the driver and passengers of the vehicle as well as satellite radio. Axles on the new Silverado’s have been upgraded to 9.5 inch axles.
The first generation of chevy pickups were made between 1918-1928. The first one that was made in 1918 was called the Chevy 490. From the factory they didn’t come with anything on the back of it, so all it came with was an engine and a cab, different companies made the boxes for them that you had to buy separately. They used a 171 cubic inch, over head valve, four cylinder engine that produced 21.7
Already known as a true workhorse, the all-new F-150 was redesigned for 2009 to improve upon its already impressive towing and hauling capabilities. With its new high-strength, lighter-weight chassis - the strongest frame in its class* - the 2010 F-150 features best-in-class towing and hauling.*
No more flowery words for this part. To be specific, the 2010 Kenworth T658 comes with a huge 50" sleeper cab, and a Viesa cooler to provide truckers and operators that nice rest when not driving.
Most people love the capability of pickup trucks but loath their ride quality. Because of this, many people just use pickup trucks when they need to haul or tow stuff; after that, they return to their sedans and coupes. However, you should not know that the Tacoma in Othello is different. Its suspension
The motor that is in the Dodge Ram 3500 is a 6.7L turbo diesel Cummins inline-six that produces 385 horsepower and 900 foot pounds of torque (Chrislib). To run this motor it has a 26,000psi fuel injection system which allows you to have more
In 2004, General Motors introduced the Colorado as a replacement for their popular S10 trucks, and the Colorado has proven to be just as popular. The 2016 diesel model is the proud recipient of the 2016 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award. The diesel is a new model option for 2016.
Having 318 HP on tap from an all aluminum V-6 is easy to get use to. Although it suffered from poor fuel economy and I hated that it had [different size tires on the rear] the car was a pleasure to drive. What I liked most about the first generation SRX Cadillac that changed when they moved to the second generation is the rear wheel drive.
The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado brings elegantly moderate great looks, a scope of motors and powertrain
Lift kits are when you raise the body of your truck, typically this is done 2 to 4 inches, and fitted with a larger, off road tire with a larger rim. Bagging Kits are used to lower a truck closer to the ground, typically 2 to 3 inches, this is done with hydraulics and fitted with smaller tires and rims. Squatting Kits are a combination of a lift and a lower, you raise the front of the trucks and lower the back of the truck at the same time. An Engine's can be modified or replaced to increase power, speed and some even like to make it louder. All the trucks have many after market add-ons that are available. GMC and Chevy's both offer many interior add-ons from Organizers and storage options to exterior bed liners and tool boxes. A few of GMC and Chevy add-ons worth noting are the Ladder Rack and the step for the bed, OnStar, and the 150 foot Internet Mobile Hotspot. Ford's offers many add-ons from storage to entertainment to exterior bed options. Some of Ford's add-ons worth mentioning are Underseat storage vault, tablet cradle, Sportz truck camping tent, and a bed step. Dodge offers the least amount of add-on options. They have the normal add-ons like floor mats, storage options, and audio options. One option worth noting on the Dodge is the Ram Box Management System, which is a compartment at the end of the truck's
The performance of a diesel truck and a gas burner truck are very different, but either one can be advantageous depending on its use. The horsepower of the diesel truck averages around 360, but can easily be modified with plug and go tuners that can increase HP to over 500 while the gas burner is at an all time high around 420 HP in the new v8 engines. The gasser may prevail in horsepower, but the diesel dominates in torque. The gasser tops out around 460 lb/ft while the diesel blows it away at 765 lb/ft. The towing capacity is the game changer for the diesel truck compared to the gasser. The gasser starts to struggle around 12,000 pounds at high RPMs, but the diesel is still running smoothly around 17,500 pounds. It is hard for the gasser’s towing power to beat the towing power of
The Nissan Datsun D21 was the successor of the 720 truck and was known in the United States as the Hardbody because it had double walls in the bed. If you are still using yours, you may think that parts are hard to find, but at www.factorynissanparts.net, you can find parts going all the way back to 1984, so have your D21 parts.
The front end has a unique body-colored grille featuring a blacked-out center section as well as the world 'TOYOTA' on it. The headlights are placed lower in the front fascia and are complimented by LED daytime running lights. The wheels are made of alloy while the side panels have been pimped with loads of chrome. When it comes to the interior, the vehicle has a black leather upholstery and contrasting red stitching on most of its cabin parts. The TRD Pro logo is stamped on the center console, shift knob and floor mats. The center console also features a 6.1 touchscreen display and an Etune premium sound system with a navigation unit. Concerning safety, the car has received some
