Play vs. script No Exit by Jean Paul Sartre is a very alluring, yet very arrogant play. This play is a very ponderous eye opener, it shows what people around us cause the way we are. It shows how we should all change and become someone different, because there is no exit from the past once you have done it, it doesn’t go away at all. As I watched the profromance of the play No Exit there are both similarities and differences between the play and the script originally written. There is an abundance of similarities between the play and the script. One similarity is in the beginning when Garcin, Inez, and Estelle all got escorted in the room. Following this, in the beginning, they got a couch and Estelle of course complained about having one of the couches and she needed another one. Both Inez and Estelle assumed that Garcin was the “torturer”, just because he was a guy and the first person in the room. As each and everyone realized they were all stuck in this one room, Garcin just wanted silence forever, and of course Estelle just couldn’t be quiet. …show more content…
Since the play has similarities, there had to be differences. The differences in the play than the script was that the character Inez was a very snobby, sarcastic person. Secondly, in the play Inez and Estelle flirt with each other and end up kissing. Thirdly, the character Garcin had his story on how he died because he didn’t want to fight extended by the play writer added way more than the original script. Lastly, in the play Garcin and Estelle get together, where as in the original script Garcin despised Estelle he wanted nothing to do with her. Now in the script there was a valet in the beginning of the play, that escorted Garcin, Inez, and Estelle into the one room where they will be held forever. There was only one part in the play where Garcin was escorted. Those were the differences I noticed between the performance and the
You wouldn’t think about how when turning a play into a movie and making a slight change can affect the overall message of the plot. Often at times lines can be changed from the play once it is made into a movie sometimes even the whole scene or the morals of an actor may differ. It can be easier to relate to a character when your understanding of their ways or you feel you have been in a comparable situation nevertheless you may be able to relate easier than you think. These differences from a film verses a book can completely change or enhance how you feel towards different people that are in the play and movie. All these aspects can be seen and understood in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof and these play a part for me when both comparing and differentiating the play
You can be a strong beautiful woman and not even realize it, people may take advantage of you and you may not even see it, they will abuse you and you will not stand up for yourself. Each time it happens you just let it slip, then when I gets to be enough, you need space and time to walk away, rethink things through and to make sure what you are doing is right. In this short story by Budge Wilson “The Leaving” the reader sees the main character Elizabeth as one in a million, while her husband Lester only appeared to be pigheaded and demanding, while Elizabeth would do almost anything for her family. She is warm hearted, uneducated and strong.
In the movie they very graphically show the hangings of some specific characters. I consider this a big difference because they have a different view of importance on the event. the play apparently does not show enough dramatic emphasis on the hanging of innocent accused victims. The movie shows the hanging and very well emphasizes the hanging by showing graphic details such as the ropes around their necks and their feet hanging from the opened trap doors in the underneath stage the hanging takes place on. The director of the movie and the director and author of the play have different views on the hanging and it makes a big difference in the
When Daniel was on the ship with the slaves he created his friends to find a way off the ship. While they were checking for exits Daniel was still locked in his cell. Seth went to check on Daniel to see if he was ready for his execution. Seth walked up to Daniel and said “Looks like you’re powers are draining Daniel”. Daniel remembered something about Seth, when Seth was resting near Daniel’s cell, he looked into his dream and saw him being bullied in 1st grade by his classmates, they were calling Seth dumb dumb over and over again. That was Seth’s vulnerability. Daniel said, “I looked into your dream Seth, and I saw something quite embarrassing” . Seth with a confused look said, “What do you mean you
The movie’s tempo is much faster and the language had a lot of vulgar points in it. I was surprised with the comments between Roxie and Velma. Velma and Roxie seemed to hate each other much more than in the musical. Most of the characters did a great job of pronouncing and speaking lines clearly in the musical. The movie does not have the same struggle with sound as the plays do. Movies the audience has control of the volume and the editors can edit the actors’ voices. I did not have any trouble understanding the actors in the movie because of

There is very little to contrast in terms of the Zeffirelli movie and Shakespeare’s original play. The differences that do exist, however, lay in his interpretation. Play scripts often provide little information about the more specific aspects of a production, like the setting, character placement, or tonality. This, in combination with the fact that scripts are limited by a specific format, mandates some level of interpretation from the director.
College is going to be challenging. There is many difficult issues I am trying to overcome and handle on my own. One of my issues is this is going to be the first year in college and I do not have enough courage and confidence to do it own my own. I'm in a environment and setting and things can get easily confusion at times. I accepted to be Role model to my brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, additionally knowing they look up to me. I grinding to the right path and with them looking up at me it’s kind of hard cause I don’t want to quit. if I quit than when life get hard for them I don’t want them to quit and say Dimitri quit so can I. I want to set the bar and for them to go further and go higher to do what I did. Another issues I
First of all, although Julie Taymor took some creative license while directing the movie their are still a dramatic amount of things that were kept the same. Julie Taymor did a good job of making sure that the plot and actions were kept the same or else the movie would be unrecognizable to the original play. The movie quoted the play word for word and made each character relatively the same. It is safe to say that there are more similarities than
The play and film have certain aspects in common, for example they follow the same plot and they contain the same script. But there are of course some adjustments from the play to the movie. A funny fact is that the actors were the same in the movie as in the original production of the play. The big difference between the movie and the play is that the movie has taken more liberties concerning the stage directions and the setting of each scene of the play. When Adam and Jenny are on the park bench for example.
My high school experience has been a combination of an uphill climb and a walk in the park. There were times when I wanted to quit because I thought that things were getting too hard, but I did not quit. Other times and the majority of the time it was more like a walk in the park where I was able to adapt to the new subject and absorb it and excel. I would always look at the good and try to have it overcome the bad to keep going and not let the hard times keep me down.
Akilas Karazisis’ and Nick Chatzopoulos’ stage directions offer an illuminating insight in the two men’s psychology. One of the facts that struck my attention is that at the beginning of the play the action is evolving at the very front part of the stage, but later on the actors start to “go deeper”, resulting finally at the back wall. It seems like the stage reflects the level of communication Nietzsche and Breuer have; every time that a barrier regarding their relationship is broken, a curtain is rising. Another interesting fact regarding the direction of the performance is the way the female characters are presented: through puppets. This is actually weird if we take into account the major impact they have on Nietzsche and Breuer, but it helps the audience to focus on the male characters, which are actually more important to the plot.
It is obvious that Geoff and Julia Elliott were very involved in the direction and created an adaptation in which everything in the play was thought-out and had a purpose. This can be seen by the writing done for the play. Most directors choose to perform the play with as few changes to the script as possible. It seems, however, that Geoff and Julia Elliott went out of their way to add to the script in
In the play the scenes weren't near as suspenseful as in the story. I think this is because they weren't really drawn out like the story had them. It could also be that you could see a person entering the stage so it kind of kills the suspense. If the characters needed to creep up stairs or enter a room it was kind of fake because they had a limited set to use.
The year is 2056. New advancements in biomedical technology created by Carl Hammen have created huge companies that have more power than usual.
