My number 1 greatest accomplishment would be providing a safe, fun, educational environment for my students.
I have, in 5 short years of teaching in Athens, witnessed several students function through life experiences in their youth that numerous adults are not obligated to navigate. Every student walks through my door with a different set of needs. I make it my goal that when my students walk through my door, they know I will give them 110% of my energy, attention, dedication, and support. They know that making mistakes is part of life, that everyone makes mistakes and that what we do after the mistake is what counts. My students also know when they walk out of my door each day, and at the end of the school year, that they are loved. Providing
There is no other place that would make me work this hard at everything I do, but now I know I could do it. Before being an MEHS student, I relied in only my grades, but getting those good grades with such simplicity was bringing me nowhere. After hearing about Mt. Edgecumbe I was scared that I could not make it up there. After two years of being a student there, I understand that succeeding at Mt. Edgecumbe is no simple task, but it could be done by someone who truly give it everything they have. Although this would be one of he most streaneus accomplishments I had ever achieved, I know I that I could do it if given the
The choices we make early in life have an enormous impact on our future. I have always known that I wanted to directly impact people’s lives and my personal experiences have set me on the school-counseling path. In the future, I would love to influence another generation of students to soar for their dreams.
“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” – Henry B. Adams. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their formal education.
Our team practice everyday for 2 hours and our record was 23-1. We were the first team ever to win in our age division to ever win for St.Mary’s. We had a hard time in the beginning of the season. One of our best players injured her knee. She was running towards the loose ball and her knee twisted. She was out for the rest of the season. Looking back on it made me better because I learned how hard you to to practice or try to achieve your goal.
We need to start thinking of our students as sentient beings capable of an incredibly diverse spectrum of individuality, rather than yet another cog in a never ending machine. For years, we have been oppressed by desires of others, as well as their established social norms. We have become slaves to the way we perceive our society to work, That we must complete work by deadlines, that we must become another's idea of a human being. This world has been established that most all people must complete tasks they never wanted to do. However, it has become that the younger generation of the population has taken much of this obligation. For each day for a student is begun before even the sun chooses to rise, Then, leads to eight hours in an establishment created of dark brick, promising years of pain and suffering through massive workloads of things that may have been intriguing, had they not been presented in such a dull and uninteresting manner. Once this task has been completed, we return to their home where hours of chores and homework await them. Then, each night, they climb into bed, each day bearing more difficultly than the last. This cycle continues for years, the only escape from this cycle being graduating from another brick establishment that has taken all money that one could ever hope to have, and attempting to find a job that might be what you want to do. It is time that we break out of this miserable cycle. This life was meant to be enjoyed by all and to be enjoyed to the fullest. This idea has been broken and shattered beyond recognition, but it still remains. The idea that we can be exactly who we want to be, without having to sell our souls to do so still lingers on, shining, yet unattainable just as a star. We simply must be the glue that binds the broken pieces of this
Challenging myself and taking the right steps to move forward earn my BSN is already a huge accomplishment. Bachelor's degree in nursing for me has always been long term achievement and educational goal that I have put off for many reasons. What I will gain from going through this program personal self-confidence, improving my writing skills and grammar, communication, and overall knowledge that one gets for pursuing a higher level of education. Professionally having your BSN means job security, more career opportunities, advancements within an organization, financially. When I moved back to San Diego two years ago, I had a difficult time getting a full-time job. I went on many interviews where my close friends were the managers and directors
Nurture positive qualities, such as empathy, optimism, or forgiveness, and give students a chance to use them.
When assigned my first essay, “My Greatest Accomplishment,” I took time to brainstorm different ideas that defined me. The accomplishment that stood out the most to me was qualifying for State Track in four events on a sprained ankle. While writing this essay, I felt like a baby learning how to walk. My writing was unsteady and I took a few tumbles trying to get the paragraphs to flow. This reminded me of trying to run on my sprained ankle at the State-qualifying meet. However, like I finished the paper, I finished my events with qualifying times. I knew the essay would prove difficult, but I grew hopeful while writing because I knew I had numerous
Effective teachers often seek innovative ways to actively engage their students in the academic subject they are presenting. In their preparation, the student is the focus. Most highly qualified teachers never give much thought to how much time or energy it will take from them to prepare for each class. This article presents four proven strategies to equip me as a teacher to address the trauma of students who are homeless and doubled-up. I must first, build strong personal relationships with my students to support a sense of community and empathy in the classroom. Secondly, frame problematic behavior as indicative of the student’s state of mind at that time and not as reflective of his or her nature. Thirdly, build traumatized students’ confidence. Finally, help students recognize and not run from difficulties (Dill, 2015). These strategies will advance the academic success of my entire classroom while providing the consistent, predictable, safe environment the student who is presently suffering trauma needs. This organization promotes a structured environment, and it is the preventive, proactive way to prevent behavior problems (Ackerman,
As a black male who grew up in a low-income family in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and recently immigrated to the US, I am confident that I will significantly contribute to the diversity and education of the University of Colorado School of Medicine community. Through my unique perspectives, community awareness, and personal resilience I know that I will be a positive attribute the CUSOM and the communities it serves.
One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student is fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to raise their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators often lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to handle those issues doesn’t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help.
My brother is a nice young man. He truly is. But my older brother has made many mistakes. He often forgets to study, which results in him failing tests. He is forgetful, which results in him missing important opportunities that he could participate in. And finally, my brother has made some dumb mistakes. He’s gotten drunk on school nights. He’s forgotten to take his medication and as such has gotten dangerously sick. But, the lessons that my older brother has learned from all of these mistakes have propelled him towards a bright future. The merit of these mistakes is that, if my brother has made these as an adult, he could’ve lost a job, a home, a family, but, by making these mistakes in high school, where he is surrounded by other teenagers who have messed up like he has, he has learned his “lesson” without being rendered unstable and unsure. High school provides an environment that encourages mistakes so that students can be prepared from adult life as they have been educated about their mistakes and learned the consequences of these
Major accomplishments he had in his lifetime is he invented the sciences of mechanics and hydrostatics. He also discovered the laws of levers and pulleys. He calculated pi to the most precise number still known today. He showed how exponents could be used to write bigger numbers. He also invented the first water pump to get fresh water out of the ground. It was known as the archimedes screw.
My greatest accomplishment thus far, has been getting high grades in college. Accomplishing this required: patience, dedication, tenacity, stamina, and confidence. It took patience because there were long hours that were dedicated to homework and studying. It took dedication because I had to continually tell myself that it would be worth it, even when it was difficult. It took tenacity because I knew that I couldn't accept anything less than my best. It took stamina because there were a lot of late nights and just a lot of time in general to complete everything that was required of me. Lastly, it took confidence because if I didn't believe that I could, it would have made it a million times harder.
There is really a need to look into the welfare of pupils so that they could achieve to the fullest. It is a fact that when a pupil has emotional or personal problems, he cannot make use of his potentialities. Guidance is a process of helping the individual to understand himself and his world so he can utilize his potentialities. Guidance is a process of helping the individual to understand himself and his world so he can utilize his potentialities (Shertzer and Stone, 2013). It is a process of helping individuals develop to the maximum of his capacity in the direction most beneficial to himself and his society Guidance is helping a person to see through himself in order that he may see himself through (Hamrin as cited by NSGMED, 2014).
