Bob, I’m in OGM this week working with Laura Watson and one of the objectives is to work on the devolution of Grant Officer’s authority to award emergency grants in the event a disaster occurs and NO can no longer carry out that essential function. For this reason, I just met with Lidia Fiore and David King in OUI to learn how they process the request for DUA funding. Lidia stated they just recently started looking into how to devolve their authority if such a disaster were to occur. At the end of our session, Lidia ask if you and I could set up a conference next week to initiate the discussion on how OUI would devolve to Dallas and who would be the primary POC. When I get in Monday, I’ll get with you to give you a more detail account
In today's society many religions and many people don't see eye to eye with the LGBTQ community. They see this community as something less significant than others, viewed as something unnatural, and even something different from this world we live in. This community suffers from being threatened for their lives, being scared of being their true self. In what power should people have to make these decision on what people should like; none, because people should be allowed to love whatever gender they please with. People in this community shouldn't have to a live in fear of being judged by others, tormented, or even humiliated because others don't agree with what gender they like. They are just like every human that loves, but many don't see that because of maybe the way they were raised was to only believe in same sex marriage or people just don't like the idea of a sex liking the same sex. People don't see that society is more open than it was back in the days. This community suffers from being othered and are being viewed as monstering walking on the street. There's stereotypes being made about people in this community, there's religions that disown family that are in this community, and people don't see these types of event could lead to self harm, addiction, and could mess a person mind, just because they don't agree with what gender they please with.
Before attending GCU and using the sources that they provide, I normally would use resources and tools that were provided by various universities. Two notable examples that I would use where Purdue University's OWL and also Calvin College's KnightCite. OWL is a particularly helpful source since it offers a wide variety of articles regarding various topics that play a key role within successful writing. KnightCite was also a source I widely used because of the fact that it was a great way in order to get MLA (which I used in high school) citations for works used in my papers. However, nowadays I mainly use the sources provided by GCU such as the writing center which I have found to be quite helpful. In particular, I enjoy the templates provided
In several prior audits, OIG has identified that Colorado did not properly manage or monitor its FEMA grants. Without effective management and monitoring of awards and subawards, there is a greater risk that FEMA’s disaster recovery activities will not be efficient or cost effective and subrecipients risk losing their Federal funding. Moreover, taxpayers’ monies are at a greater risk of being used to fund ineligible activities.
I would like to drop the course OCG 110 because I no longer need the course for my major’s general education requirement. At the end of last semester, I switched my major from Marketing to English. While in the Marketing program, I needed only two natural sciences to complete my general education course requirement. As such, I took the course BIO 286 last semester and received a B-, and enrolled in OCG 110 for this semester. At the beginning of this semester, however, I decided to double major in English and Elementary Education. I had only officially changed my major to Elementary Education recently— within the first two weeks of October— and did not realize that I needed to take a science with a lab in order to meet the Elementary Education
In Phase 1, "Sort out Resources," the college is taught to make the beginning stride of distinguishing stakeholders from inside both the college and the encompassing group, and to stock the assets that are accessible to the planners. A warning panel is made out of these deliberations, after all proper gatherings have been distinguished and welcomed to join. FEMA prompts that, "Planning associations exist at numerous levels of the college, and it is vital to distinguish the greater part of the different planning panels that may impart an investment or have ward in the zone of danger relief before the planning methodology gets too far." Clearly, just by having a delegate from each of these levels and parts can a council guarantee that they
US 101 is all about readings, having discussion and research. When discussing readings there is no wrong or right answer. Everyone has different opinions and ideas they took away from the readings. The research papers tied in with the in class readings. Picking a topic that connected with a reading and arguing for or against the topic was the main part of the paper. Presenting about who you are started off the beginning of the semester. At the end of the semester we ended by presenting a research topic that we were passionate about. US 101 pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me a lot.
Last night or so the MAS unit of the 750 stopped working due to some unknown problems and my rotor exploded -- this time we just got rotor dusts ( no sample to recover) -- so the regular 3.2mm HXY is gone. And, their E-free probe was also not working after it came back from Burker -- last week, we tested that probe after Boris returned from his vacation. So, they will send these two probes for repairs and request for a new MAS unit. Mike will not charge the 750 week.
In this assignment, I will reflect upon an incident within the clinical practice involving a smoker patient . For the purpose of this assignment, Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle (1988) has been used to guide the reflection on the incident. The patient's name, in relation to confidentiality will not be used according to NMC confidentiality.
Over the course of the semester, there has been numerous amount of areas where I believe I have improved in comparison to high school. What has helped me in my writing is the writing class and the in-class writing workshop. The writing class that is located in the Kremen education building has helped me with my writing greatly because in the writing center the person in charge teach us lenses and we apply those lenses to the writing, draft, or reading that someone brings in. The in-class writing workshop has helped me because other students get to read my writing. This is helpful because I get feedback from many students and they let me know what needs to be fixed. A new tool I have been using is They Say I Say. The book is very helpful because of the information and examples it provides such as the templates. I have been applying the templates into my essays and I have seen a significant difference.
During this course, we have discussed the various ethnicities that make up the American culture and the effects that happen to each. I found the class to be refreshing considering how people view ethnicity and its interaction in the history of our country. My intent of this final essay is to cover what my views of the ethnic makeup and diversity that exists in America today. Next, I will cover how historical conditions that were covered in the class have influenced the current ethnic relations in the United States, and how my experiences guided me to these points in history. Finally, I will compare my own experiences with an individual with different experiences than myself.
If I was born a boy, my moms wanted to name me Anders. When my German dad heard that name, he laughed, explaining that I was going to be different enough; I didn’t have to have a name that translated to “different” in German.
Most humans do not have a taste for suffering. Instead, most seek happiness and safety. My philosophy before Humanities 210 followed along the line of epicureanism. Epicureanism is a philosophy in which one believes that life is to be moderated and enjoyed (Detrick). I believed that through education, hard work, and self-control; fortune and happiness may be acquired. Much of this belief stems from a cultural and familial Christian background. I now believe that God is much larger than the social and cultural constructs of religion. Although partaking in religion is not a major part of my life, its’ influence is evident. My belief aims around being a good person and doing the right thing, but the end goal is for it to benefit myself. A “riches in heaven” idea as the conscious/subconscious drive for self-control and generosity is wrong. Loving to help others is something I hold dearly. I noticed recently; agitation sets in if the credit for positive influence, hard work, or higher education is not accredited. Doing good or being moral only to benefit oneself is selfish and therefore not a proper way to live life. Instead, I now am learning to look at life with an altruistic perspective, focusing on genuine compassion and a search for knowledge to encourage this new mindset. Daily, I am shaping my intrinsic motivation to live.
Writing has been something that I have grown to love. At first, writing always felt like a chore. It felt difficult, boring, and tedious. However, once I entered my junior year of high school, my perception on writing immensely changed. During this year I fell in love with analyzing novels and finding new things within them. I enjoyed scouring the novels for any bit of new information and re-reading to gain another perspective. A paper that I was particularly happy with was on The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. There was never a paper that I enjoyed writing so much. I find that when I am truly interested in a work, I can write about it much easier. It is refreshing to dive into a book and to be able to put your thoughts into words on a paper.
Everyone has someone they look up to. People come and go, but the impact they leave behind lasts forever. If you asked 10 people what type of person I am, I promise, you will get 10 different answers. I am proud of the man that I am today, but there was a point where I was very lost. I was a loose cannon and had no sense of direction; taking every day as a joke. It was then, when I was 13, a 6’5 335 man, Mr. Corey Swinson, grabbed me and told me I can be anything I wanted. He said I wasn’t like the rest. All I needed was some motivation to get to where I wanted to be. You can only imagine what went on in my head when his large hands were around the back of my neck. He said I wasn’t just another kid in school that wouldn’t amount to much, I was something so much greater. At that moment, I took the first step and enrolled in a private high school, but I still didn’t grasp the full meaning of what he meant. I continued to run around like somebody owed me something. Like I was entitled to things that I had no business being entitled to. On September 10, 2013, everything changed. My mentor passed and the pain was indescribable. The very first person that actually saw potential in me was gone, and I couldn’t do anything about it. But deep down I know what he expected of me. From then on, I started to read more. I started to become inspired. I started to work to perfect my craft. I started to be a dreamer. For many months, I didn’t know what he meant. It only clicked when he was
After completing the match assessment, I familiarized myself with several behaviors I did not know I had. First, I will talk about the statements that I consider most like me. With my career in retail since the age of nineteen I have acquired quiet the few skills. I can get others to do what I want them to do by being very discreet. In order to have a successful team, you must guide each individual to reach success. I am currently employed in a bakery which means that my duties include training new individuals who will be working with me. By holding a professional tone, I have noticed that each trainee complies with their work. I like the freedom that open-ended goals provide me. My personal freedom is something that I do not take for granted. Open-ended goals for me should not set limitations to getting the work done or acquiring new ideas. Additionally, I have noticed that I work best when things are orderly and calm.
