In 2015 fitness has seemed to be the latest trend, but at the same time you can’t lead a large country to follow the trend as they are picking up supersized portions of food and drinks an giving the thumbs down to exercise and fitness. This leads them right to a stereotype of individuals within obesity in America. The reason that people are obese in America is due to many obstacles. Genetics, overeating, lack of physical activity and over all lack of movement from having the weight on them. Food companies as well restaurants have updated their food selections to healthier choices, as well cut calories within the food they disburse to the country but there still raises a question, “Is the individual that can’t gain control of their consumption …show more content…

He stated that people this subject tends to strike a nerve with people because they tend defend their natural decision. That follows with the pros that line up with obesity being a disease, six pros as to why it’s a disease comes in 3 criterias: 1.Impairment of one’s normal life functions being able to physical move about.2.characteristics, breathing, and active levels as well energy.Mobidity. The human body organs can only take so much weight until the system starts to suffer and take an alternative to shut down. The second pro, as Dr.Nahmias spoke about is impairment of the body’s functions which have a breakdown of what takes place. The leptins become excessive which is body fat, now how one becomes obese is dominated from the excessive body fat this tissue than runs as overproduction of leptin which as control over the intake of one’s energy as well food it acts as our inside mediator but after the intake of food over passes due to lack of energy, abnormal regulations get out of balance that sums up obesity. Obesity as we know takes a toll on the body but joint wise puts are knees, hips and joints at risk due to the weight change. Another risk factor that can take place is sexual health for men and women, obesity lowers men’s sperm count and for women, it leads to infertility and miscarriages. To add on
Being overweight, eating poorly, and not exercising are becoming an epidemic in America, especially among college students. Most of the research on it states the same things, however the first research article I found speaks more to the behavior and its current affects on college students’ health. A slew of doctors and Jesse S. Morrell wrote an article about “Risk Factors Among College Men and Women” in relationship to obesity. The opening of this article stated that “an estimated 300,000 deaths each year are attributable to obesity… and young adults have experienced dramatic increases in obesity rates,” (Morrell, 2012, pg. 82). This statistic is what really got the research going and helped the researchers focus specifically on college-aged individuals. Upon diving into their research, the authors found more alarming statistics and related diseases. This included a recognizable relationship between obesity in young people and chronic disease risk, especially diabetes and cardiovascular disease (Morrell, 2012, pg. 82). In fact, CVD was the second leading cause of death in the US in that college-age group showing that our generation is at a greater risk for health problems than ever before due to our lack of exercise and healthy diets. Researchers then took to college campuses to examine students and their habits and provide risk assessments to promote healthier lifestyles and hopefully decrease the probability of CVD and DM through the metabolic syndrome system,
The United States of America is the fattest country in the world. Obesity in America has reach epidemic proportions. Obesity and weight gain has become major concern of public health in the United States. In every state, at least twenty percent of adults are obese, and in twelve of these states the obesity rate is above thirty percent. Mississippi currently holds the highest rate of obesity with 34.9 percent of its residents being obese. On the contrary, Colorado has the lowest rate of obesity with 20.7 percent. CNN estimated that annual medical care costs due to obesity reached $147 billion, but the Institute of Medicine estimates it is closer to $190 billion.
In the United States today, obesity has become an enormous problem. In the last 3 decades, the number of people overweight has increased dramatically. A study done by the Centers of Disease Control showed that since 1980, one third of our adult population has become overweight. America is the richest but also the fattest nation in the world and our obese backsides are the butt of jokes in every other country (Klein 28). The 1980s were a time when Americans suddenly started going crazy over dieting, jumping onto the treadmills, and buying prepackaged non-fat foods. However, while all of that was going on, the number of obese Americans began to increase. According to a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 58 million
Obesity has been framed as a topic of personal responsibly for a long time. For many, the fundamental notion has always been that if you stop eating junk food and eat “healthy”, you will maintain a healthy weight. According to the U.S. Centers of Disease Control’s 2007-2008 Health and Nutrition Examination survey, it was found that 73.7% of all Americans 20 years old or older were overweight, obese, or extremely obese. That is a lot of fat people and it is hard to believe that fast food alone is responsible for 70% of adult Americans being overweight.
In the United States, a crisis is breaking out known as the Obesity epidemic. For the first time in history, it is possible for the children of this generation to have a lower life expectancy than their parents. Millions of Americans are exposed to ads that are luring them into eating the cheap, fast food of billion dollar companies such as McDonald’s. Obesity has established itself as the fastest growing disease in the nation and continues to make an impact on the general population. The issue of Obesity is directly related to todays technology through television, cell phones, video games and all of sorts of new gadgets.
Moreover, Obesity is a vital root of many life-threatening diseases, like diabetes type 2, high blood pressure and even strokes. Most people who are obese are often associated with type 2 diabetes because obesity can cause resistance to insulin that produces the hormone to regulate sugar in the blood. Malnutrition motivates obesity whereby producing a lot of cholesterol, which closes up the bloodstream in the body, causing high blood pressure the process by which the heart is not able to pump the blood needed by the body. All this threaten the life of Americans and can lead to early death. Most obese Americans seem as if they do not care about what they eat nor drink. Their greatest concern about what they consume is fast food because they
Today, in our fast-paced world of modern America, the availability of inexpensive, cheap processed food and drink is overwhelming. We have quickly become the most obese nation on the planet by simply allowing companies to lower nutritional value, raise sugar quantity, and increase fat and calorie percentages to an astounding amount. We as a nation buy into these consessions because of three main reasons: low price, convenience, and massive availability. Because of this, eating healthy is seen to be expensive, time consuming, and daunting. This is the opposite of what we need here in America. Big name companies spend billions upon advertising their sugary, fat-gushing products. When in reality, we should restrict the abundance of adverts, plastered all over major cities, social media, and television. We need to start taking a
In the United States, there are several problems occurring, but people would rather go on with their lives as if everything is fine .Being unaware of distressing circumstances is less arduous than being aware. But being aware allows one to adjust, because if people are knowledgeable than they are able to prevent or control the situation.
The government with all of its power is now trying to tell you what you can and cannot eat. It is true that America has an obesity problem but people’s freewill should be respected in regarding individual lifestyle choices. Americans should have the freedom to choose what food they eat and the lifestyles they choose regardless of the impact on their health.
it strikes in wealthy countries like the United States, Tonga and Nauru ,about 2.8 million people die of obesity or health issues each year , this is due to the lack of diet and exercise mostly in the United States as well as other countries. it is that they have no money or they live in poverty, it is because they don't exercise and watch what they eat more people would be less overweight if they actually watched their weight and less people would be dying of obesity and other health related issues.
Over the past twenty five years, obesity ratio has been rising dramatically. And it is continued to become a problem in the United States. Obesity is a serious problem which should be concerned and solved by our society. The negative effects it has on individual are much larger than we think. Gaining extra weight, heart disease, and serious problems can change our human life forever. Furthermore, obesity also affects the society by costing tax payers and the government money to treat these issues. There are currently many ways of how to fight and stop the problem while it is increasing. One of the ways to help us combat with the obesity is to look at the causes such as: lack of energy balance, physical activity, and heredity.
Do you know what’s the number one cause of death in America? Well the number one cause of death is heart related diseases. Many of these heart related diseases are caused by obesity. Obesity is “the condition of being grossly fat or overweight.” It is not just being thick boned, or even hereditary. Obesity has become a growing epidemic around the world! A very colossal problem here in the untied states of America; What is sad is that it is a disease one has caused due to their own choice of life style.
It’s no mystery that obesity is a gargantuan issue worldwide. Irrespective of where you go there is certain to be an obese population; over thirty percent of the America’s population is obese and in the U.K, it is twenty-five percent. As a matter of fact, there is a mean of more than fourteen percent of people who are obese in every country. Greasy and unhealthy meals which are dangerous to the human body are sold everywhere you go; you simply can’t escape from them. Studies show that 41% of men aged 20-65 will be obese and 36% of women will be obese by 2020. That’s almost half the population! A healthy diet and exercise 2 to 3 times a week is the key to not becoming obese. Although obesity can lead to many deadly diseases, it is not classed a disease itself even though some Doctors say it causes people to eat too much and exercise too little. It can damage the body and decrease regular body characteristics, like a sickness, but it can be treated (in contrast to some illnesses) and a person can return to a healthy state of living if they keep persevering. That’s right. Obesity can be treated if you follow the right lifestyle. People are looking past obesity as if it is insignificant, but if we properly educate these people and the obese population, then many
Imagine laying in bed and wanting to get up, but it is no longer possible. Obesity has been a cause of stopping people to be able to do certain physical activities and daily tasks. It slowly made its way to America, when parents would work long hours and kids were left alone at home. When it came to dinner, parents just wanted something easy and fast to feed their families, but not focusing on what was in the food. It was all about if the food tasted good, but not if it was good for the body. This caused the rise of obesity along with Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart failure and more. The future leaders of this country should start coming up with solutions to fix this obesity problem and asking the question, if fast food business are culpable? Americans need to stop taking one more bit of the laden burger that can be a closer step to their death. Millennials need to learn more about the importance of person responsibility to stop America's problem with obesity and obesity related diseases.
It is no surprise that obesity is becoming an increasingly important health concern. “Can you believe approximately 17 percent of American children ages 2 to 19 years are obese? How about this fact: approximately 60 percent of overweight children ages 5 to 10 already have at least one risk factor for heart disease? We are all to blame for this - parents, schools, kids - all of us.” With rising obesity, poor eating habits and technology, America is destined for an unhealthy future. History had proven the death sentences that obesity causes, but even death doesn't scare the human race from obesity. People continue to overeat and become more and more unhealthy especially in America. So as Americans continue to consume more and more food, and live life selfishly without regard to the consequences of such actions, America will continue towards an unhealthy future.
