In the film Oblivion directed by Joseph Kosinski, there are multiple relationships that are used to support the writers purpose in showing the strength of love. A realtionship that displayed this in particular was held between the characters Jack and Julia. The characters fight through the impossible and together showed the audience how significant love can be in your life.

In the very beginning of the film we're introduced to the character Jack, our first impression is that he's a brainwashed soldier that lives and breathes by his work. This impression is very quickly squashed as he says the line "I can't help but think that in spite all that has happened Earth is still my home." At this point Jack had been gone for over 2 years and had taken the role as a guardian angel for Julia and their kid. This time around Jack speaks in a narrators perspective and says "Do I haunt your every hour, like you did to mine?" Jacks uses the word haunt which has negative connotations but is implying it in a nice sense. Jack felt like Julia haunted him in his dreams and what this did to him was remember her. He wishes to do the same to Julia in her dreams so she remembers their love. Joseph Kosinski adds a soft piano tune in the background the effect this has is it makes us think that Jack is reading a love poem and it is surprisingly pleasant to listen to. Despite the situation of Jack being deceased us viewers remain *calm, which is good because we're trying to be shown the strength of love. The way Julia is presented in this scene shows that she still remembers Jack and feels his love present still. This is because through a long shot we're able to see her entire posture and her current living conditions, which have both remain maintained and the same since Jack's sacrificial death. The way this technique is able to represent the writers purpose is by showing that Julia is still living life well only having mere memories of her loved one. Joseph Kosinski did so by using camera techniques, language features and lastly music. Because of these techniques it was made clear to the characters emotions and feelings in each significant scene making it easy for us to understand the writers intentions with his portrayed purpose, relating the techniques to the greater society was also fairly easy because of this.
