I know most of my friends for many, many years and throughout these years we had fights and good moments and this is what forms this strong “interpersonal bond” also known as friendship. In our novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet Henry and his friends faces different challenges throughout the story which strengthens their ties. In Jamie Ford’s novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Ford communicates the theme that friendship is needed especially during difficult times through the character’s actions in the books.

And in this quote “O.K. Someday- we're gonna get the jack together and we're gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an' a cow and some pigs”. This quote tells us that once they start working they will have these dreams and make it come true and they want to live together since they have a strong bond that will make them succeed. For example when they had many thoughts about having a future and move on with their life and forget about the horrible times in their life which talks about it in this quote "With us it ain't like that. We got a future. We

Mark Twain once said, "To get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with" ("Mark Twain > Quotes > Quotable Quote"). From this, we can understand that companionship is necessary in every aspect of life if one wishes to be content. In the novel Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck portrays the need for companionship through George and Lennie's relationship, Curley's wife's social experiences, and Crooks' loneliness.
Loneliness: The Dark Road Life is a road people will take alone and soon learn the hardships. People will get in trouble and have no one to turn to. In the book “Of Mice and Men”, by John Steinbeck, we see loneliness in action. It varies in many different ways.
In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, one possible theme is “It is important to stick with and do what’s best for your friends and the ones you love.” An example of this is shown in my first and second quotes which are in chapter one. This quote shows that Lennie and George will always stick together and be there for each other. Even when everyone else is doing the exact opposite. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a novella about two men from northern California in the 1930s, working on a ranch. George and Lennie, who is mentally challenged, are running from their home after Lennie did something horrible. They both start working on a ranch in order to work towards their dream of owning their own ranch and having rabbits. After meeting many people and working for only a few days, Lennie gets into trouble and runs away only to be killed for his crime. John Steinbeck portrays through his book that loneliness and isolation are the effects of a loss of friendship.
An example of a theme in Of Mice and Men is friendship. “Suddenly Lennie’s eyes centered and grew quiet, and mad. He stood up and walked dangerously toward Crooks. “Who hurt George?” he demanded. Crooks saw the danger as it approached him. He edged back on his bunk to get out of the way. “I was just supposin’,” he said. “George ain’t hurt. He’s all right. He’ll be back all right.” Lennie stood over him. “What you supposin’ for? Ain’t nobody goin’ to suppose no hurt to George” (72). This quote shows the level of devotion that Lennie has for George. Crooks makes a passive comment about George getting hurt or killed and never returning, and Lennie gets deadly serious and defensive. Most men travel alone and don’t have friends that get this devoted to one another, but Lennie has George and vice-versa. This quote is an example of how far Lennie will go to protect his friend and is on the edge of risking everything for the two of them just to defend George. That is how this quote shows the theme friendship.
How did one stay happy in the Great Depression, the money losing era? Most people went along alone, independent, and unhappy. Lennie and George, in the novella Of Mice and Men, stay happy by being around each other developing a strong friendship. Crooks, the stable hand, explains this, “A guy needs someone- to be near him.” He whined. “A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody.” (72). This quote stated by Crooks explains why friendship is important to everyone; you become lonely and go nuts when you are alone. The author, John Steinbeck, illustrates that friendship is important because without it, one becomes isolated. He shows the importance of friendship in the relationship between two characters, George and Lennie. George and Lennie are friends

The trust they share for each other keeps their friendship together for so many years. He’s gonna beat hell outta you an’ the go away an’ leave you. He won’t, Lennie cried frantically. He won’t do nothing like that. I know
