In section 5, another discussion with Officer Graff begins the part, yet this time with some clearly higher in the military order. They examine and conclude that Ender should be his own wellspring of assistance, and he may have companions yet that is it. Later, Ender goes and discover his bunks with his lunchmates ( Launchies). While searching for the bunks, Dap presents himself as the person who will deal with them and their inquiries. During the evening when the time has come to rest, at the end of the day, Ender is in his bunk crying, once Dap comes around to check, Ender dries his eyes. He is upbeat he figured out how to shroud his feelings back home with Peter. Next Ender goes to the diversion room/arcade, he sees every one of the recreations
In this chapter it is it is interesting that Ender is grateful to Peter for teaching him to cry silently. Peter has made Ender into the type of person who can handle a threat and thats all I think he has done to help him . Ender has a talent to be independent which helps him during the games. Ender shows how he can use his intelligence to fight back. This shows how ender is very mature Ender's strategy destroys Bernard's gang, and makes it so that he makes friends(makes friends with shen) without violence (P, CON)
Chapter 3: There is a knock at the door while Ender and his family are eating dinner, it is a commander of the International Fleet and want Ender to go to battle school. Ender got his Monitor taken off but Colonel Graff had his final test to see how he reacted without the monitor. Ender’s reason for continually hurting Stilson was to make sure that Stilson did not hurt him again and Colonel graph approves and convinces Ender to go to Battle School.
Since they don’t have much time to get a new commander, they rush Ender during battle school. This didn’t affect him, it instead impacted the other students thoughts about him. The older kids despised him for being a launchie and launchies despised him for being better. He realizes the adults won’t do anything about his problems with the others. They control his isolation and manipulate him into thinking no one is there
“When I understand my enemy well enough to defeat him, then in that moment, I also love him.” Graff and the I.F. are trying to persuade Ender, and the population of Earth that a third invasion is imminent. Ender is sent to Battle School when he was just a little boy, but he was smart, the I.F. had in him all they ever could ask in a commander. Through years of extensive and grueling training, Ender is ready to go to Command School, but it hasn’t been easy. And the admirals and colonels in charge of Battle School are worried that they wore him out, Ender starts to question his motives. Many questions nag at his mentality, many of whom cannot be answered to him, or else the I.F. would lose a high value commander. So everything is kept secret from Ender. Even his closest friends keep their knowledge enclosed from him, but Ender can’t help but to wonder.
At the beginning of the novel, Ender is chosen by Colonel Graff to take place in a program called Battle School. Here, Ender learns all about fighting in gravity, using special weapons, and creating battle plans. Ender is a Launchie, someone who is new to the school. Since day one, Andrew is the top of his class, and quickly ranked up to Bonzo’s toon. Bonzo is supposed to be his teacher, but it turns out much differently. Since Ender is still very young, he isn’t treated like the older kids. Bonzo tells him to stay away from their practices, and in the back of practice battles. Ender decides the only thing he can do is help the Launchies. This will give him leadership skills, and give them extra practice.
After his fight with Stilson Ender realizes what he has done and thinks he is “just like Peter” (8). Peter is everything Ender does not want to be. Everything Peter does goes strictly against Enders morals and so when Ender finds that he has done something like Peter would he becomes ashamed. Enders greatest wish is to not be like Peter and he struggles with this for years. After Ender has won the third invasion and he takes to exploring the bugger world they built their colony on he finds a “silken cocoon” of a bugger queen, Ender knows that if he allowed the queen to live at that time other humans would kill it and so he decides that he’ll “go from world to world until” he finds a place “where you can come awake in safety” (320-321). Ender chooses to do what he believes is right. Ender finally takes a chance to learn from his past mistakes and has accepted that there are parts of him that might be like Peter in ways and because of this is finally able to make his choice. This decision gives Ender some closure in a way, for years he had been doing things that do not go with his morals when he was given control and he finally had a chance to do what he thought was right.
The second stage of a hero’s journey is the call to adventure. Something happens that calls the hero away from their everyday life and into their quest. For Ender, it was when Graff showed up at the Wiggin’s home in chapter three. The removal of Ender’s monitor turned out to be the I.F’s final test to see how Ender handled situations without the aid. Graff arrives at the Wiggin residence to deliver the news and invites Ender to attend Battle School to commence his training. It takes a bit to sway him but he ultimately agrees stating that he was in fact born for the sole purpose. He leaves holding Colonel Graff’s hand and Valentine crying for him to return to her.
Months later, the siblings are allowed to write newsnet columns. A year later, Ender is promoted in Rat Rmy. Graff goes down to Earth to see Valentine and discuss Ender’s problems. He explains Peter’s face in the mind games. Valentine knows that Peter and Ender are not alike in any way and is shocked when Graff argues that they are more alike than she can see. Graff tells Valentine to write Ender an encouraging letter. She does and sadly regrets later, knowing she had sold her brother. Ender gets the letter knowing that Valentine was forced to write it. He is sad that Valentine is on his enemy’s side. Ender later plays the mind
Ender is one of the best commanders the International Fleet has ever wanted. He is put through the physical task that no battle student has ever done before. At Battle School, Ender is the commander of the dragon army, and is pressured everyday to compete in a battle against another army. Ender wins seven out of the seven battles he played in a week (Card 186). This shows Ender’s intellect over his irrationality and emotion. It also shows a new train of thought, because no other army is put through these stressful battle situations. When Ender takes part in the commander school training, there is a part where Ender unleashes against Petra (Card 284). Ender let his emotions get to him as they normally do. Ender sometimes lets his emotions too much, rather than think, he does irrational stuff. Ender is a good for David Hartwell’s idea, but yet he contradicts it. Ender finds himself in a hard situation. He decides to go and restart the bugger colony. This scientific advancement that Ender wants to bring to the buggers is pessimistic for the International Fleet, and they cannot do anything to stop
The novel The Red Badge of Courage by Stephan Crane takes place during sometime during the Civil War following the main character Henry Fleming's as he is about to go to battle against the Rebels. Henry's belief is that to be a loyal American, he must join the war. He believes that risking his life will help make him a man and show his bravery. His beliefs about the war are unrealistic and naïve.
In his search for identity, Jimmy tries to create his own definition of masculinity, but he never finds exactly what he is searching for. Jimmy Herf is clearly a very troubled young man as he bounces around from relationship to relationship. But even in his earliest relationships, it is clear that he is not the one that wears the pants:
When stories are written, authors will most often include characters with their own traits and personality. In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” there was a character named General Zaroff who can be called many things, but one of them is certainly, clever. In the story, Zaroff was able to track down Rainsford somehow on the first night of hunting, in the dark woods, through an extremely difficult trail (Connell 10). The way Rainsford created the trail, which involved loops that kept doubling over and over, for Zaroff to follow, there was a slim chance Zaroff could’ve figured out the trail back to Rainsford, especially in the dark. Later on, Rainsford created a trap for Zaroff called “The Malay Mancatcher”, and without any evidence of the
As the chapter begins, Alai and Ender talk about how Ender sent those messages about Bernard.Ender finds a note on his bed, explaining that he’s been transferred to the Salamander Army, effective immediately.Ender is heartbroken. Ender hugs Alai, and they promise that they’ll always be friends. Ender plays the Giant game so his emotions won’t get to him.Ender kept playing the game until he was called.Ender must leave his barracks and go to the salamander army.He enters the new alien barracks. His heart sunk as all the boys were at least 3 years older than him. Ender meets Bonzo Madrid, the commander of salamander army.Bonzo introduces himself and tells him he won’t be participating in any of the practises or battles.
Artillery, fighting, shrieks of pain, chaos, and death accompanied by sprawling brown and green hillsides, crimson rays of dancing fire, streaks of moonlight coming through treetops. Along with wine-tinted waters and icy dews. These are just some of the words used by Stephen Crane in his novel The Red Badge Of Courage. In this novel, Crane dictates the thoughts that go through a soldier's mind, both psychologically and physically. Crane while have never been to war himself seamlessly communicates what life in the war was like through the eyes of one character, Henry Fleming.
A grieving detective goes after the serial killer that he believes killed his daughter, but when he can’t get the evidence, he seeks help from his daughter’s ghost.
