Introduction
When it comes to education, every teacher has a unique philosophy. This is crucial because as a teacher it is very important to be unique. Students will have many teachers throughout their lives, so it is essential that they vary in personalities and styles. Some types of teachers work for some students and some do not. By varying between teachers, students will get the opportunity to experience many different things.

The first thing that teachers apply to the way they educate is the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession (Ohio Department of Education, 2007). As an educator, the Ohio Standards have a large impact on the teaching profession. After studying these standards, the future of teachers will be positively impacted. They are very useful because they outline the basics of how to be successful as an educator. Whenever at a roadblock, the Ohio Standards can be used as a refresher in order to get back onto the track of the ultimate goal of a teacher- to effectively educate the students. Although, some of these standards will be easier to

Although, as an education major, this unfamiliarity does not become an issue because many classes are offered that teach about these differences and how to approach them in a classroom. The best way to approach these situations is with respect, but also intelligence. It is important to understand what the student is going through, but it is also crucial to respect what the child needs. Factors such as privacy and equal opportunities come into play when it comes to respecting children with exceptionalities. A teacher’s main priority when it comes to diversity is to make sure every student has an equal opportunity to succeed and every student has access to the privacy they deserve about what may be going on
The Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession are seven standards to provide an effective learning environment for the teachers and the students. To be an effective educator it is important that each educator is aware of the standards that they should know.
Ohio’s Educator Standard one is one of the most important educator standards that a teacher should become familiar with and follow because it is the bases of how students learn. You cannot expect a chef to make dinner without them first knowing how to follow a recipe or use a range. The same principle goes for the students in our classes. You must understand child development for the age you are teaching and show respect for all the differences your students’ exhibit in order to help everyone grow and meet learning expectations.
Teaching is an extremely important profession as we are responsible for training up the future generations of our community, country and in effect, the world. In order to be a successful and effective teacher there are some basic skills and competencies that one must possess. The experiences that students have inside (and outside) our classrooms, schools and various other institutes will shape and mould their approach to our subjects and to life in general. Therefore, it requires a certain level of skill and training to be deemed professionally fit to enter into this career path and even then, continuous
104-110). With these three features these will make a successful student not only in their K-12 years, but this will also be beneficial to the students in college and as they begin their careers in the work force. As teachers begin to change their ways of teaching to adjust to the common core standards it will create something fundamentally important in the schools system to create successful students. Not only does this take out the state creating state standardized assessments, but now the teachers are liable for that.
“Start Where You Are But Don’t Stay There” by Richard Milner is a book about dealing with diversity in the classroom in today’s day and age. It holds a focus on allowing all students to be successful academically and throughout their lives. Milner talks about several different case studies in which teachers must help students who are struggling. It goes through scenarios with Mr. Hall, Dr. Johnson, Mr. Jackson, and Ms. Shaw, who are all struggling with diversity in different ways. This book holds an importance in expressing ideas and concerns of equality in schools, and I believe it would be beneficial for all aspiring educators to read it.
Educators should critically examine their own values, beliefs, and attitudes related to difference in diversity because we as individuals all have different experiences, beliefs, values and attitudes that can be quite diverse. Staying mindful of this difference is essential in professional practice. For this to really be effective, you need to critically reflect on how your own life events have shaped your beliefs, values and attitudes. Educators must put all assumptions and bias’s aside and keep an open mind when dealing with these differences. For example, by reflecting on your background, you can become aware of biases and prejudices that may impact on your relationship with others from different backgrounds. Once identified, you can then
Additionally, by studying the standards teacher candidates will come to discover many interesting points. In my case, I learned how the standards use scaffolding. The standards build off of each other and become more complex as the grade level escalates. I also learned how much the students will have to know. The
Aside from providing children with academic benefits, it provides them with a better understanding and respect for diversity. Being in a setting with many different types of students with different needs and abilities provides students with a way to learn about differences and how they can help others. In the Success For All study, results showed that the children involved in the study had “a reduced fear of human differences accompanied by increased comfort and awareness.” (Stout, 2001) If children are separated in the school because of their developmental differences then they will never truly learn that it is okay to be a unique individual. The idea that it is acceptable to be different should become a common knowledge to our students. With that knowledge, our students can make the future a better place for everyone. It has been said that the goal of inclusion is to “create a world in which all people are knowledgeable about and supportive of all other people.” (Whitworth, 1999)
On the post there are the activities that teacher do it during the day, and there are the children names and pictures on it, so each child know what is his/ her responsibility in this day. Such as the who is response to be the teacher helper, the light off, and wash dishes. Therefore, the teacher in this activity achieves the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession, which is (5. 3) that says, teachers motivate students to work productively and assume responsibility for their own learning. Moreover, I observed the teacher gave the children paper about “Life safety plan” and she taught them the process and she gave them opportunity to apply it. In this situation the teachers achieve the OSTP, which is (5. 2) that says, Teachers create an environment that is physically and emotionally
The Iowa State teaching standards helped me throughout student teaching, and prepared me to be an effective classroom teacher. Through lesson planning, delivery, and reflection I was able to see how the standards were interdependent with one another. A great lesson cannot be created only using one standard, several standards should be used in every lesson I create as a teacher. Below I will explain how the standards better prepared me for the classroom while interrelating them throughout student teaching.
Launched in 2009, the Common Core state standards have done nothing to help students progress their learning abilities, and have even harmed their ability to be educated. With Common Core, teachers must follow strict guidelines on what to teach and how to teach it, but this one-size-fits-all ideal does not apply to the real world. Former teacher, Susan Rakow,
Markedly, there is a huge difference between a want and a need; therefore, teachers the distinctive concept of equality and fairness is not synonymous. For instance, if a student needs to put on glasses when in class to see the board clearly, equality would suggest that all student in the classroom are given glasses, on the other hand, fairness would be to ensure that the child is in a position to where his or her glasses. In essence, teachers must foster and create an opening and nurturing classroom environment for their students in order for them to successfully distinguish the teacher’s definition of fairness and the child’s definition of fairness. Arguably, this is one of the biggest challenges faced by teachers in ensuring that teaching strategies are appropriate for children who are culturally diverse. In conclusion, a teacher cannot effectively teach students to his or her fullest potential without having a fundamental understanding of a child’s disability or ethnic and cultural background. Therefore, it should be every teacher’s goal for all students in his or her class to exceed
My opinion on these standards is that if they were implemented correctly, then yes they would be effective. Standards shouldn’t be attached to school subjects, but to the qualities of mind it’s hoped the study of school subjects promotes. Also the standards only cover two subjects, english and math, none of the other subjects. The myth that the standards might create efficiencies and motivations to raise achievements is proved wrong by what’s happened in states that have made their own standards. They have some schools scoring well and others terribly. “I have interviews hundreds of teachers who significantly raised student achievement. Not one has ever said it was because of great state learning standards. Good curriculums help, but high-minded, numbingly detailed standards don’t produce them. How teachers are trained and supported in the classroom is what matters,”
Diversity challenges can be affected by misunderstandings in difference of gender, race, class, geographic location, language, religion, family structures, abilities, and family/personal history (Dray & Wisneski, 2011, p Teachers should also understand the deeper meaning of behavior in daily classroom interactions of students who may or may not be labeled with a disability but who present behavior challenges in the classroom (Dray & Wisneski, 2011, p. 31).
Imagine you are dreaming being a teacher, you must accept that there are no doubt that knowledge is the first quality of a good teacher. A good teacher need to enlarge his/her general knowledge on culture, society, biology, geography… to provide students what they want to know. Beside, a good teacher must be a person who are open to change. He/she must know “the only real constant in life is change”. There is a place not only for tradition but also for new ways,
