Shortly after joining a country club in the hills, I became addicted to golf. Golf is a traditional sport that has been around since the 15th century. There are over 35,000 different courses throughout the world with each track having its own unique layout, terrain and hazards. This leads to endless possibilities when searching for courses to challenge your skills on. Courses generally consist of nine holes or eighteen. The options are unimaginable when choosing where to play and it’s just you, your clubs, and a little white ball quietly strolling through some spectacular scenic nature. It’s an extraordinary game that can be played in so many memorable locations worldwide. I had a number of thoughts going into my first round of golf. I wondered what the next hole would bring and whether it would be full of water, sand, or just lined with trees. I traveled toward the east coast scenery and decided to head north to the mountains. This was a drastic change as I headed to the Okemo Mountain Golf Course in Ludlow, Vermont. It was autumn and the middle of the fall foliage season. I enjoyed a glimpse of nature’s splendor while observing all the vibrant yellows, reds and oranges of the leaves. The course was visually so much different, yet I was still surrounded by different fascinating sights in nature. Can you imagine playing at a beach and then playing less than a mile from a ski mountain? The wildlife amongst the course was stunning. I lost my ball on one hole and when I went to look for it I came across a bear. I was scared, but also amazed at what animals live on the grounds of each golf course. There are such a variety of terrains, locations, and animals that I have come to encounter along different courses and it has drastically deepened my appreciation for
