Many students have a difficult time choosing between online education and traditional education. Both styles of education offer advantages and disadvantages to the student. There are many things to consider when making this life altering decision, such as, cost, convenience, time, social interaction, and technology. This information is meant to inform prospective students looking to further their education of the pros and cons of both online education and traditional education. In today’s world and society there are many ways to be educated. Education has become very popular to people who want to succeed and become something better in life. Sometimes life gets in the way and people decide to hold off on school and when they do decide to start they have the advantage to decide whether taking online classes or traditional classes on campus is best for them. In recent debates about online schooling, I have found that the state department of education is currently experimenting with an online schooling system. Although I agree that this could be beneficial to some students who are located in more rural areas of the country, I don't believe it is the absolute best way to solve this educational issue. Over the past few years, people in the educational field have been figuring out ways to incorporate technology into school, but with online schooling I fear we would have to find a way to incorporate personal interaction into technology.

In today’s society, so many people are continuing their education beyond high school. We realize that in order to make a decent living, a degree is most likely a requirement. In some cases even a bachelor’s degree is not enough to qualify for many positions. Nevertheless, thanks to technology, we now have the option to learn online or in a traditional classroom setting. There are very few differences between the two, and students need to understand that as much time and energy will need to be devoted to the online courses as on a campus. “A 2010 meta-analysis and review of online-learning studies concluded that online learning was as good as or slightly more effective than traditional face-to-face instruction” (Mendenhall, 2011).

In order for college students to receive the best education that they possibly can, traditional face-to-face schooling is a better choice than online schooling. College students deserve to receive the best possible education for them, and traditional face-to-face schooling will allow them to get just that.
