My opinion on gun control is that we should have it because what if something like a disease happen to us and the doctor can't find a cure to it and it a put break but then it a big outbreak and cant stop it were going to if we have gun control but then on the plus if we have gun control then there wont be more school shooting A boycott is another form of activism. In a boycott against a business, people protest the actions of a company by refusing to buy its products or services. The purpose of the boycott is not only to voice the opinions of the group. It is also an attempt to get that business to change its actions, usually by threatening the business' profits, as well as generating negative publicity. Campaigns for public office may
In the discussion of gun control, one of the main controversial issues is whether or not there should be more or less regulations put on firearms. In addition, another issue that comes up is whether or not those regulations will have a benefit on society. One one hand, gun regulation proponents believe that stricter regulations restricting the types of firearms and ammunition that can be purchased will reduce the amounts of crimes and make society safer. One the other hand, gun regulation opponents argue that stricter regulations infringe on the rights of citizens and only endanger society more. So what is the answer to the question? Should there be stricter
The matter of gun control has become an increasingly controversial issue. Whenever, a nationalized tragedy ensues that involves gun violence, the question on what to accomplish regarding America’s gun control takes center stage. While exploring this topic, this essay will attempt to discuss the circumstances that prohibit a person from possessing firearms, also regulations to prevent these persons from possessing firearms. Upon reflecting on the personal side of the gun control debate, stricter gun control begins to infringe upon our rights, as citizens and they should concentrate on enforcing the current laws in the books, instead of making additional laws.
With an increase in the number of mass shootings that have occurred in the United States in the last few years the issue of gun control laws has become a prevalent topic of debate throughout American society. This debate stems from two opposing arguments over gun control. Some feel gun control laws are fair and not the contributing factor to these mass shootings, whereas, others feel that there is an urgent need for strict laws in order to end the problem of mass shootings. There are numerous pros and cons to the enforcement of stricter gun control laws but we must note a few things: stricter gun control laws would interfere with the second amendment, it is not the gun that kills it is the individual, and it is ultimately not laws that are
For the economy, I want to strengthen our economy by creating jobs for American workers by ending tax loopholes for corporations. Providing tax cuts to small businesses and investing in a clean-energy economy, while putting Americans to work will rebuild our infrastructure. I would start by providing stimulus for the economy by giving everyone money to spend. When everyone gets the money back, they will simply spend it on products that will put the money back into the economy and jump start the economy and production. I am against waivers for private colleges because it does not work for the less fortunate part of the economy that cannot afford a way of transportation, for their child to get to the private school. The economy needs to cut taxes on small businesses so that those small businesses can grow and growth is what America needs. Part of the way I wish to see America grow is by increasing to our military and keeping us safe, because if we do not insure our safety and security than our efforts to rebuild our economy would have been for nothing.
Every year thirty-thousand Americans die from guns while others have the “privilege” to end up with a disability rather than dying. The men and women who are diagnosed with a mental illness and obtain guns often commit suicide and crimes such as mass shootings, and murders. Because health care providers don't report, the mental illnesses of many people to the FBI, these people are able to pass a background check when they attempt to purchase a gun. Criminals now have more access than ever to gus because of the unlicensed gun sellers at the gun shows. Although the second amendment allows people the right to bear arms, it has become easy for the mentally ill and criminals to acquire guns and gun control should be strengthened for this very reason.
Throughout the past few years, disturbing amounts of mass shooting have occurred in the United States. This is paired with the fact that gun ownership in the United States stays significantly higher per capita as compared to any other developed nation. Lastly, statistics from these tragedies evidenced that most of the weapons used are legally obtained, high volume weapons. It remains clear that as a country we cannot stay at the top in gun-ownership, and consequently have mass shootings decrease. We must examine ways that regulating gun ownership can prevent tragedies.
Gun laws have been the main focus of recent controversy due to the constant media coverage that surrounds the topic and the spike in crimes recently committed containing guns. Recently in the media, there have been many cases highlighted that illuminate just how dangerous these weapons are. These cases include, but are not limited to, the Orlando Massacre and the Virginia Tech shooting. Each of these mass shootings provides examples of how easily assault rifles can be placed in the hands of the wrong people and how detrimental it is that these laws are changed. On the contrary to changing the current gun laws, many people fight to keep these current laws in place and protect their 2nd amendment. Throughout this essay I’ll explore many possible
Gun Control is a big topic right now and this Op Ed paper will be on the very important topic of gun control. How the laws can be improved and how people think it should be solved. Some think that firearms should be banned altogether. Others think that improving the purchasing of guns and more strict laws will improve the gun violence problem. Better education of handling/safety of guns, better background checks and a test on your knowledge of the gun you are wanting to purchase is the best way to solve this problem.
There is a raging battle in the United States court rooms extending all the way to many communities throughout the US. That battle, or to be more exact, question is, “would stricter gun control laws be beneficial to the United States?” There are two perspectives on the ever-continuing question, one being that stricter gun control would be beneficial and cause less harm to citizens, and the contrasting view is that it is a right to be able to own guns, and that they are used for protection and recreational purposes.
Gun control has been a hot topic in the media for decades. The decision to keep amendment two as it is, add stricter regulations, or abolish the amendment altogether has caused a considerable amount of quarrel between opponents of gun control and its advocates. According to Glenn Utter and Robert Spitzer “[t]he Pro-gun forces see themselves as the supporters of a vital constitutional right to keep and bear arms pitted against the “gun grabbers.” Strong advocates of gun control see themselves struggling for a more civilized society against the “gun nuts” and profit-hungry firearms manufacturers and dealers” (2011). They also disagree over whether or not firearms are an independent variable of the high level of violence in the United States (Utter and Spitzer 2011). This topic has also immensely affected politicians and the way taxpayers vote. Barack Obama is the most recent president to propose a gun control amendment. Given his Democratic status, numerous individuals of the same party have voted in favor of his amendment. For this reason, those who oppose gun control tend to vote for Republican leaders, and its advocates primarily vote for Democrats.
America is the most well armed nation in the world. The reason why Americans own so many guns is because of the second Amendment, which states “The Right to Bear Arm”. This amendment guarantees U.S. citizens the right to have firearms. In the freedictionary.com, weapon is defined as, an instrument of attack or defense in combat, as a gun, missile, or sword. There are many kinds of weapons and almost all of them are illegal to use without registration. Weapons are changing over times. Looking back from millions of years ago, Wikipedia wrote that chimpanzees are the first one to be the target of human being using those weapons such as sharp stones and spears. Since then, thousands of weapons are invented, for example, small arm guns. They
In his article “Trust the people: the case against Gun Control.” David B. Kopel(1988) says that we should control guns by applying laws and policies that affect on the owner to reduce the crimes and violence because it is like forbidding alcohol to lowest the number of driving accidents due to drinking. The reasons that the author is talking about is banning guns to reduce crimes and enforcing gun bans.
In Hitler’s Table Talk, 1941-1944: His Private Conversations, Adolf Hitler was recorded as stating “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty” (Hitler, Cameron, Stevens, Trevor-Roper, 2000). The matter of gun control in America has long since been a rather controversial issue, with individuals on the left and right passionately voicing their opinions for their cause. Gail Collins and Michael A. Schwartz both address the matter of gun control in their respective New York Times and San Diego Union Tribune opinion articles, but they each do so in drastically dissimilar approaches.
In my beliefs it will reduce violent crime by keeping guns out of the hands of people who are likely to use it to kill people with i.e. bikies, criminals and those on criminal watch lists will reduce crime.
American Politician Sam Brownback expressed his views on gun control by saying, “I don't think there should be more gun control. I think there should be more education.” One of the most prominent issues in the United States right now is whether or not more strenuous and limiting gun restrictions should be put into place to prevent mass shootings and other catastrophic events in the future. Members of both gun lobby and gun control groups fight vigorously for what they believe in. My interlocutor is a statistician from the New York times named Leah Libresco. Her article titled, “I used to think gun control was the answer. My research told me otherwise” is a great example to use as the article documents her shift from being an avid gun control supporter, to coming to the realization that more strict gun laws might not be the answer. Similarly to Libresco, I feel that severe gun control is not the answer to stopping gun violence in America, as focusing on protecting potential victims, and reforming potential killers, and enforcing a ban on large firearms would be more effective.
