In analyzing the PARCC and MCAS assessments I found both similarities and differences. On the one hand, I found that the PARCC/MCAS are similar in the content and multiple-choice format. They each use the combination of both to answer an understanding of the question. On the other hand, the PARCC, in my opinion, includes more open-ended questions that involved multiple steps and usage of critical/problem solving skills. Also, when taking the PARCC, I found myself making a few minor mistakes and as a result did not get the correct answer (I used the correct big idea in finding the answer). Lastly, I found the PARCC assessment entails requires some prior knowledge activation of math
After a long year of teaching the core curriculum standards, every year in the spring, students are to take a progress test to determine if they have learned the minimum required, to determine if their teacher had taught effectively. When I think about assessments, I think about State assessments, standardized test, Maps, and AYP. However not all assessments are test. There are many different types of assessments, for example, there are comprehensive, formative, summative, and performance assessments. Different types of assessments help guide students to do the very best work they are capable of doing.

I also believe that is important to use different types of assessments throughout the years. Students should be familiar with both selected and constructed response tests. These types of tests have different purposes in the classroom, and so both should be used. Selected response questions are useful in subjects that require the recollection of information, such as history and science. Constructed response tests are useful for subjects where the concepts could be a little more vague and in which there could be multiple answers, such as English. However, I believe that it is important for students to be familiar with both versions, as they will encounter both types throughout their entire academic career. It is important that teachers begin exposing their students to various assessment formats as early as possible, so that students become comfortable with different formats. This will ensure that students do not fail a test, simply because they did not understand the formatting of the test.
Also the TCAP does not assess the entirety of the Colorado Academic Standards, nor does it assess the new standards at the same level of difficulty, which will be expected once the new standards are implemented (Colorado Department of Education). So as of the 2014/2015 Colorado Schools will be implementing the new Partnership For Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) exam which will be based directly on the Common Core State Standards. With the current knowledge that I have regarding the CCSS and the PARCC assessment, I am able to firmly agree that it is not right for a state to move away from the CCSS and institute their own, as well as to continue in using the PARCC as the assessment for the standards. It does not provide the alignment that teachers and students are striving for--goes against the alignment and the idea of providing students across the country with a high-quality common education. This year for the first time the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) will include psychological topics. It will now devote twenty-five percent to these questions. Before psychology was included the MCAT only focused on biology, chemistry and physics. In addition, it will recognize the importance of socio-cultural and behavioral determinants that affect health. What do you guys think about this? I think that twenty-five percent is big if you think about that this is the first time it is included. Do you think that it should be more or less? Do you think it is important that doctors learn about psychology? What about the opposite, which would be therapists learning what doctors do? Should this percentage stay the same or increase in small amounts
Providing health care services in MMC units does get some challenges both in medical services side and technology support side. Some of medical services challenges are how to design in a such small van a functional and consistent services as provided in office at affordable price. And when dealing with patient’s medical history, CHF need to comply with government regulatory standard like JCAHO, HIPPA. Finding the solution for cost of transportation could also be an issue… But with the scope of our analysis we will concentrate on technology challenges that CHF have to face.
As an educator it is very important that a teacher uses different methods to teach the variety of different learning styles, and it is also important that the teacher uses a variety of assessment procedures. People don’t learn the same, and people don’t test the same either. I personally, am horrible when it comes to taking multiple choice and problem solving type assessments. I do better with essay and writing assessments, presentations, and teaching back what I have learned. With the understanding of how I can best be assessed myself, it will be important when I am the teacher that I use many methods to assess and grade my students work.

Collect quality practice tests and question banks for the MCAT preparation. Kaplan, Examkrackers, The Berkeley Review (TBR), Next Step and The Princeton Review offer many practice tests for the MCAT. Either buy them or search the library for these test prep books as they have access to question set and practice tests too. AAMC also provides two practice tests which are quite similar to the actual MCAT exam. The practice tests of Examkrackers, Next Step and TBR are hard and of better quality than the Kaplan and The Princeton Review.
