Padua Academy was founded in 1954. It is an all girls, Catholic High School with a population of about 600 students. Their mission is the 4s’s; sisterhood, spirituality, service, and scholarship. The girls at Padua really value these four words and always try to put them in use throughout the day. They are Division 1 in athletics also. Padua has a student teacher ratio of 13:1 which gives the students a lot of special attention in each class.Just the graduating class of 2015 raised over $19.3 million just in scholarship money, and the tuition is only $11,100. Their schedule is blocked and has seven cycles. So, you don’t have the same classes everyday. Each cycle seven you have an early dismissal as well. From watching the TV series, “Grey’s
The LeTourneau University softball team split a doubleheader with Centenary College on a windy Monday afternoon in Longview.
A lot of catholic schools are closing for many reasons such as a faltering economy, fewer Church members, rising costs and the inability of families to pay, secularization, and changing demographics. The school I chose is St. Agatha Catholic academy, which a is a kids program in Chicago. St. Agatha Catholic Academy is closing at the end no of 2016 due to low enrollment and financial difficulties. They recently turned into a pre kindergarten through the eight grade school last year, they only enrolled twelve children. The pastor of St. Agatha said that "It was pretty much expected. We're at a point (where) the community is inundated with pre-K programs. For me it
Last year, at Kingsland High School’s Graduation Ceremony, Josie Hinze not only receiveed her High School Diploma, but also her Associates of Arts Degree before even attending any college or university. Fast-forward to one year later, and seven Kingsland students will be graduating high school with both their High School Diploma and AA Degree thanks to the collaboration of Riverland Community College and Kingsland High School for allowing high school students to take college-level courses in high school and receive college credit for them. Not only that, but there are several others who will be graduating Kingsland High School with transferrable college credit so their first few semesters might
We, the students of Matoaca Middle School, demand the return of a less cruel grade system, as the current one is simply inadequate. That system has negatively affected or will affect every student at the Matoaca Middle School, and will continue this downward spiral for the coming years. Furthermore, your actions caught us unprepared for the simple hostility displayed with your actions. The signatories pledge their dedication to the cause. We hope that you consider to agree to the outlined request, so that this is resolved quickly. The current system should be resigned to the dustbins of the school’s history, and we can move forward for the future students.
I entered Clara Barton High School of Health Professions in September 2008. This school was widely popular because of its prestigious Licensed Practical Nursing program. The four years of high school was very challenging. When I graduated in June of 2012, I was more than relieved. I was an LPN at the age of 17. Shortly after, a whirlwind of mishaps occurred.
Needs: After-school Programming, Activities, and Scheduling (identify specific kinds, such as sports, arts, personal, and/or social development, etc.; days of the week, hours, how many weeks, school-year, summer): Freire Wilmington students need more academic support- 4 days per week, 1.5 hours per day, after school, in Math, English, Science and Social Studies. The students also need credit recovery teaching and learning opportunities after school 4 days per week and during the summer for 4 to 7 weeks in core classes- Math, English, Social Studies and Science. The students also need more opportunities to learn academic skills and to develop their knowledge and experience in STEM areas and the Arts, as they have few opportunities to learn in those areas in a project-based, self-directed format at home or in their communities- after-school every week and in the summer. The
Many students across the nation are attending schools that have seven classes during each school day as their schedule, one of them being Conroe High School. But behind the scenes, students are not exactly satisfied with these conditions, but they are forced to accept this brutal schedule as part of their everyday lives. That is why Conroe High School’s principal, Dr. Weatherly, should change the school’s schedule to have less, but longer, classes in a single day to create a less stressful environment for the students’ and teachers’ benefit.
I attended the Centennial Christian School to visit one of the student, Ashley, who is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. It was interesting to see Ashley’s care plan that was written by Chris Robberts that outlines care of her stoma, flushing of water every hour at school via feeding tube, administering mediation via feeding, and what to do when the student has a ‘blank stare’ or grand mal seizure.

The Brikelle academy school (Kemps Landing/Old Donation School) is moving to a new building after three years of construction work from the McKenzie Construction, Inc. Teachers and construction workers have worked hard to make this new building an achievement and make it complete. The plan all started on November 2011, so this has been planned for six years and the construction started on summer of 2014. The energy efficient school was 4 months ahead of time making the school to be open also 4 months ahead of time. This building will be bigger for all 1375 students and teachers, gifted dance and art, grades 2-8 and will be moving to the new building April 3rd at Independence Boulevard and Honey Grove Road. The new school location may change
Ridgeway Junior High School faculty and staff alongside some parents of students of Ridgeway find themselves in the throws of a heated debate against other parents on the permissibility of providing students attending this junior high with contraception through the school. Ridgeway Junior High is a low income school located in Maryland, where black, latino and other students of color are in majority. In many recent years, Ridgeway has seen the increase of teen pregnancies, last year alone there was a district record high of 25 pregnant girls, which didn’t include students who didn’t report because they for example, secretly had an abortion. Franklin Junior High which is just outside of Lincoln Heights, where Ridgeway is located, is predominantly middle class white families and sees much lower instances of teenage pregnancy without having to provide contraception at school. The health class at Ridgeway is not that comprehensive, abstinence is preached, but not extensively, it warns of the dangers of teenage pregnancy and STDs,
A follow up to last week's announcement that Our Lady of Fatima School has a location set in Lansing and is looking for both donations and registrations. While the former is needed, the latter is what is necessary for our school to move forward. It makes little sense for us to create a school when the demand does not warrant its existence. With that in mind, if your family is interested in registering for the 2017-2018 school year, please do so as soon as possible.
The Pullman School Board held it’s monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The Board voted to pass a new budget for the 2018-2019 school year, and to continue using the current biology textbooks despite concern from some local parents.
As I read the case study of Elizabeth Meyer School, I find it to be quite like other preschools I have encountered in areas around me in Illinois, whereas there is inclusion with special needs children in a classroom of 10, not 20 students in preschool classes plus there are aides in there for extra support for these children. I do believe that having a dual degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education would only benefit everyone involved in this school setting, yet having aides that are also educated or trained to work with special needs children should be mandatory, because not every aide out there can handle a child with special needs such as autism, Angelman syndrome, Dravet Syndrome, etc. Yet if trained, these aides are
