Hurt is a course we all humans go through and it still have that attachment to you from the person who caused it to happen. Any little thing can cause you to have a flashback on your past. It's a lesson you go through but it's a lesson you never will forget. Its either going to make you stronger or weaker. The various meanings of hurt are highlighted by personal experience, literature and within popular. In fact, there are all types of ways of being hurt but being hurt by someone is a feeling that is never forgotten. For example, "Yeah, Pheoby, Tea Cake is gone. And dat's de only reason you see me back here—cause Ah ain't got nothing to make me happy no more where Ah was at”. In detail, she is upset that Tea Cake is no longer with her. So the only reason she came back so she could be happy again like she once was. If she would have stayed everything wouldn’t have been right for her, her environment would feel so empty. In addition ,from the last quote, Janie had a feeling for Jody but it wasn’t like Teacakes and she says to jody, “You wouldn't listen. You done lived wid me for twenty years and you don't half know me at all. And you could have but you was so busy worshippin' de works of yo' own hands, and cuffin' folks around in their minds till you didn't see uh whole heap uh things yuh could have." To explain, she is saying jody time is almost up on living and he still won’t listen to her. After all them years being together he never gave her time and it's hurting her but he doesn't realize it. Lastly, Janie has a saying to Teacake which is:"You done hurt mah heart, now you come wid uh lie tuh bruise mah ears! Turn go mah hands!" Janie seethed. Janie is thinking Teacake lying to her about that woman and it's hurting her to even think about it. She just doesn’t want to be disappointed by the man who is giving the world to her and is treating her like no other man have ever did to her. Overall, Janie went through a lot but it was just going to make her a stronger woman. It made her appreciate more and will also make her who she is on through her
