Obedience is a recurrent theme in El Laberinto del Fauno, discuss at least two examples and what they represent.
The director Guillero Del Torro uses many motifs and parallels in his film Pan's Labyrinth. The most obvious parallel in the film is the parallel between the real world and the fantasy world of the character Ofelia. Both worlds are filled with danger. At any second in both of these worlds your life could be lost. Del Torro separates the real world from the fantasy world with many visual motifs.

Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro delivers a unique, richly imagined epic with Pan’s Labyrinth released in 2006, a gothic fairy tale set against the postwar repression of Franco's Spain. Del Toro's sixth and most ambitious film, Pan’s Labyrinth harnesses the formal characteristics of classic folklore to a 20th Century period. Del Toro portrays a child as the key character, to communicate that children minds are not cemented. Children avoid reality through the subconscious imagination which is untainted by a grown-up person, so through a point of an innocent child more is captured. The film showcases what the imagination can do as a means of escape to comfort the physical trials one goes through in
Pan’s Labyrinth is an outstanding film. It tackled a lot of aspects of things that was going on during the movie’s timeline. The violence after the five year civil war and how it affected the vast majority of children dealing with these kind of violence on their time. Guillermo del Toro have executed this film wonderfully and went to a place where no regular film would dare to go. The movie started with a scene where a girl was shown dying and this I believe created a lot of interest right off the bat as to why was this girl dying? How can the main character of this film, a young girl, die on this fantasy film? I believe these are the prime questions the viewers were probably asking and it got them engaged right away. Of course these are just
Nothing can be achieved if an individual is not willing to sacrifice; this idea is presented throughout the Movie “Pan’s Labyrinth”, and is effectively represented by the two female characters, Ofelia and Mercedes. The movie develops within a feminized world between two female characters Ofelia and Mercedes, they may be different in age and life experience, however; they share many similarities in characters and relationship with Captain Vidal. Furthermore, Ofelia and Mercedes are closely connected to each other which they share secrets together, as Deborah Levine, PH.D explained: “Mercedes provides the girl with an idealized self object who can not only fight her brutal stepfather but also offer comfort” (Levine 122). This emphasizes the close relationship Ofelia and Mercedes share in order to reveal the connection between them. The movie “Pan’s Labyrinth”, directed by Guillermo Del Toro, tells a story of a young girl names Ofelia explores her struggle returning as the princess of the underworld and saves her brother with Captain Vidal ruthlessly stands in her way, while the other female character Mercedes secretly helps the rebels fight against Captain Vidal and also tries to save her brother. Therefore, in the film "Pan's Labyrinth", the director Guillermo Del Toro, through the use of several props, and the similarities of Ofelia and Mercedes, emphasizes their journey of self-sacrifice, to achieve their goal which is to protect their family and gain independence.
Being scared: As you are sent away while you 're young to a mysterious place with no memories of the past. Most things in life cost something, sadly, and in the Gladers case, sometimes the cost they are making is someone 's life. Throughout the story there are examples of people risking their life in order to benefit everyone and the best that can come. Sometimes there are selfish motivations, and sometimes there isn’t, but it 's pretty bad when an innocent person has to die. In the book ”The Maze Runner” by James Dashner, the definition of being scared applies to Thomas as he is being sent away from his family and life to a place called the Glade, through an underground elevator, without any memories of the past. In the book “The Maze

Setting is one of the vital elements of fiction. A work can only be fully approached if it is first based on its setting, which guides the development of the work. For “Pan’s labyrinth”, an outstanding cinema work rich in symbols, details and meaning, it is even more essential for us to take the underlying context into serious consideration
“Errand into the Maze,” is a captivating and clever piece choreographed by one of the most influential individuals within the dance industry, Martha Graham. “Errand into the Maze” takes it’s audience back into Greek Mythology that portrays a woman, Phaedra, confronting her fears which takes on the form of a man; however, there is more than what meets the eye. She depicts a woman caught within her own emotional maze: the torturing battle of temptation.
Arthur Machen and H.G. Wells were one of the most influential writers in the history of the English language. Through their works, both Machen and Wells illustrated the themes of sexuality and horror by exploring the idea of the supernatural. However, Machen’s gothic novella The Great God Pan (1894) and H.G. Wells’ sci-fi novel The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) further exemplified the theme of humankind’s relationship to God. In the late Victorian period, the influence of religious mythology fell upon writers in England, and stories of the “unseen” became popular and abundant. This era was a time when the public started to seriously question their religious lives. Nevertheless, The Great God Pan was denounced by the public upon its publication for its focus on God as a powerful symbol for horror and sexuality. On the other hand, Wells’ The Island of Dr. Moreau was written as a satire, mocking Christianity and other forms of religion. In this short essay, I will expand on religious symbolism and point out the influence of Christianity using Arthur Machen’s The Great God Pan and H.G. Wells’ The Island of Dr. Moreau.
