Part two: Marina Bay MRT station
The Circle line has a plethora of MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station to choose from and I had chosen Marina Bay MRT station to write about. The Marina Bay MRT station has a unique station design and it is situated on a reclaimed land without any developed infrastructure surrounding it. It is also an underground MRT station that serves on the North South Line, Circle Line and the future Thomson Line. This essay comprises the description of the design and ornamentation style of the Marina Bay MRT station and functions of the facilities such as the entrances, exits and ceilings.
The Marina Bay MRT station entrance is designed based on a park scenery and passage to the MRT station concourse is joined smoothly. The MRT station is mainly made in thick glass and external walls are formed by permanent diaphragm walls which works as the temporary cofferdam. The design of the station also introduces some of the structures such as the reflective pools to provide a peaceful transition between the entrance and the park. The purpose of the light colours and plants placed outside is to portray the elegance of the clear water and allowing the commuters to have comfort and good experience with it. The light colours inside the station made the station looks a little brighter and pleasant for commuters to see. The beneficial of the Marina Bay MRT station is the large canopy of the station allows for maximum natural light and ventilation to flow down to
Trains are everywhere in our society, we have jokes, toys, movies, and children’s television shows, but did you know rail transport started in 6th century Greece? The city of San Antonio, Texas is a fast-growing metropolitan city that has a very tremendous amount of people. It has been estimated that the city will grow by another million people in the next ten to twenty years. San Antonio’s traffic is becoming a huge issue and is quickly approaching to be one of the most congested areas in the states. The public transport in San Antonio consists of a very complex bus system, taxicabs, Trolley’s downtown, and the growing market of ridesharing drivers. San Antonio has had many talks and negotiations throughout the last two decades on getting a Light Rail system constructed to help with public transportation. This proposal is for specific businesses, the city of San Antonio and Bexar County to come to a funding agreement.
We are pleased to attach our tender to the observation deck. This report deals specifically with the engineering design of our design at the new

The team addresses that the main purpose of the study is to address long-term inter-regional transportation problems and opportunities and to consider alternative actions to addrees these issues as part of developing an integrated, multi-modal transportation system that permits the capable movement of people and goods, and provides better economic and transportation linkages between urban growth centres in the GTA west study area (figure 1) (Transportation development strategy report, 2012). In order to finalize the purpose of the study, the project team identified the specific transportation problems and opportunities within the study area (Transportation development strategy report, 2012). They developed, assessed and evaluated a range of Area Transportation System Alternatives to address the identified issues relating to transportation, and opportunities presented within the study area (Transportation development strategy report, 2012). Lastly, the team recommended a Transportation Development Strategy based on the Area Transportation System Alternatives supported onward from the assessment (Transportation development strategy report,
With the constrained scenario, traffic flow has improved, commute time has decreased, workers are getting to their places of business faster, and the businesses themselves are finding that they can transport their goods in a more timely fashion. The measures that were employed consist of adding directional bike lanes to the bridge, restriping the bridge combined with timed directional transition of the middle 5th lane, additional bus routes, and converting old buildings into domiciles. Although these measures have helped to improve traffic flow in the region, capital will have to be spent at a future date in order to add additional
This assignment will be based on Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT). It is located in Toronto Ontario. The project will be finished in 2021. This LRT was made for residence dwellings and Humber College. The LRT distance is 11km long that would be on Finch West.
Cinemas, theaters, and shop markets exists along the Metro Line through downtown’s main railway station projecting light rail vehicles, including he first shopping mall resembling an ocean liner
The Sydney Metro Northwest or North West Rail Link falls under the issue of Land and Water Management. The aim of this Research Action Plan (RAP) is to investigate the implications of the North West Rail Link on the residents of the Hills District by focusing on 3 main aspects: their thoughts on this project, the advantages as well as disadvantages for them.
The railway station is recognised as a fundamental part of the railway network in any location. This research will focus on the unique case study of St Pancras International Railway Station (SPIRS) which is a major international multi modal transport hub and termini in London. The Government over the next three decades is investing heavily in a modernisation programme of the aging railway infrastructure in England. This has been established in the investment in prominent and high value developments such as the London and South East projects, Thameslink, Crossrail and the national High Speed Rail 2 (HS2)
If successful, additional locations will be added. This program is intended to increase ridership by making access to bicycle storage more secure, which will enable people to ride their bikes to the bus stations and commute on public transportation. Before this pilot program was conceived, commuters needed to ride their bicycles to transit stations, lock them up on an unattended rack at the stations or bring them on the bus and store them at their end destinations. Many people do not work in buildings with secure bike storage and theft at the unattended and exposed racks is a concern for riders because bicycles cost hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. Transit staff believes this cumbersome and unsecure process deters bicycle riders from utilizing public transit during their commutes. As a remedy, this project entails building a large secure room with racks for bicycle storage onto transit stations. The rooms will be climate controlled with HVAC systems, security cameras, Wi-Fi access, and have a controlled entry. Nancy’s responsibilities in creating this program included the development of the software that enables customers to register for this program and use their existing go-to cards as a way to access the bike storage area. While the Metropolitan Council uses many different types of software and IS service packages that have varying degrees of customization from 0% percent customized to 100% customized, this particular project was conceived, designed, developed, and implemented completely in house by Metropolitan Council
One of the contributing factors that is going to affect the air quality in the Plan Area, but also the living quality and the residents’ mobility is the transportation impacts. In this section, I will look closely at the impacts with the plan implemented in the Plan Area—VMT, mode share, and TNC; mitigation on cars with the utilization of bike and transit infrastructures—muni forward, Central Subway, and more and improve bike lanes. When talking about transportation, the VMT is very crucial for such an enormous redevelopment like the Plan Area because there is going to be a big increase in the number of residents in the upcoming years. An upward of 25,000 people is predicted to settle within
The following report will provide a critical analysis of the NAIT LRT Project. The report will provide insights into the causes that resulted in the failure of the project as well as will provide recommendations that would help in the success of the project. The reasons for the delay in the project could be classified into improper management, lack of communication and coordination, failure to test the mechanisms of the plan as well as flaws in the design and development of the project itself. The report also provides recommendations for improving the present position of the project like clear definition of roles and responsibilties especially for the top management, through review of formal documentation as well as testing the project before its actual implementation for estimates on cost and time required for its completion. This study is taken from online articles, journals, City of Edmonton website and news channels. This study helps to understand the past and the present position of the project.
Temporary structure conforms the building strength, fire safety, and means of egress, accessibility, light, ventilation and sanitary requirements. The typical open plan with its courtyard enables a lot of natural light and ventilation to fill the house besides encourages social interaction among the users. The courtyard acts as a bridge between the old and the new structure that a new 3-storey pavilion of steel and glass is inserted into the rear without touching both party walls. Another highlight of Sinkeh is the timber walkway or corridor, akin to a 'floating jetty' of steel and timber which was inspired by Penang’s historic Weld Quay clan jetties, is installed with timber blind with the purpose to keep out the
