Everything you do has an effect on the comunity around you. That is why you should be aware and make sure what happens has a positive impact on you and others. One activity that I believe had a positive impact on those around me was when I volunteered for a charitiy event for Driscoll Childrens
Hospital. I feel this way because I was able to collect money for a good cause and to show others how easy it could be to take time out of your day to help those in need.
At first, I didn't know what to do, but I really wanted to do the event. After a few older volunteers helped me understand, I got the hang of it. Participating in colleciting donations was very important to me because not everyone understand that some parents don't have
I like to help people who need it, or even just doing something nice for them makes me feel happy and content. In school I have helped my friends many times and have helped my teachers too. At home I help my parents with anything that they need help with. In sixth grade I completed my five or more hours of service by serving as a safety patrol. It was my duty to keep children safe while boarding the bus, riding the bus, departing the bus, and in the event of an emergency. I had to maintain order at all times and had to always be extremely vigilant of any unwanted or unsafe behavior. During that year I also served as a kindergarten patrol for a few months, making sure that they knew where they were going and were safe, and as a stairwell patrol, regulating movement on the
I raised money for scholarships to camp; helping hundreds of kids come to camp that would be unable to afford it otherwise. Development of a diverse staff was important to me. So I recruited, interviewed and hired central city staff to be part of camp. This involved going to their neighborhood for interviews because they had no means of getting to camp.
Moreover, I often volunteer to do service in my community. I have been doing volunteer work for Walk for Hunger since from 2011. Also I participate many times in school food bank, which school donates food to families who need help. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving them.
During my childhood, I would always want to help out with moving materials and fixing them. These brought me to volunteer at some bigger activities that require to sell and give to individuals. At my school’s concession stores, I sold products for a basketball game. While doing these
I was able to help the community by teaching the kids about God as well as having fun at the same time. I also helped at some of the Youth Elective Service weekends. I was glad to be able to help others that are unable to do the work that needs to be done at their homes. I also liked being able to visit them and make their day a bit brighter because some of those people aren’t able to get out much.
The two things that I can say without a doubt in my mind that I have done that have made a difference are my club, Irmo Arts Outreach, and my work at Lexington Medical Center(LMC) as a volunteer. Irmo Arts Outreach has left an impact more on the community than anything else, and the volunteer work at LMC has changed me more than anyone else. Irmo Arts Outreach was a dream I had, which I was able to make into a reality with the help of a few friends. What we do is go to the VA hospital to perform musical pieces for veterans, to let them know we appreciate everything they did for us and that they are not alone. I started the club, I organized our visits to the hospital, and I got permission for them to let us perform there. On our first visit
I always wondered what it would be like to adopt a child or provide a foster home for a few underprivileged children. I have always had a soft spot for children and I thought that by doing something so small for someone else could be so rewarding in
to try my best to help the kids that I work with. According to FRTV.org, 40% of the homeless population were once

I like to be engaged in activities that contribute to the community. I was part of the Mile of Hope, event used to raise awareness for cancer and fundraise to support the families of those affected. Through my membership in National Honor Society I have contributed in activities such as the annual toy drive to provide children in need with a gift on the holiday of Christmas, I also participated in the annual can food drive to provide families food for a Thanksgiving meal. I volunteered at the Brownsville Public Library assisting the public and organizing books. For a period of time I also volunteered at an income tax company Jackson Hewitt cleaning and organizing the
Having the opportunity to volunteer with organizations that work to enhance the lives of this demographic has been insightful, taught me a great deal, and changed my own perspective on life. It led to the realization of how different our
I have learned a lot. I know so much more about marketing. Nonprofits is a whole new world to me. I have learned just how much we can do for one another. How volunteering and donating relieve stress, promotes others to give and even boosts any and most all companies. Every company should donate to nonprofits. The cause needs us just as much as we need them.
Where I was involved in a sponsored walk and was able to raise funds for charities such as the Toy Library and Save
In order to make my community a better place, I joined a church group that would gather food and water and donate them to the homeless. The church I go to is a Catholic Church named “Presentacion de Maria.” They often do fundraisers to assist those in need, such as homeless, older generations, and people with disabilities. The church would give you the option whether one wants to or not, and I was inspired to help the poor. I was inspired because the thought of making a person’s life happy for even a moment was worth it. Plus, my perspective of donating is increasing the love you give to one. It makes one realize that even if you don't have much, one has enough to share with another. By donating good to the homeless it was sad to see the amount
I volunteered at the Moore Food & Resource Center. According to their website, their goal as a charity is to distribute food freely among individuals that struggle with hunger. They feed more than 126,000 hungry Oklahomans a week, 37 percent of which are children. One in four children and one in six adults struggle with hunger. I have decided to work three hours with them to help them out with their cause. I chose to do this because I have witnessed friends, family, and other people in my life that can barely afford a basic human need such as food, and it pains me to see them this way. I wanted to help participate in feeding those who do not have the luxury to afford much food for themselves. It is a sad thing in a world, one of great suffering in many individuals.
