Imagine there are less than ten seconds left in the game and you are down two points. You are in front of a large crowd. Many of the spectators are people you know, adding to the pressure of the moment. Your mind cannot think straight as adrenaline is rushing through you. People are screaming words which you cannot make out. You dribble up the ball, your thoughts are surging through your mind at the worst possible time. Not knowing what to do, you stop dribbling well behind the three-point line. You heave up a deep shot, with two kids charging at you with their hands up, nearly blocking the ball. However, none of that matters as you just nailed the game winning shot to win the championship game. The crowd erupts for you. Your mind …show more content…
It has always been my dream to get paid for playing basketball, the sport I love. Basketball is a sport which has never bored me. I have constantly used basketball as a source of entertainment whenever there was an opportunity; on a hot summer day or a cold and dark night. My passion for basketball has been with me since Kindergarten and I believe it will stick with me for the rest of my life. One of my other passions as a kid was to cook (even though I could only cook something with the help of my parents), but basketball has always been my number one passion and has stuck with me to this day, and I plan on continuing to enjoy the game for a long …show more content…
In the past I used to play many different sports which I all enjoyed (besides tennis, the one my parents forced me to try) and recently I have made the tough decision to focus on improving my basketball skills and cut some of these sports. An explanation for why I chose basketball is that I love the game, I am good at the game (which always helps you enjoy it more), and I have won two state championships in basketball. Having rarely lost a basketball game over the last few years, I have enjoyed the game a lot more because it is never fun to lose. Currently, I am playing basketball at Xaverian Brothers High School on the Freshman A team. I put a lot of effort into getting better at every practice and I feel that my coach can help me improve, as he as already started to make me an even better
I have been playing basketball ever since I can remember. My family has always been very athletic. My siblings played basketball as well as my parents. My grandma told me a story about how I used to shoot a little basketball into a 10 foot hoop and I would make it. I play in the point guard position. I work very hard at what I do so that makes me advance in my skill for the sport. When I really started to realize I had a passion for it was in 6th grade. We had a lot of new people therefore our team didn't blend great. But even with my team being the way it was I still put everything that I had into it. Two things at the end of the season happened to me that made me realized that if I worked at it I could do great things. One parent on the
Basketball was a new experience to me a few years ago, but i never realized I was going to love it. When I was younger, I’ve always wanted to play the sport of basketball, and I got my opportunity to play when I was in fifth grade at Monte Vista Elementary.
All throughout my life I have remained involved in a wide variety of organizations including clubs, sports, youth groups, and honor societies. My free time is consumed by all of these, and still I am still willing to venture out and attempt so much more. Despite constantly contributing my life to numerous things, it is undeniable that Basketball is what I am ultimately passionate about.
Everyone has that certain thing that makes them who they are. That certain thing for me is soccer. It’s my hobby, my biggest interest, and my passion. Soccer isn’t just a sport for me, it’s my life. It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have played the intriguing game of soccer since I was four years old, and I have loved it ever since.
I fell in love with basketball 7 years ago. What began as a few trial trainings gradually grew into a deep passion for the sport. I realized that I had the flair for it as doing moves like layups came to me very naturally. All I had to do was to observe my coach do an example once, practice the move a few times, and I got it.
I think sports is just for fun and not for money at least now I think but once you graduate college I think that's when you should get paid. I think i would just play for my
It is my junior year of high school and basketball season is right around the corner. I am on the verge of either making varsity or junior varsity this year depending upon my skills. Went through the tryouts and was able to make the junior varsity again for my second year with coach Maloney. I was all excited to play there again seeing I was one out of the three kids that made it back there again. From there it was Cam, Anthony, and I who thought would lead the team because we were the only ones who knew how to run Maloney’s offense and defense well that’s what I had thought was gonna be the case but in reality it wasn't. I thought I would be a starter for the team, but in reality I ended up being a bench player or how I thought of it as a
Watching movies is a great way to learn and study different interpersonal relationships. A lot of them are just like real life situations that happen every day between people. One of my favorite movies is Love and Basketball. I chose to talk about this movie because in my opinion it really focuses on the relationship of the two main characters. There are good moments and bad ones in their relationship with one another. I also believe there are a lot of different things the characters could have done and said that would have made communicating with each other a lot easier. It’s one of my favorite movies and I have learned a lot about communicating from it.
I know there is always a possibility that I won't make a team or won’t start and I’m fine with that and am willing to work for it. Just look at basketball I grew a lot but the stop pushing myself and stayed the same/ fell a little bit. Football even between weeks I’ve gotten better and except more physicality. I’m starting to get into shape anyway and starting to do physical exercise more outside of sports than i have before. I know the weights down stairs aren’t much but I can build up more stamina and do different workouts with them, but playing out in Kiel the coaches will have me workout almost every day and can push more of my muscle groups than what I can here. The weight room here is only opened a couple times a year other than our summer workouts during the summer which I went to almost all. I didn’t go to those ones only because I had things going on that day or we weren’t in Lincoln. I’m willing to give up Lumberjacks basketball and those travel teams so that I can go to Kiel, I don’t know if they any travel basketball teams around Kiel or if they’d take me but it’s fine if I don’t play for them. Also by the time I would go there I would have a driver's license and can switch it over from my Maine License to a Wisconsin License so that’ll help out with any sort of traveling.
Sue Bird, one of the greatest basketball point guards in the history of the WNBA has passed away today at the age of 36.
My passion for North Carolina basketball began the moment I understood what basketball was. One evening while we were watching a game, my father, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, declared me a fan of the Tar Heels. Without any objection, I made the decision to be a fan. Little did I know that I would have countless memories on account of this decision.
I have always been told that I got blessed with my genes. Everything I do athletically just comes natural to me. I have had the opportunity to play multiple sports whom of which I have had success in. In all of the sports I’ve participated in I have loved soccer the most and track is just the most natural sport for me. I’ve played soccer for over half of my young life. Soccer just makes me happy when I play. I have also been blessed by being average at soccer too. I didn’t do well my 9th grade season so coming into being a Sophomore I wanted to change that. I worked hard in the off-season and I became a varsity Captain and I finished the season 3rd in the area for assist and was a 2nd team All-District player. I was proud of myself but i knew I didn’t give it everything I had.
Ambitious, determined, and committed all these words and more describe senior Michael Wright’s love and passion for basketball. When Wright was in middle school many teachers and administrators labeled him as a troublemaker, so when he came to practice freshman year coach Lester King made sure to tell him about being a leader and how important discipline is to them. Ever since the first day of practice Michael has been a poster child of the perfect player.
The sight and sound of watching the basketball swish through the net are second to none. For this reason and much more, I have fallen in love with the game of basketball and all the sport has to offer. From an extremely young age until now I have played the game and I hope to be either playing or involved with the game as long as I live. I have tried many other sports including soccer, football, and lacrosse but none can compare to the pleasure and passion that I have for basketball. This has become more than a sport for me, it has become a passion and something that I have dedicated my time, energy and hard work into.
“Basketball is my favorite sport, I like the way they dribble up and down the court” – Kurtis Blow. My love for basketball started when I was very young, fifth grade to be exact. Growing up I always wanted to try out for my school’s basketball team. When I was young I use to always hear stories about my mom playing basketball throughout junior high and high school. Some of which made me want to play and do something that she loved to do. I eventually started loving the sport as much or even more than she did. This story goes way back to the fifth grade when I first tried out for the basketball team at my elementary school.
