High-quality nursing is a right way to patient’s correct diagnostics, treatment and recovery. The role of a patient’s assessment is one of basic steps in the process of a patient’s care and treatment. Subjective and objective assessment skills define in the process of interaction of a nurse with a patient. According to one of recent studies, “Nurses are responsible for comprehensive health assessment of patients, and now more than ever, expected to provide timely assessment and deliver high quality care in hospital environments” (Penney, Poulter, Cole, & Wellard, 2016). There is a need for modern nurses to apply a wide range of assessment skills, which depend on the educational background of a nurse. Collection of objective and subjective data represents primary steps in nursing care. Nurses collect objective data based on their senses, and they can measure or observe a patient. For example, temperature is one of objective data examples. Nurses can also measure heart rate, evaluate wound appearance, provide patient with ambulance description or measure blood pressure, and assess respirations. Subjective data represent another challenge for nurses. At this point, a patient tells a nurse about his health condition. For example, he can say that he has been coughing for more than five days already. The same trouble with pain, because when a patient tells about it, he refers to his own feelings.
