I am writing to express my enthusiasm at the prospective of working as a Peer Career Advisor for the Career Center. Indeed, I have immensely benefited from the feedback of PCAs throughout my time at Amherst and I thus recognize how useful and essential such guidance is. The numerous PCAs who have assisted me have been able to strengthen my skills when it comes to resume and cover letter writing. They have also provided me with useful career counseling when I was questioning whether medicine was the right path for me. They were not only able to pinpoint from where my doubts precisely stemmed, but they also provided me with sound advice based on their own experiences as Amherst students. I now believe that I am currently competent to assist my peers in such a valuable and constructive manner.
As a premed student, I have consistently sought on and off-campus experiences to learn more about the multifaceted medical field. I have worked in various settings, in multiple countries and continents. In the summer of 2014, I provided care management support in a safety net clinic in San Francisco. I assisted the clerical staff and healthcare providers in order to improve the

I would like to raise awareness among the student body, especially first-years, about the resources available at the Career Center. Indeed, I believe that the Career Center provides valuable career guidance and opportunities, which every student can benefit from. Thus, I wish to increase joint programming between first-year Residential Counselors and the Career Center.
Thank you for considering my application to the position of Peer Career Advisor. I have attached my resume and unofficial transcript as required. If you would like any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 413-801-8355 or
I would like to pursue counseling as my career and become a successful leader in the field. I have always had a passion to assist people in emotional distress. As a qualified professional in the counseling field, I would be able to identify their problems as well as offer them the most appropriate solutions that may help them deal with their situations. However, working as a professional counselor requires that I possess the relevant skills and knowledge that would enable me to offer quality services in which I think that I can obtain the skills at Capella University. As a
As a medical assistant student I participated in a month long internship at North Country Family Health Center in Watertown New York. I was interning at the Health Center where I was active with many Medical Assistants and LPN’S.
Beyond the immediate exposure of healthcare best practices and how to address each situation with its own urgency; it has molded me to develop the skills necessary to balance a busy schedule to meet deadlines. Keck Medicine of USC has taught me to only accept the highest standards while being forthcoming and endearing with research for any project. Entering into healthcare from a completely different career path has been nothing short of challenging. This change of career required me to refocus my efforts and abilities to become a team player within an office setting and learn a new dialect only known within the health care community. All the skills and knowledge I have obtained required a great amount of perseverance and dedication outside the workspace to become a successful employee. I have no doubt that the dedication my career has bestowed me with, can also be applied to my education and will help me succeed within the USC environment. With this is mind, I have come to the conclusion that I am prepared to commence my graduate education at USC in pursuit of a Master’s Degree.
“Career services will be down here to provide networking and career planning,” Everhart said. “We’ll also have in our office down here a group that’s from the health center to help with any type of questions.”
With great willingness, I am applying for the position of Senior Program Development Specialist with the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative. My longtime friend, Madelyn Keck, learned of the position and suggested I apply. I am seeking both a change and a challenge and this opportunity provides both. My education, skill-set, and experience make me an excellent candidate for this vacancy.
I did not know much about the health care field then but in that moment, I felt as if the health care system failed since the day he was born. This experience made me become eager to be a part of making a difference in the health care world. The lack of managed care caused the life of my nephew, and for this my passion for Science and the need of helping others only manifested because of my experience. My aspirations were to become a Registered Nurse and specialize in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In my early college years, I also became a part of the UCLA team through an internship program. UCLA Care Extenders allowed me to gain valuable knowledge. As an intern, I did clinical rotations and was able to discover what takes place behind closed doors. However, what lead me into
This email is in support of my application for the Medical Assistant position at your medical practice in Northwest Atlanta. I am excited to find this opportunity because it closely aligns with my interests and future aspirations of becoming a Physician Assistant. What is being offered is an opportunity that will allow me to hone and polish my interpersonal, communication, and technical skills, but to also develop new skill sets that some health professionals lack. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biology from Agnes Scott College and a Master of Public Health from Morehouse School of Medicine. As a Biology major, my coursework allowed me to understand the study of life and how disturbances in the biological systems can influence one’s health. I loved this form of science but realized that managed care plays a greater role in the healthcare system. Thus, I minored in public health and later obtained a Master of Public Health to not only strengthen my knowledge, research abilities, and writing skills, but to also gain the ability to think critically and make decisions that will optimize the benefits of the patient. Both educational experiences have provided me with a solid foundation to build my medical career. I am a very intelligent young woman with a deep interest in two diverse approaches, which will ultimately help bridge the gap between patients and the community. Ultimately, I want a career that not only interacts at the individual level, but at the population level as
On the first night of my Lifestyle and Career Development class we each were assigned a partner to work with for the purpose of learning how to initiate a career counseling case study. My partner for this assignment was Ellen, she and I have collaborated for the last three in a half months, providing one another with as much information as possible to make the outcome of this experience as authentic as possible.
In addition to assessments, career counselors have a duty to provide clients with information that is high quality and conforms to the guidelines of professional associations, as well as, assisting them with processing and making sense of it (Niles & Harris-Bowlsbey, 2013). This information may take the form of printed information, computer-based systems, and websites, and must be: (a) readily available, (b) appropriate, and (c) user-friendly. One way to ensure this information is readily available to the client is to create a list of resources, or a resource library, which is appropriate to the target population, and includes a summary of the information provided and how it may be accessed. While not
Although I am having a great time in Davidson, North Carolina, I would prefer to live in a colder region, especially if I were to study during the summer. For this reason, I began searching for a medical school in a northern region, and I learned about MCW. Among many great attributes, early clinical experiences and extensive interprofessional education (IPE) motivated me to apply to MCW. After spending the entire summer shadowing physician at St. Mary Medical Center, I learned two things from my attending physician. He told me to focus on clinical experiences, since that will help me to interact with patients better, and learn to cooperate with other medical stuffs, since they could foresee problems that physicians may not detect at a first
After my undergraduate career, I entered a gap year to continue exploring the PA career and the healthcare path as a whole. Currently, I work as a full time medical assistant at a primary care clinic and each day I learn about the diagnosis and medications prescribed to patients. I also gain a better grasp of teamwork and the tests we run for patients. Aside from working, I have also shadowed various PAs in different areas of healthcare to gain a wider perspective of the limits and freedoms of the PA career. I was able to ask the PAs regarding their schooling and career which ensured that the PA path is the route I wish to pursue. Nevertheless, to keep my mind sharp, I indulge in my intellectual curiosities through this gap year by studying
I have had the pleasure of serving as Samuel’s career counselor since he started his undergraduate studies here at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). Let me begin by stating that serving as Samuel’s career counselor has been a very humbling experience. Samuel is the type of student who causes one to question their own educational efforts. At SUNO, he has earned a 3.9/4.0 GPA in Biology while being active "on and off" our campus. When I say that Samuel is active, I mean very active! He has served as a class president, a student tutor, a peer mentor, a summer Research
The counselor might prepare career exploration fairs in their campus to inform students of the services available to them through the Career Center. Also, the counselor should be aware of the diverse population they are working with and understand that each student needs might be different depending on their unique interests. For the professional to do their job efficiently, they might be part of associations that focus in promoting career development such as the Career Development Commission. This will help the professional develop more knowledge of their
Janice Tester has been working as a Career Advisor for McGill Career planning Service Office (CaPS) for over 17 years. In 2014, I started to serve as a peer educator in CaPS office and Janice became my supervisor since then. Despite the fact that we worked closely together in the past two years, I never get a chance to know her accomplishments in the job and how she perceive her work. This became my initial motivation to interview her. Another reason is that, given the importance of career advising service in McGill, its performance is difficult to evaluate. A throughout analysis on this position can be helpful for its performance improvement.
