Perpetua and Cicero agree that the good life should be followed. Perpetua thinks that the good life is found in only one way, by staying true to her faith. However, Cicero thinks that the good life is achieved by being morally good and that people achieve a state of happiness when following this type of life. Although they have different views of the good life, their writings agree that living the good life produces happiness and should be pursued.

Pertelote acts like a wife who does not want the inconvenience of a sick husband. Form the initial 'Fy on yow, herteless, I of the beloved', her speech becomes full of medical knowledge and erudition and ends with the triumphant homely distinction 'pekke hem up right as they growe and ete hym yn'. She is far from a suppressed individual and acts like a learned diagnostician and doctor. This is a far cry from the role of a mere hen.

Minerva begins to talk about getting an education and says, “It started with Patria wanting to be a nun. Mamá was all for having a religious in the family, but Papá did not approve in the least. More than once, he said that Patria as a nun would be a waste of a pretty girl...Finally, Papá gave in to Mamá. He said Patria could go away to a convent school if it wasn’t one just for becoming a nun. Mamá agreed.”(Alvarez, ch. 2). The Roman Empire during the middle ages and the time of Perpetua was a period of great changes in attitudes, beliefs, and understanding of Christianity. The Martyrdom of Perpetua was written by Vibia Perpetua accounting her imprisonment and visions from her persecution by Septimus Severus after declaring her faith in Christianity, then later the story was completed by martyr Saturus. Therefore, making her story a primary source, as is Paula’s story described in the letter to her mother from St. Jerome. Perpetua’s story is about her persecution and death due to her Christian faith, this varies quite differently from Paula’s position as being created for the purpose of serving God and Christianity as a nun; nonetheless, there are similarities between these two women’s stories.
During this time, Perpetua’s brother asked her to ask God in prayer if they would be released or if the imprisonment would result in death. Perpetua was given a vision of a golden ladder laden with iron weapons leading to heaven with a dragon crouching at the bottom. The two ascend successfully in the vision, and after Perpetua related this to her brother, they decided that it meant that this imprisonment would lead to their martyrdom and not their release. Perpetua writes, “We understood that it

Throughout the novel, Patria’s faith is emotionally challenged by God, the government, and her family. Foremost, God tests Patria when her baby is stillborn. Her recovery and gain of courage is evident when after burying her baby, Patria says: “I began slowly coming back from the dead” (53). Patria’s coming to terms with her loss is exemplified by this. “It is well known that in early Christianity, martyrs awaiting death could exercise and manifest extraordinary powers” (Klawiter, 1980, p. 245). Perpetua is an imprisoned confessor; “strict logic would lead one to conclude that an imprisoned confessor could have the status of a minister” (Klawiter, 1980, p. 245). The four visions Perpetua has in The Passion of Perpetua and Felicitas are important because, it is through these visions that we can see the development of ministerial powers through her martyrdom.
Do you know what peripheries means? Well I do, it means the outer limits or edge of an area. There is one amazing Saint I know of who spent most her life going out of the peripheries of the Catholic Church, Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne. Saint Rose was born August 29, 1769 in Grenoble, France. Saint rose was born into a wealthy family with very high political and very high financial connections. She learned political skills from her father and her love for the poor from her mother. Her father was a eminent Lawyer and her mother was a Perier. Rose had no siblings, that people know of(Rcjs, 2013).
The priest interprets the sudden plague as just punishment for the sins of his people. He mentions that his first sermon is still relevant. He declares that the unanswerable question of an innocent child's suffering is God's way of placing the citizens of Oron back to a wall. It tests their faith because it requires them to either deny everything or believe everything.
What is the true purpose of religion, and how does an adherent’s obligation towards their religion affect the way they live? Persepolis, a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi, follows the author’s former self who is a young girl trying to make sense of her religion, how she should interact with it, and the way in which it affects the world around her. Religion inspires Marji to become a prophet in the beginning of her childhood, yet it ends up leaving her without a group to identify with, subsequently driving Marji into rebellion.
For my report, I want to write about Jocelyn Peralta — my mother. I am not writing about her just because she is my mother. No, my paper will not be about motherhood or being a woman. It will be about her as a person, how her wounds of the past left scars that are still visible in her present and how it influences her character. Painful experiences affect a person in both positive and negative ways and there is nothing that can be done to change that. the only thing one can control is how to deal with it.

The god was worshiped under the form of a living serpent 21. In the salutation to Pergamos another revelation of the Godhead was set forth by his association with the sharp two edged sword, which is the word of God. Hebrews 4:12, Ephesians s6:17. Pergamos were commended for their work, but was told salvation is by grace and not work. Nevertheless, true salvation will bring forth work that is pleasing to God 1 John3:7. The evil ways of Pergamos repudiated the lives that were built upon the word. Daily they go further from the truth, their actions bore witness to the depth they had sunken. Christians in Pergamos were experiencing great persecution but they held fast to their faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. They were confident that their sin was forgiven. They held fast in Jesus’ strength and they cling to the assurance of
