Maiya means goddess of spring and Munroe means man from Ro. I was told my mother named me after Maya Angelou because of how much of a powerful and influential person she was. My mother added an “I” in my name to make it unique and also so I wouldn’t bring shame to Maya Angelo if I turned out to be a horrible person. The photo I chose was a photo of a lady taking a photo of the Eifel Tower. Conducting research helps me understand why this photo describes me and why I chose photography for my career path. I chose this photo because I want to travel the world and take photos of every appealing sight I see. I have always wanted to go to Paris to see the Eifel tower and I can use photography to capture the moment. This photo shows all the opportunities I am going to have to travel the world and to show off my work. I can adapt to any situation so I know traveling won’t be a hard thing to do. It also shows my creativity and how observant I am. Because I am such a creative person I don’t prefer to work a nine to five job. I want to be a photographer but I also want to be in video production. I want my work to have a purpose and be influential to other people. …show more content…
Even though it’s hard right, now I have to persevere through it all and graduate so I can start my career. I plan on going back to school for video production so I can be proficient in many areas and have a back up plan for my career. There are many obstacles that I will have to over come but I have to remember to stay calm because I know I am capable to do anything I put my mind to. There is a quote that has always spoke to me and will influence my photography.
“Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.” –Don
Photography can do so many things for human lives as well as the human experience. To start, photography can force us to act. Every day, millions of people across the world hope to make an impact. They want to help those who need it, these unsung heroes strive to improve the lives of those in need. How can they spread their message or their cause to those who have no idea it exist? They could go to the news and tell the story of what they are trying to do, and get help for those in need. But to truly make an impact, they can share a picture. This picture makes the plight of those in need real. You can see the suffering on their faces, the desolate surroundings, and the help they truly do need. Pictures bring to light what we may not see, or may never hear of.
Through the lense of any camera bestowed upon me, I find it my duty to capture the beauty in the things around me. While in college I hope to learn the fundamentals of Photography, gain more practice and become a professional photographer. My passion for photography is strong and I’ve been able to get a lot of experience with the camera in and out of school. I've photographed events for my church, I’ve been in the multimedia program at my school for three years as well the school yearbook. I’m currently the Editor in Chief. While traveling with my camera I hope to meet new people which will allow me to learn about new cultures and their traditions. I’ll be able to get a real life experience by eating, speaking and living how other
When living in Seattle, WA with my mother, things were not going well. I moved back to Atlanta with my father when I turned 11 years old. Ever since then, many blessings have come into my life. I attained the hobby that allured to me the most which is photography. My love for photography started five years ago. In seventh grade, I used an old digital camera to take photos of casual subjects such as animals, nature, and portraits. In Eighth grade, my parents bought a professional digital camera for the family, but I ended up using it way more than intended. That was when I built up the quality of my work and my photography improved. I consider myself as a bubbly person and If I am passionate about something, I will work for it. My extracurricular activities inhere of photography, marching band, and soccer.
Apart from Speech-Language Pathology, photography is another passion that has allowed for my growth and healing through the last eight years. I originally picked up a camera to document my everyday events. Thankfully, time and rehabilitation remedied my terrible memory, but I began to view the world differently, through the lens of my
Lately, I discovered the reason for my lack of shooting. I felt that I had taken a picture of everything and that I needed a new place. Something less mundane and more extraordinary. In reality, I needed a change in perspective. A photographer’s job is to present the world around them in unique, visually aesthetic ways
Photography has a rich history, and I engage my students to research the photographers of the past as well as the contemporary scene as part of their learning. An understanding of the history of photography and contemporary practice inspires them to refine their artistic goals and to articulate their own ideas. Students are also encouraged to experiment with different techniques and to challenge themselves on a variety of subject matters.
I have loved photography with a passion since the first day I took a picture. It all started when my parents gave me my first camera. I was very young, only seven or eight years old. It was your classic simple disposable film camera. It didn’t matter to me though; it was the coolest piece of technology I had ever seen. Within a few days of taking picture I used up all the film and was ready to go out and get it developed. A couple days past and my pictures came in the mail. From that day forward I’ve spent a lot of my time perfecting my techniques and final products. Over the years I switched from film photography to digital single-lens reflex photography and started shooting on many different cameras. My parents saw my passion so they invested
After receiving a BFA Degree, my career vision consists of becoming a freelance photographer who submits to publications, magazines and books. In addition, I plan on setting up a website to sell framed prints to individuals and collectors. Ultimately above all, my goal is one day to see some of my life’s work hanging in a museum exhibit. In the meantime, I will continuously work on improving my craft in photography by reading the landscapes through composition and following where the light leads
Photography is one of those things that the only way you can get better is by practicing and experimenting. Although, you can get different gear like lenses, flash, etc., but you’ll only get so far in photography because you’re solely relying on gear and that’s what separates a good photographer from a great photographer. It’s always good to carry it around because you never really know when you’re going to have such an opportunity. Some people have asked where I get so much inspiration for this and I simply reply with ‘Instagram’. An account such as @13thwitness gives me so much inspiration alone but you can never have too much to influence you to become this person you want to become.
“Photography is the ability to enclose what you have seen in the frame, but the ability to

“Nobody can ever hide behind a camera. Accept the fact that when you make pictures you are revealing a lot about yourself”, stated Patterson and Gallant (2007, p. 13) to explain that all photographers put their passion and their vision in the pictures they are taking. Currently, the use of photography is exponentially expanding, for business and personal use, because of the use of technology. For ordinary people, photography is a collection of memory, lifestyle, and relationships. For enthusiasts or hobbyists, they are people who want to demonstrate their self-representation and self-expression. All these feelings and reasons have been transforming in the digital environment, even though there are advocates for the traditional (House,

In my reflection of photography, this was really worth examining because I started getting into photography through a Youtuber name Justin Escalona. He does photography for a job and goes to a school out in California called USC. I have been watching his videos for the past month and it is so interesting that he gets to travel across the country whenever he wants. It is a dream job for him and he loves it because he said, "you make the story." I find that to be very true because a class can only teach you the skill, but your photos capture your story and it tells something about you. His video have taught me so much, and he uploads his everyday adventures which I find super fascinating. I want to be like him one day and do it as a hobby. My bucket list is to explore and
