My Big Mistake
I woke up in the ER having no clue of the past 5 hours. The lights were glaring and bright and then the doctor came in the room… 8 hours ago my neighbors were having a birthday party at their house. It was for their 5 year old daughter who was turning 6 and who my sister was good friends with. In comparison I was 7 turning 8. My entire family was going to the party since the neighbors were good family friends. At this moment I didn’t know that I would make the stupidest decision of my life.
My mom said “Come on Mason let’s go to the party now.” I picked up my dinosaur toy and started to walk over to the neighbor’s house with her. As I was walking to their backyard I noticed a large piñata in their front yard attached to a tree. As we walked into their backyard there was a huge platter of food on a folding table waiting for somebody to eat from it. A couple other families were there and their kids were playing tag. I saw my sister running from another kid who was around the same age maybe a year older. Once the kid tapped my sister I asked if I could play too and my sister said sure. It was a warm June night and after about 10 minutes of playing tag I was sweating like crazy.
I went inside to get a drink of some sort and to get in the air conditioned house. As I walked up I heard my mom talking about something with the neighbor. I went up to my mom and asked her what I could have as a drink and what to eat. She told me there was milk that I
“Me too, oh my gosh I have been waiting for like 8 months ever since the trailer came out,” replies Lauren.
I would like to talk about celebration of my 36th birthday. October 20th was a regular Friday mooring for me. I was a bit nervous because I had the final exam of my Psychology class, I felt ready and prepared but tense at the same time plus the morning traffic was not helping at all, on my mind the only thoughts were “I don’t want to be late, I don’t want to be late”. After my exam I felt so happy, all my worries flew away, I knew I had done a good job, I felt it in my guts. My professor said good bye and that was it, no more stress for the weekend, I was ready to start the celebration of my birthday.
The parents were fed up with our wild animal like behavior and told us to play downstairs in the basement. We all went down the basement and started to playing tag. Therefore, we had to be careful playing because the basement was not finished at the time and had metal studs where the walls are supposed to go and the concrete floors that are now hardwood. When everybody went upstairs because they were as tired as an olympic runner after a meet my Dad came down to fix a light bulb. He used a ladder to fix it so he could reach and when he was done he went upstairs so I was the only one in the basement. I wanted to be like my Dad so I decided to climb the ladder. I was at the top when my foot slipped off the ladder. Somehow I was able to turn my body around and grab onto a pipe to stop myself from falling. I felt the pipe starting to brake so I decided to swing on to the metal stud next to me because I was sure that was going to hold me. When my
My family and I went to Colorado Spring for christmas break. We packed up all of our stuff then we put it all in the car. When we got done putting all of our stuff in the car we left we got on the highway. As soon as we got on the highway I took a nap. I woke up when we were in Colorado we were almost there. I was talking to my parents until we stop to get gas. I sat in the car until my dad got done filling the car up. We drove for a little bit and we were in Colorado Springs. We drove to my Aunt's house when we got there I took my stuff in the room I stay in. My cousin came from downstairs and said “Hi ” then he went back downstairs. My aunt put on a movie to all watch together. My grandma was cooking something for all of to eat when the movies was over I went to the kitchen to eat. I went to the kitchen table to talk to my dad. When my dad got done eating We heard a knock on the door we answered it and it was on of my uncles and aunts then my cousins walked in.
Most people think that their birthday is a day to celebrate themselves with cake and presents. I had a different experience. On my seventeenth birthday, I experienced an event that could compare to the complete opposite of a birthday. At the end of that dreadful day, I realized that we can only take life one day at a time.
It was a cool friday evening. We had just finished scrimmaging at Fisher Field, and we were all loading onto the bus. We made our way to the school and went home. I remember calling my dad so he can come and pick me up. Once my dad came around I was thinking about what my mom made for dinner, and how much homework I had to do that night. I got home safely, and started walking towards the house until I hear my little sister coming up to the door to greet me. I found it strange, as she never does this. I greeted her back, and made my way to my room to put my bag away. I made my way back downstairs to go and eat, but I saw my mom sitting there and smiling. She told me to come over and guess what she had on her lap. I had an idea to what she
Then, my mom had just arrived from work, at Banner Gateway as a microbiologist, and a future Physician Assistant. Since she had just come home, she was extremely exhausted after working from 7:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m, so she went straight to sleep. After the most amazing breakfast ever, my dad, little sister and I left the house at 7:53 a.m, as I remember exactly. Everything was perfectly normal, until my dad got a call. We still hadn’t left our neighborhood when my aunt had ever so mysteriously called my dad screaming over the cell phone. After hearing this, I knew something really terrible happened and would effect my family forever. I wasn’t sure what happened, but I was willing to figure it all out. My aunt lived in the same neighborhood as my family, so we turned the car around and zoomed towards her house as fast as we could. As my father opened his door and hustled out of the car, I had
After finishing viewing the apartment we could potentially move in and then deciding that it wasn’t what we wanted we walked out. While walking home and feeling the bright warm sun touch my skin I recall my mom and an old friend seeing each other again after years of not seeing each other. Since they wanted to catch up they decided we should all go to the park across the street from the apartment we initially wanted to rent. While walking to the park with my mom, siblings, my mother’s friend and her kids, I could feel the excitement that I was feeling while seeing the green and red playground. They sat down on a khaki plastic bench that was located just in front of the slides in the park. All of us kids decided to play tag and after a while
I was a very energetic two year old who was ready to play after a long nap. My family had just gotten back from a trip to Columbus, Ohio. The trip couldn’t have felt longer. When I awoke I recall not being able to remember the trip at all. Almost as a drunk who had woken up after a long night of partying. I immediately got out of bed and headed for the living room where my mother was sleeping and my father was working. With both of them being busy, I decided that the best plan was to find my
My uncle and I went on the Sting Ray which is like a huge u that goes up high in the sky. While we were going down I had to be going down backwards it was scary because it felt like I was fall backwards. Then we had to head back to our hotel. Once everyone was ready we went to Denny’s to eat supper. When we were in there it was cold because I didn’t change because I was going to go to the indoor pool. While we were eating my mom secretly got us sundaes so we were so happy. We left Denny’s when we were done eating we went back to the hotel. My sister said ‘let’s go to the indoor pool. While we were in there this old man came in and starred at us so we got out and left the indoor pool and the man followed us out and so we ran to the hotel it wasn’t that far away so we were okay. The next morning, we got up and my mom tells me I tried to crawl in bed with my older sister and my younger brother. Then at like 10 in the morning we got ready and me and Louie went to the indoor pool. After a few hours we went back to the hotel and every one was ready so we went back to Noah’s
My mom and I were on our way to visit my grandma in Chillicothe. We rarely see my grandma, so it was nice to visit her. When we arrived my grandma was cooking dinner. She was making homemade french fries, while my grandpa cooked hamburgers on the grill. I was only 8, so I was very hyper to go outside and play. My mom said after dinner you can stay outside until we left. After eating everything on my plate, I was stuffed and didn’t want to go outside. So we decided we would just go home and go to bed, but I wanted to stay at my grandparents house, I finally convinced my mom that I should stay.
This is what I remember…..It started January 25, I had just got done with practice and mom asked if I wanted to go out to grandma and grandpa’s and like always I quickly said yes. When we arrived at their house they were walking out the door to go out for dinner but when they saw us they turned back and went inside. We talked for a little while about many many things but what I remember most is that grandma told us her blood pressure and heart rate was up. Mom didn’t think anything of it cause she had been to work with her that day and I didn’t think anything of it cause I was only 14. Anyway we were there for about an hour just talking and then we started heading out but before we left I just had to pull down my ball sock and show them the new trophy I got on my leg at
My sweet sixteen birthday party was exactly that: sweet. Every girl wants their sixteenth birthday party to be spectacular, and while mine did not necessarily have all the bells and whistles it was fantastic. There were games, singing, dancing, even a Ouija board made an appearance, but by far my favorite was the photo booth. Small props were on a table while a high-tech camera was situated in front of a plain canvas backdrop. Several photos were taken in the span of two hours, yet the most special one was the final photo of the night. Just before being taken down, I forced everyone in attendance into the frame, resulting in a series of images that hold more memories of sixteen seconds then I could have had created in two hours. That photo will always hold many significant memories for me because it includes a majority of my friends, was taken in a chaotic manner, and captures the mood of the party in four images.
It is April 4th. It is my 21 birthday.21 years ago I was born and got named Thea. My mom Emily, dad James, sister Maddison, and brother Liam are coming over to celebrate my birthday. There are a few things I must do before they come.
It was November 4th, 2015, my 16th birthday. I was so excited because what teenager does not get excited when they finally turn the age where you can drive a car! I did not get a car for my birthday, but I did not care at all. I just wanted to drive someones car whether it was my parents or mine, I wanted a car to just drive around the block one time blasting Chris Brown. I was sitting in the living room waiting for my mom to come home to tell me that I can go take her car for a spin. Finally, she gets home and walks in the door. She then says “Kids come in the living room I have some important news.” Well me thinking about myself at that time was thinking I was getting a car, because she made it seem like there was a surprise for me. She tells everyone to take a seat. Me, being all anxious for the news, squirming around, yelling at my brothers to all sit down so we can hear my moms news, realizes my mom does not seem to happy. She eventually gets it out of her, and says “I know this is not the kind of thing we want to hear today, but it needs to be said.” I then say “well come on now spit it out, we all know you got me something crazy for my birthday.” She said “phoebe I know it’s your birthday, but this is not about you at the moment and I need you to understand how hard it is to tell you this on your birthday.” I said, “I’m not exactly sure what you’re talking about, but if you would tell me I would really appreciate it so I don't have to keep guessing what you’re trying to tell us.” It took her a little bit to get it out of her, but she eventually said the three words nobody everyone wants to hear. “I have cancer”, she said very emotionally. I just sit there with a blank face, and it just hits me like a brick. I start bawling my eyes out, and screaming “why god, what did she do to get this.” I was in shock that my mother had gotten this disease. I did not know what to think. what I was supposed to do, or how I was going to deal with this news.
