The purpose of the display below is to illustrate the results of my Personal Learning Profile in a column chart. The numbers noted on the x-axis reflect the numerical representation of numbers in the most natural zone of the PLP (this is because all of my scores were ranked in the most natural zone). To read the rankings on the display, start from the number 26 at the bottom of the x-axis (which is the ranking that indicates where the most natural zone begins) and read upwards. The y-axis displays the five listening approaches (which I will summarize shortly) of my PLP according to page 3 of my PLP report, as well as how they each individually rank, the primary rankings are displayed first, followed by the secondary rankings.
Since social media is instantaneously growing, it makes it a lot easier to write reviews online or to rate a particular subject. As an example, there are many websites that let us consumers post reviews and ratings, such as Yelp, Facebook, Angie’s List, Foursquare, and Google Reviews. Similary, the website RateMyProfessor.com allow the students to annonymously rate their professor on different scales and marks. Recently, multiple debates came up about if is it fair to rate professors online. According to RateMyProfessors.com, “RateMyProfessors.com is the largest online destination for professor ratings. Users have added more than 15 million ratings, 1.4 million professors and over 7,000 schools...” These debate leads to multiple arguments ranging
Locke and Latham (2002 p.702) express that in order to succeed when setting goals, “specific” goals with a higher difficulty prove to be the most effective method. In order to effectively model my goal within this criteria, I have chosen a specific educational goal that will be an adequate level of challenge. My goal is to achieve and maintain a 3.3 GPA in the Winter 2016 semester. This goal will allow me to test various learning skills that are beneficial in a University context. It will also help me to better understand my current learning preferences and habits. Ellis, Toft, and Dawson (2012) describe how understanding and applying effective learning methods can be greatly beneficial in any setting.
Disraeli). It is November 1st and I have just found out that I have three assessments
Learning is a process on how we grow and develop. In life, we are constantly learning and we will never stop learning because there are always new skills to learn and techniques for us to adopt. As we take a look around us, we could probably find at least one technological item that we have in our household that may have upgraded or improved in the last few years or decade. So, I can’t really tell when or how I will evaluate that I am growing as a learner because I am constantly learning. However, I can evaluate that I am growing as a learner if I am current or up to date with today’s culture.
I have learnt many concepts that could be implemented and helpful for my career. Some of those include reading articles, preparing for class in advance, understanding the components of IT infrastructure and operations and challenges involved in management and governance. How information systems and business intelligence and analytics supports in management decision making. After a few classes I was enthusiastic to experience the activities that are going to happen in the upcoming class.
All students are familiar with assessments. They have been assessed on various levels all through primary and secondary school, and if they attended school afterward they 've experienced assessments in postsecondary school as well. Why do we do assessments? Assessments are necessary - they not only tell the instructor how well the students are doing but they also tell the instructor how well they are teaching. But there is much more to assessments than that. Assessments can be “an excellent instructional method to provide understanding
This course has taught me more than I could imagine over the past few months. I have reached and surpassed many of the goals I set for myself and reached objectives I never thought possible because of this class. Despite my success and continued improvement over the course of the semester, there is still much room for my writing to grow.
Assessments for learning contributes to future planning for all who are involved in the learning process. All involved in the assessments for learning will learn from the experience.
PPS: After completing the personal profile system worksheet, it was clear I had strong tendencies in the dominance category with secondary tendencies in the influence category leading to a results oriented profile pattern. Taking authority and making quick decisions are two dominance traits which are common with this type of profile, and they are also two traits that I’ve routinely demonstrated throughout my career. Accepting challenges head on is something I’ve always enjoyed and I possess a high level of confidence in my ability to overcome any obstacle. Those feelings are displayed in my rugged individualism, which creates a driving force of character and diligence that I’ve used to influence others in the accomplishment of the mission. This reinforces my need to take charge of the situation, believing that I’m the right person to ensure the job gets done. Additionally, my ability to think on my feet and make critical decisions very quickly often leads to success in my career field of aircraft maintenance, where time is often the number one critical factor impacting mission accomplishment. The influential side of my profile includes traits of articulation and active participation in a group. With each group activity we break into, I never hesitate to actively promote ideas and I’m often the one taking the most active speaking role as the group works through the assignment. A highly developed ability of articulation promotes the environment I desire to verbalize
The instructional setting is a family and consumer sciences sewing lab classroom at Wahlquist Junior High in Farr West, Utah. Equipment in the room includes 35 sewing machines, 8 sergers and 3 embroidery machines. Many other minor pieces of equipment are also located in the classroom such as irons and rotary blades.
A long time ago, or 12 years ago, on November tenth 2002 I was born. In this essay I will be talking about myself and in this paragraph, I will talk about myself such as how I learn and what I am on the 4mat learner profile. First of all, I will be talking about myself and who I am, I love dogs and I am driven to be a veterinarian from Colorado State University. I also want to be an individual who helps the common population. Now I will talk about who I am as a learner. As a learner, I am principled and smart. I follow directions and I love to be on the honor roll. That is who I am on the MYP learner profile. Another aspect is that I am educated and I try the best I can possibly achieve with my learning so I can complete my goals.
My case study student is a 5th grader in Mrs. Helm’s classroom. Her name is Imani. She started school at U.S. Jones approximately a month ago. She moved to Demopolis from the state of Kentucky. In her first few days at U.S. Jones I noticed that she was very reserved. She did not want any attention directed to her. She would do the assigned work but did not want to answer any questions aloud or go to the board. When Imani moved to Demopolis, her previous school did not send any paper work or test scores with her. So the school system had no idea what educational background she had. I have over heard Imani tell her classmates that she is supposed to be in the 6th grade; no one has mentioned this to me so I am unsure of what
There are many interventions put in place to help students succeed in learning and understanding. I looked into one particular strategy that teachers use to help students learn, which is allowing students to retake assessments. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there is a difference in students’ mathematics achievement in a class that is allowed to retake assessments and a class that is not allowed to retake assessments. In order to discover the information that has already been gathered on retake assessments and their impact on student learning, I conducted a literature review. In this review, I will first introduce retake assessments, followed by the history of retakes, and the benefits and drawbacks of retakes. Additionally, I will compare retakes to other remediation alternatives. Finally, I will discuss the gaps in the knowledge of retakes and their effect on student achievement.
will save you a lot of time in the morning especially if you’re running late. The first step is to put
