There I was, walking through the tall wooden door that laid open in front of me. I am about to work what seemed like, the longest seven hours of my life. The bright ceiling lights were shining in my exhausted eyes from a long day of school. As I prepare to punch in my seven-digit number into the register, I could smell the overwhelming scent of pumpkin in the air. Just as I thought, Dairy Queen has now started the bright fall orange seasonal blizzard, The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard. I can just taste the cinnamon in my mouth that is watering over the smell of the pumpkin spice. As the dull gray register spits out my receipt showing that I have clocked in at 3:55 P.M., I look over to the red entrance doors. I can hear an enormous roar, a stampede of customers swarming in like bees that have just been bothered by an enemy. I look at my co-workers and whisper, “Get ready for busy day.”. I stay cool and relaxed and lay my hands on the cold register ready for the busy day that we are about to face. …show more content…
I reach over and grasp the torn, green paper that dangles from the customer's hand. While in mid reach, I tap the change button hearing a subtle ring coming from the register. I am scrambling for change as fast as possible, so I can have the customers move right along so they could go back to their regular day. After taking the customer's order, I slam the drawer shut, and I drop the change in the customer’s desert hand, and finally closing the conversation by telling them to have a nice day with a positive tone. Then off to the next customer in line I go. This constant rush continues for hours on
PATIENCE: When dealing with customers on a daily basis, employees sure to stay patience when customer come to them confused and frustrated, but also employees have the time to carefully listen to customers need. They have a way calming the customers down and decrease the frustration, either on the phone or in person, and they need something. They pretend it’s them on their shoes. They always have to end the problem with solutions by asking. What would customer want to happen? What would make the customer happy? What would make the customer satisfied? Before they hang up the phone or say good bye in person.
Our prime example of such a clerk was the girl behind the counter at the café outside Gate Two, where delectable Double Decker Ice Cream Cones were sold every afternoon. […] ‘Whaddayawant?’ she snarled out of the edges of her mouth to the people ahead of us who naturally wanted Double Decker Ice Cream Cones too. ‘Shut up and wait your turn. I’ll get to you when I’m good and ready!’ (Bowman Reid, 68)
Task: On one occasion, a customer called, demanding to know why his delivery was an hour late and still hadn’t arrived. He had his crew set up and ready to unload the product; with no truck in sight, they were just standing around wasting time and money.
I had butterflies in my stomach as we pulled into the empty grey parking lot of Best Buy. It was as frigid as an ice cream freezer so, we shuffled swiftly into the store. As we approached the doors there were workers welcoming us like gentle giants. The yellow illuminated sign reflected off glasses as we walked through the automatic sliding doors opened.
Have you ever wanted a cup of coffee but you decided to skip it because of the long line wait? According to our demographic research at Orin’s Place, in peak times, people usually wait about 10 minutes before they actually get what they ordered. As a result, people are late to their class and distracting their professor and classmates. To solve this problem, Pebble is a service we bring to customers to easily place orders and make payments directly from an app. Meaning that students can place an order right before their break time, and the order will be ready to pick up without standing in the line. During break rush times, people are discouraged from buying a cup of coffee when they see the long line wait, resulting in coffee shops losing
‘’I was on my way to back to school night I was extremely nervous to meet my teacher and when I got there I heard Andrew then I turned around and…’’ One time when I was in second grade I was on my way to back to school night I went to meet my teacher her name was Ms. Pepler. She was nice at helping me put my stuff in my desk but I thought she would be meaner in the school year so when me and my mom got back in the car I said ‘’I think Ms. pepler is going to be mean this year.’’ My mom said ‘’ she seemed really nice at back to school night’’ then I said maybe you're right.’’ Now it is the first day of school and I was nervous because I thought I had a mean teacher and I didn't have any friends it was just me and my cousin. The first day of
This post was probably my worst semester of college and I have no excuse for how things turned out with my classes. I'm not going to blame my job or my home life as it was me who failed and I have no one else to point the finger at. I had tried to pass the remedial math course five times previously and I started to lose hope that this one course would hold me back from finishing school. This hopelessness carried into my other courses because at the time I truly believed it was pointless to try in other courses if I can't pass this class that's been haunting since I started attending college.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt once stated, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” This quote is a historical quote from World War II; however to me, its significance goes farther than that. This quote is the story of my transition from a child to an adult. I had a phobia of addressing large crowds; the fact that everyone’s attention would be on me was abashing. This was true until I reflected on how my phobia was keeping me back from a lot of opportunities, such as class presentations and future public speaking events. After deep reflection, I made the courageous decision to audition to speak at my eighth grade promotion ceremony. This was quite a leap for an introvert such as myself; however, I persevered my way through the audition and won the role as the MC. The valiant decision to speak at my promotion ceremony has shaped who I am and what I am able to accomplish today.
my studies. It was there that I would max out my library card to read
My pursuit of Kelly began almost a year before we met. I was at one of my best friends Ryan's house and I noticed Kelly's picture was on their wall. Immediately I asked Ryan's girfirend, Rugila aka Roo, every question she would tolerate to answer.
It had been around 42 days. I had no way to know when the sun was rising or setting; I only had my sense of time. They came in every day and gave me a small loaf of bread, some sort of meat, and only enough water to wash down my food. It was not enough to give me strength only enough to keep me alive. I was not sure where I was or even how I got there. The only thing I knew was that I wished I could go back home to my loving family.
“If you aren’t careful, you will lose everything that you hold dear to you. Your wife and children have already started to slip away, your eyes don’t lie.” I release him from my grasp and he stumbles backward, I lunge at him over the counter. “All because you are selfish with your time! Time that should be devoted to your family but is instead spent screaming at some insignificant cashier over a white polyester microfiber t-shirt.” I spit on the t-shirt. “I apologize for wasting your time, which is so much more valuable than mine.”
Life can always push you trough big changes in any instant of your life. I honestly would have never thought that at this very young and short age my life would have changed the way it did, to be completely honest it was truly a blessing. I had been born and raised going to a catholic church with my parents and sister, every Sunday at eight a.m. My family and i would be at church, it was only an hour long and it always went by really fast actually. I know my parents only wanted the best for me and my sister, to be raised by a good family that believed in God, but to be honest as i grew older it started just becoming a habit to be at church every Sunday, of course my parents hoped for me to actually learn something every time
It’s the summer of 1999 and I’m sitting on a beach in Latvia, hunched over my new Nikon f100 fidgeting with my lens. What had been the point of me saving up money for a year for this camera if I wasn’t going to take a single photo that I liked? I was feeling utterly frustrated. Here I was, in one of the most beautiful parts of Europe unable to take a single great photograph. All of a sudden my thoughts were interrupted by a spray of sand in my face. I looked up to see a young girl in a blue denim romper sauntering by haughtily in plastic heels. Well she was trying to saunter. They were the kind of shoes that came in those toy sets with costume jewelry and tiaras. They weren’t meant to be worn out, and definitely not meant to be worn on the
As the malls have increased so has increased the no. of people visiting the particular mall. Today people have to wait in queue for the billing of their purchased products. This
