Personal Narrative: How Toddlers Find Their Developmental Movement

Toddlers find their developmental movement by gradually learning a sequence of vital movement patterns, this is the structure set in place for establishing more multifaceted movements. How is movement created? “Movement rides on the flow of the breath. Subtle inner shape changes in the cavities (mouth, chest, abdomen) and fine gradations that occur in different configurations of limbs subtleties in phrasing” Bartenieff & Lewis (1980: p. 232). In my body voice performance, I have integrated the vowel sounds in order to have optimal resonation within the jaw, the nasal cavity and the oral cavity. Within my performance I was lying on my back, facing the ceiling, I activated a gentle heal rock movement within my heels. The main focus and the initiation would be on the core as well as the hills. Rocking forward and backwards realigning the spine for optimal spinal movement and spinal rotation. THIGH LIFT (hip flexion) The thigh lift is the activation of the Iliopsoas muscle and flexing the hip without using any additional muscles. Within the performance I made use of body warm-ups and laid on my back flat on the floor thrusting my pelvis forward.
