Personal Narrative: Improving Performance

In the beginning of the semester, I felt a little annoyed that I had to plan a personal goal. I was afraid that I was going to fail once again during the journey of losing weight. My personal goal was to lose five pounds by April 1, 2016. I had planned to achieve this goal by eating healthier snacks, exercising, and meal prepping. Trying to achieve this goal was not easy. I had a constant temptation of breaking my diet and I kept trying to buy fast food whenever I saw myself tight with my school and work schedule. However, I was able to achieve my goal because I was meal prepping every night, I kept an alarm on my phone to remind me when I should be exercising, I read articles that provided me with a list of healthy foods, I carried a picture

Growing up with a father in the military, you move around a lot more than you would like to. I was born just east of St. Louis in a city called Shiloh in Illinois. When I was two years old my dad got the assignment to move to Hawaii. We spent seven great years in Hawaii, we had one of the greatest churches I have ever been to name New Hope. New Hope was a lot like Olivet's atmosphere, the people were always friendly and there always something to keep someone busy. I used to dance at church, I did hip-hop and interpretive dance, but you could never tell that from the way I look now.

Overall, my first semester has been going pretty well. The semester is going like a roller coaster up, down, and fast. I have some bad days and some good days. Through this semester, I have many challenges I faced which I honestly did not want to face. Even though I just wanted to dodge or run away from the challenges, I still face them and fought through them. Some challenges I face this semester, hopefully not in the next, are procrastination, time management, and laziness. I have not only gone through challenges; I have also gone through successes. I am proud of turning assignments on time, passing tests and quizzes, completing my SCR points, and being involved in clubs. Being in Biomed has helped me grow as a student in the area of knowledge.

Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.

I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.

1. The 2nd case study made me reflect on my first head coaching job in football. I was hired by a school in south Texas with the help of a friend I coached with in Oklahoma. He had moved back to his hometown and started teaching and coaching at his high school. He contacted me about the opening and two months later I was hired. I hired him to be one of my assistants and even made sure that he was paid well as a thank you. I was very disappointed with the way he coached that year. I had already make arrangements to move him to a non-coaching position for the next season. I realize I never spoke with him about my expectations or made him aware of how I felt during the season. I identity with Dr. Skinner is some regards. I was caught up in the other aspects of teaching, coaching, and AD duties, I neglected to take care of that issue. I understand that it is OK to hire a trusted colleague or friend but the expectations of them should not be any different of anyone else.

Just so you know, this is the Big Apple and I rule this town. New York City is filled with tall buildings, great culture, and historical sites. No other city has so much beauty that it takes your breath away; yet, there is a real danger that lurks on the streets. I should know because I am Detective Michael Morgan a United States Super Spy in charge of capturing dastardly villains who are set on destroying our world. Armed with mind-altering powers, Alex Higgins is on the top of the FBI’s list of the ten most wanted men in America. This thug is one of the greatest danger to our world and must be captured and jailed in the vault of death. There is no place safe for him to hide from the law and rumor has it, he is in my town. You break the law here in New York City, you pay the ultimate price: freedom.

When I work as team, I has communication with other member so, it has several solution that can help to improve my communication to have more professional. The initially topics is meeting management. The beginning of working should planning meeting. Meeting divide into 3 parts are before, during, and after. In the part of before, I should know the purpose and role of meeting. During meeting, if it is face to face meeting, I should know agenda of the meeting and participants their role for easy to communicate about work. After meeting, I should sure that I and other team member understand the information of the meeting because I may discuss with other team member. In addition, after the meeting finish, I should prepare myself for the next meeting.

My vision for Lehigh Athletics is that, as a whole, we are constantly striving to make improvements. For me specifically, this means continually examining my own performance as well as my teammates performance and helping them improve in any way possible. I am working to improve my team culture, and help all of my teammates reach peak performance.

The lessons that we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn from the experience?

It has been years since I have had to write a paper, so writing the reflection paper made me nervous. Since having my reflection paper handed back to me, I noticed some skills that I had improved. On the other hand, I also realized I had more skills I need to work on still such as comma splices, using more transitions and the use of better word choices.

It was the last inning, the count was two balls and two strikes with two outs. Our catcher calls a curveball, I move three steps to my right. Alex is in the stretch, he starts his motion towards home, the runner on first breaks for second base. The pitch is delivered and the ball is hit directly up the middle and over the pitcher’s head, coming from shortstop, I break to my left, I am about to catch the ball when I glance at the runner. He was sliding right into me, I caught the ball, jumped up, and threw the ball while in mid-air. It was a perfect throw, right to the first baseman’s chest. That was it, the game was over, we had just beaten the number one team in the country to advance to the world series! We all threw

It was finally the end of third period and everyone eagerly left class to go to lunch. I wasn't a big fan of lunch because I had no one to sit with witch made me stand out in a crowed making it easy for my tormentors to track me down. "Hey loser" someone snarls from behind me. I turn around to find myself facing Laurie, she's always picked in me for as long as I can remember no after awhile she someone found herself a boyfriend who started doing the same.

Over the last six weeks, I have enjoyed making progress on all of the goals that I have set myself. Most significantly, I have corrected the shape of my fourth finger through changes in my left-hand position and noticed dramatic difference in the ease and quality of playing. I found the changes I had to make difficult, and I committed considerable time to implementing slow and mindful practice. The most effective strategy in approaching this goal was practicing various finger patterns slowly and repetitively, noticing the look and feel of the correct technique. Over time I became more accustomed to the technique, and learnt to reproduce it in lesser time and with more consistency. I can confidently say that my technique is now improved after setting and striving for this goal.

Lessons Learned from FailureIn the summer before my freshman year of high school, a couple of my friends and I wereout late at night inside our neighborhood. I could remember it was a cold night, for Florida atleast, and it was windy as well. We were out later than we were supposed to be, yet we were verytired and did not want to run all the way to the other side of the neighborhood. So, we asked arandom kid who drove by if he could drive us to our friend’s house and he said he could. Whilewe were on the way to the house, the kid began to drive very fast. Before we knew it, we hadcrashed into a wall that surrounded the neighborhood. The accident was a lesson given to me so Iwould be able to prevent myself and others from future failure.The hospital was very quiet and there was not much going on besides them attending toour needs.
