One of my goals was to be able to complete schoolwork on the nights after my work shift. So far I have been successful with that goal, I have been completing at least one assignment after each work shift even if that means staying up later than I need to be. I have not been able to get a week ahead in all of my assignments. As normal, life tends to aid in keeping my schedule unreliable. I have been very happy with my success in their class, there have been a few topic that I could not understand, but with some extra studying on these topic, I seem to have gotten a better understanding of it.
My words of encouragement are that life is going to happen while you are in school. Do not get discouraged just do your very best in that situation, even
Each Sunday night, I go to my teachers’ websites and write down assignments and due dates for the week. This past week, I discovered that I had three vocabulary tests, an Algebra II test, and a college essay along with two chapter outlines for my Economics class. On Sunday I started reviewing for my Economics vocabulary test on Friday as well as study for an English vocabulary test and a Spanish II quiz that is on Wednesday. Tuesday, I studied for vocabulary quizzes as well as completed a chapter outline for Economics. Wednesday night I continued studying for the Economics vocabulary test, completed another chapter outline for Economics, read an article for Spanish and worked on my college essay. Thursday night, I completed my college essay and quickly reviewed for my Economics vocabulary test I had been preparing for each night this week. In order to make A’s and B’s I have to continually look ahead to see what assignments are due and complete many ahead of schedule in order to participate in the rigorous training and game schedule of a varsity hockey
Everyone has their first memory when they have to enter the adult world, mine just happened to be my junior year of high school. This year was just a little glimpse of what was going to be the rest of my life. Getting my first job was bitter sweet. I had to learn how to manage my time between school, sports, and now a job. After my first week of school I had to start my new job.
You can stop worrying about missing work, because if there isn’t any, there isn’t anything to worry about. Sometimes, when teachers tell the class that the grades need to be turned in soon, I can see my classmates start to stress because they have piles of missing work that they haven’t even started. Work and assignments that need to be turned in won’t pile up all at once. In addition, there is less homework. If the work is spread out evenly each day, there will be less homework to do at once, making late school nights less stressful.
After reviewing my life, I have decided my life defining moment was when my family and I moved to Texas from Oklahoma. I consider this move my life changing moment because it changed so many things in my life. This move set the stage for an entirely new life for me. Moving six hours away from the only home I knew certainly called for many changes.
I’d say just keep your head up… There’s a lot of kids and other people here who are going to want to bring you down, but stay focus. A lot of younger kids don’t understand that their grades do matter and school matter and how you learn matters, because in college you’re on your own. There’s not going to be a principal like Mrs. Cox or teachers like Miss Northrip who’s going to help you out, you’re all on your own, so yeah, I say, learn as much as you can, stay focus, build your character and be
On the 27th of January, I had the pleasure of Job Shadowing Billie-Jo Deal at the ODOT (Oregon Department of Transportation) Region Five Office in La Grande. ODOT is responsible for the construction, improvement, maintenance, and safe operation of Oregon’s transportation system. Billie’s official job title is a Region Five Traffic Safety Coordinator and is the only one working as a Coordinator in all of Eastern Oregon. On a normal day, she is typically working on writing grants, coordinating safety and enforcement programs, or giving presentations to schools and workplaces all across Eastern Oregon. I specifically chose Billie for my Job Shadow not only because I already knew her, but I have always been curious about what her job is like. I
For my shadowing day I shadowed Mr. Jay, who works for Big Red Rooster company, however I spent the majority of my time with three of his coworkers. The first part of my day I spent with Mason Miller, a graphic designer, then to Sarah Mape, and environmental designer, and I ended with Brady Schneider, an architect. From talking to the three of them I learned that there is really no typical day at work. Any problem could come up at any moment and one should be ready to tackle the task immediately, however most days are not like that. When work is not time threatening or difficult, day can be more relaxed and chill. The backgrounds from those who work there varied. The designers found themselves in more artistic classes when they were given
Starting over. Those two simple words pretty much sum up where I am at in my life at the moment. I am a 34 year old mother of three. I have never been to college. My husband just recently left me. It has been a whirlwind summer to say the least, but before I get into what brought me back to school, I'll start at the beginning. I was born in FL., and quite literally spent all my time either at the beach or running bare foot on my grandparents farm. I loved every second. Shortly after I turned 8 my mom met my step-dad, and we were quickly headed on our first big adventure, moving to Texas! While I missed my family in FL., I can not tell you enough how happy I was that my mom married my dad. He has been a rock and solid foundation for me my whole
Eighty hours in one week. A goal which all of my peers insisted I was crazy for even attempting. To the normal working class forty hours is a long week, yet I wanted to double that in only seven days. Working in a muffler shop is hard work, which made eighty hours Mount Everest, and I was determined to reach the summit.
I have not reached out to you in a while after you completed my resume. The resume that you did for me was outstanding. The only problem that I am having is that any job that I apply for I am not getting even the option to compete for the job. I am approximately 30 day for starting my transition leave and I do not even have any job potentials. I was thinking about heading in a different direction versus staying in the intelligence industry. I reached out to one of the USO reps because I was having some problems in trying to find a job. If you have any recommendations please let me know. The whole process has been very painful and I am unsure what the future holds.
The reason I choose this job shadow, was some family friends work there and it has always interested me. This is like a teaching job, but they focus on difficult classes that many parents can’t teach at home. HERO is a program that is for homeschooled children. So when I job shadowed it was near the end of their year getting grades put in and reviewing for tests. I think what was the most surprising is how similar to highschool it was. I have always gone to public school so I wasn't sure how different being homeschooled was, but in this program it is very similar. I think that if someday I ever decided to homeschool my children that this would definitely be an option for me, the way that they really get to interact with the children they teach
The last time I did something challenging was probably this summer when my brother in law left for Afghanistan. It was extremely hard for my family.
One of the key factors that leads to success is education. Who could ever imagine that the amount of effort put in school affects grades, test scores, and college admissions? In the process of learning, there are responsibilities that the student must adhere to. The late-work policy should remain a rule because the quality of the assignment will be better due to the students having more time to complete it.
In my eighteen years of life of this planet—soon to be nineteen—I had only Shifted once on purpose. The first time was when I was ten—three years after I had settled into the body I had now—and my oldest brother, Adrian, had just been shipped off to fight in Arden. It was the same war my father had died in only months before hand, so our family had been a tad bit uneasy about his departure.
With the current traditional schedule, most students, including me, stay up late to do homework after they attend all afterschool activities. In addition, students get booked with homework for at most and usually four classes daily. This results in students cramming late at night to finish all their assignments, be able to participate in extracurricular activities, and get enough rest for the next school day. However, considering the work periods that block scheduling offers, students could be able to finish most of their work without any problems. This could result in less stress, more success, and better grades for
