Personal Narrative: Moving To A New Society

What Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci coined "The New World" was now overrun by man-eating zombies. It all started in Chile and Argentina; news of a highly infectious pathogen had begun spreading at breakneck speeds. By the time epidemiologists had discovered the cause of this pathogen it had already spread to the Western half of the United States and was making its way east.

If I was a European thinking about moving to the New World, I would base my decision based off the images and descriptions that were available. One of the images that would deter me from migrating away was a piece of artwork done by Jacques Le Moyne. His picture entails a group of natives who are trying to fight off a fearsome looking alligator. Theodore De Bry describes them plunging a pole into it’s mouth and turning it around so they can stab their stomach. He goes on to say that the natives have to watch out for them day and night because of how frequent they appear. Since I don’t really know how to defend myself against such creatures, I would be afraid to live somewhere where danger is constant. I also would not want to deal with vampire

Recently I took a trip to Nashville, and YES it was so much fun, I learned a lot about my business, met some of my AWESOME business partners, but most of all I got back my Country Roots !

One casual Wednesday afternoon, I was back in 5th period with Mrs. Zombottle just reading away in my wonderful mystery book. She came up to me in a quiet fashion, “Are you busy?”

Today's society has changed so much over time. Growing up as a kid I didn't get to experience some of the activities kids now get to do. Once you think about it the generation we live in today is so advanced it doesn't even compare to how it was ten years ago. In my youth age I spent a lot of time socializing with my family and my siblings. The way I grew up and what I got to experience is what shaped me as a person today.

One day when at the Sabre meeting, I was told there was a diving meet and volunteered to go. I came to the meet on Friday the 15 to the pool late at night when I assumed I would get busy. But I wasn’t. Though there were about 6 schools at the meet, it was only the dive teams from those schools. And since there was only one diving board at our pool, things took a while. Instead of leaving and coming back later when I was needed to take photos of our one FUMA diver, I stayed to watch the sport, as I have never spectated a dive meet before. Growing up as a teenager you go through many obstacles. Some face more difficult ones than others. One of the many obstacles most teenagers go through is finding your comfort zone, and being able to step out of it at times. Many people including me are skeptical about crossing their line of comfort. These past four years I have had a lot of growth, and most of the experiences have had to do with me finding myself outside my comfort zone.

The minister is currently looking for a new place for the church to be located in. He shared, "I found several places near my house, one was 10 minutes away from the current church location by car."The minister has been searching for 2 months diligently for this new home for the body of believers in Denver. Pastor Thomas will be registered soon at OU, but currently he isn't. "Now things are quite busy here. I will pray about that, and when My co-worker returns from Dover for Kbers training, I will have more help at the church." Shared the Pastor.

Flying across the world at the age of 6, a new continent, city, language, and people. That's how my life began. First Time seeing an airplane my thoughts where do they have cartoons, and how will I play on the airplane. So many questions, I wanted to ask but I remained quite. I was scared, worried, happy, sad so many feelings at once. But hey that's how my story will begin. When I moved to the US, I was scared and felt lost But all I wanted to do is build myself from the ground, because I was building my future. But with a great experience I was either going to make me or break me.

It was a bright and sunny day on June 3, 1995. Such a good day that I was in the mood to become something different, something that no one would expect to become, but what I had in mind wasn’t what I was hoping for. It was nice out and Brandon and I had some unfinished business we needed to take care of. We got mad at each other earlier that day, got into a big fight and ended up messing up moms’ big day. On top of that, he blamed the whole thing on me which I can never forgive him for, but I can also never forget what happened to Brandon.

Imagine your best friend, the person you’ve grown up with. The person who knows everything about you, even some things you don’t know about yourself. The one person in the world you would trust your life with, knowing that they would protect it with theirs. Now, although it’s something no one wants to imagine, think about them suddenly being ripped from your life, right as you needed them. This happened to me in the summer of 2013.

We all sat around the table. Silence filled the room, until he finally shifted in his seat and cleared his throat. That was the only interaction in the last five minutes. Tension was building, and all I could do was sit still in my seat waiting for my father to finally break the tension that everyone in the room felt. He looked at every one of us and took in a deep breath, the only time I’ve ever seen my father’s demeanor this way was when he announced that my grandfather had passed away. He opened his mouth and words began to flow out one by one. Experiencing a new culture is usually life changing. I first started going to Tijuana, Mexico three years ago because my dad was deported. The only places I had ever been to were here in California. When going to a new place I never thought there would be a drastic change in the environment, or people. It’s amazing how a border can separate two worlds and make them so different.

This was not all that Paltryce was good for and in fact, it was little at best. It was whom his youthful half-sisters were that made Paltryce an especially, and unsuspected, prominent figure.
