A few days in the marina, savoring the last little bits of our time in Florida, ended abruptly with an early morning trip to the airport in the dark. With spring break coming up and missing grandbabies, not to mention kids, we planned to fly back up north for a visit. We had to wear long pants and carry coats because we knew it’d be cold in Maryland. Ohhh…the horror of it. Thankfully it was not as cold as I was worried it might be upon arrival, but we agreed we’d still rather be in Florida. But after we got to snuggle grandbabies, we were glad to have made this visit. A spring Saturday afternoon, crazy warm and sunny, after a long painful winter leads to LOTS of people in the park. The day was so warm and fun, we both wished we had brought
Today is Valentine's Day and I have nothing to do. Today I went to my brothers basketball game. They won 38-30 against auburn-y. This was a elimination game. I can't believe those ballers pulled it offing fugu. I mean when I was in 6th grade we didn't even make playoffs. Still single as always but I hope that will change. I like Evelyn Kitchen but I don't know if she likes me. I wimped out to ask her to dance with me and another kid in my advisory likes her too. It's pretty obvious. I just don't know if she likes me. I told my mom and dad and they told me to ask her. The worst thing that can happen is she says no and I get embarrassed to death. The next dance there is in March I'm going to ask her. I should probably explain
A few weeks ago I went to Florida with my grandparents, they are the best. I was so excited and the drive to the airport took forever. The plane ride took a really long time, and when we finally got to Florida it was late. When I woke up the next morning I went to the beach and the sand was super-hot on my feet, but once I went in the water I cooled off. The sun was always shining and it was really hot. I forgot to put sunscreen on one day and I turned bright red. There were a lot of palm trees in my surroundings. The condo that we stayed was a very popular place because a lot of people stayed there. There was so much stuff to do and see that we couldn’t do everything that we wanted to. We went and packed oranges from the trees, ive never seen
From childhood to now, going to Florida has played an important part in my relationships, culture, and personality. I think that the trips to Florida started when my little brother was born. Having to take care of two toddlers and an infant and work full time was hard on my parents so, my aunt offered to take me and my sister home with her for a while. Being in Florida was slightly unnerving because my sister and I were alone. We sneaked into each other's beds, comforted one another, and told lame jokes to get rid of homesickness. Eventually, when my little brother was old enough and he joined in on the fun. The three of us had the best times in Florida. We ate foods like Haitian pate, diri ak djon djon, pikliz, fried plantains and other Haitian
After he hugged us, he took us outside the airport to the car. It was really cold. The airport was about half an hour away from what was going to be our new home in the Bronx. I looked at the city through the window and did not like what I saw. The city. It looked brown and ugly, and the trees had no leaves yet. That April was especially cold for me.
It was a bright hot summer day in Florida, and my family had just arrived for our week long vacation, but we were in for the biggest shock of our unified life. We had never thought that this dreadful thing could happen at such a beautiful place.
I first encountered the ocean in 1958; I was ten. Being a map enthusiast, I knew exactly where Florida was, and I was excited to swim in the salty Atlantic Ocean. Born and raised next to frigid Lake Michigan I understood a large body of water as well as a sandy beach, but no book or encyclopedia prepared me for understanding the flavor or immensity of an ocean and its adjoining shore. Arriving at the beach I raced across the hot pure white sand to keep my feet from burning, stopping in wonder when I saw ocean waves gently caressing a seashore that seemed to go on and on forever. I knew I was somewhere special.
I awoke on a cool summer morning, at first I wasn't completely there but then, a chill of excitement ran down my spine as I realized my family was going camping today. I ran down stairs past the mountains of camping supplies and clothes to talk to my parents in the kitchen. They said we were leaving soon and that I should start packing all of the supplies into our trusty old Ford Expedition. After about 20 minutes of packing our SUV to the brim with all of the things we would need to survive in the wilderness for a few days, we said goodbye to our three cats and headed for Steelville Missouri.
On our first day in Florida, we went to the pool. We had a blast at the pool. We were there for about 14 hours. All of us kids played on a zip line that
I couldn't believe we were actually leaving Florida. My heart sank when I got into the car. "Why do we have to leave?" I asked my mom as I started to cry. My brother had helped us pack, and he walked up to the car and gave me a hug and said goodbye. Saying goodbye back was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Earlier today a few of my friends dropped by to say goodbye. I love my friends in Florida i didn't want t leave them at all! But, The hardest part of today was leaving all of my family. I don't now what I'm going to do without knowing that they were not going to be a few minutes away anymore. They would be 16 hours away!
So my first two weeks at Florida Southern have been exhausting to say the least. One does not really know how flipped their sleep schedule is until they have to wake up early to drive to 8 am classes every other day. The bright side to these days, however, is that I end up making it home by about 11:00 am, where, beforehand, I might have even woken up at this time. I honestly don’t know what I expected from college, but I knew that the college that I planned on attending had a very beautiful campus. Living in the area, you always hear people talking about how world class architecture is located within the city. Florida Southern, along with Publix, and the location between Orlando and Tampa were the reasons everybody talked about
We all woke up around eight o’clock, then we got up and had some breakfast and we were getting ready to leave. We made sure we had all of our clothing before we left. We did, and then we left. It was a gloomy day there in Florida.Instead of us arriving there,we were leaving
I was so excited to be going back to Florida at Christmas it is beautiful there at that time of year, and this time my aunt and her family were coming with us. It had been so long since we had been to Florida. We used to go nearly every year but now that moneys gotten a bit tighter we don’t go as often as we used to. During the times we’ve been in Florida there has been a few major attacks on different places around the world. The first time I had ever went to Florida was just a few months after I was born and while we were there two planes crashed into the twins towers and killed thousands of people in New York. I had also just flown out to Florida a few days before the Glasgow airport attack but when we went this time we didn’t expect that
I traveled to Destin, Florida this summer. We went to the arcade were my dad played this game and said it was interfering with his controls so he couldn't win. Later, I played the same game and won a pair of beats!
It was five in the morning, and the day was opening up for a good time in Oxford, that would also bring a trip to Florida, the birds were tweeting, the sky was blue, and the animals were all awake and ready for the day! I get dressed and ready, and go downstairs for breakfast. When I reach the kitchen, I look in the cupboards for something to eat. Then when i found what I wanted, i ate it. I was extremely happy and I felt that everything was going perfectly.
That Sunday morning turned out to be one of the hottest days of the summer. I so enjoyed the time spent with my cousins and granddad, that the heat was the furthest thing from my mind. It had been way too long between visits and I tried to savor every last moment. With school starting in just a few weeks, I knew it would be quite some time before we could get together again. We stretched the day as long as we could, but eventually it was time for us to say our goodbyes.
