My job at Mercy Health Saint Mary Campus was ironic. Most of the experiences that I acquired were different from what I have learned from FSU. At the college, I learned the basic computer hardware, software, and operating system. I took a class on how to repair computer by taking it apart and troubleshooting it with software. The other classes were networking, security, and windows server. I was surprised that desktop support technician at Mercy Health has a different process of how to do their jobs. I don't have all the permission to do everything myself. Most of the jobs were assigned to a specific team. The WAN team who is responsible for the network equipment such as the routers and switches. The LAN team job is to configure the servers.
The people that have the most positive impact on me have been my Resident Assistants (RA) in Notre Dame. The first day I arrived I was stressed, confused, and very nervous. The RA on my floor, Navjot Kaur, went out of her way to comfort me and go over my schedule. Throughout that semester and the following, she was always there to give me tips and help me through it. She was not alone, Veronica Hayden and Gavin O’Brien were also there to help be navigate the difficult road. There actions inspired to me apply to be an RA, where I was hired. These RAs have given me invaluable tips, helps navigating campus, and most importantly a helping hand. Knowing that I hand someone that was willing to help was an asset in itself. These past semesters, I
As I sat on the couch getting ready for the first day back at school, I heard the phone in the kitchen ring. I stood up to go answer it and I heard loud footsteps coming down the stairs. My mother was running down the stairs to answer it just in case it was one of her work calls. I noticed that her voice started to crack as if she was going to cry and the smile that she once had on her face had disappeared. The person on the other end of the phone was my Uncle Dylan from California calling to let us know that Aunt Liz had died in a car wreck. We were so devastated but little did we know she left me $12k. A couple days later I received a letter in the mail saying that I had to use it to help pay for my tuition. I am looking to attend the nursing program at Lindenwood, Missouri State, or St. Louis University.
Finishing high school and going to college can be quite overwhelming, yet incredible at the same time. However, taking classes at LaGuardia Community College meant that I was no longer in high school, and I need it to do things on my own to strive for success. In my first year seminar class, I had to adapt to a new environment where the majority of the work was submitted online at a specific time, and I also had to get used to using the websites needed for the class. Furthermore, I witness how students are when finals are just around the corner, many students in my class were rushing to get things done before the deadline. Overall, becoming a college student meant growing up and being independent where I no longer needed to ask for others to help me succeed.
Growing up my father taught me many life lessons; one that I will never forget was when he told me: “A man living in a house without light will never know where he is going or what he wants to do.” At the time I did not understand what that meant until one day he explained in to me. Without proper goals a person is just lost in darkness and unable to find their way in life. By working towards my goals, I feel that I am constantly growing as an individual and learning how to approach all sorts of situations that life throws at me. Recently, being a part of the EOF Nursing School Program at Rutgers University, I feel that I have just set the foundation to achieving my goals which include graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing alongside one day opening a home for the less fortunate in Guyana.
I am writing to express my desire to begin my nursing career with Hacienda HealthCare. The registerer nurse position at Los Ninos Hospital that you advertised in career link is of particular interest to me, but I would be pleased to discuss any full- or part-time employment opportunity for which you feel I may be qualified.
There are many different events as well as experiences within my life that will give me a positive influence on my academic work with Colorado Christian University. The one that stands out is not really a single event, but many different events that happened in a very short amount of time. About four or five years ago I was a single boy living at my parent’s house, working at a grocery store and sleeping till noon on my days off. I was pretty content with my life to be honest. I did not have much of a plan or any direction for my future and I was not worried about not having a clue as to what it was I wanted to do with my life. I was dating my wife at the time and we had been pretty serious for a while. I finally proposed to her and we got
Saint Vincent College is a college that was on my radar during the application process and was also the first one that I applies to. I knew that Saint Vincent College was going to be my home away from home the moment i stepped foot on campus during my first college tour. One advantage for me is the campus size. Coming from Windber and it’s school district, I am used to a very small school and class size all in a rural area. The big city schools with thousands upon thousands of students never appealed to me; what I wanted was a small, affordable school. Going through the application process and seeing the overall price tag was an intimidating thing for me, but getting in contact with the financial aid department was extremely beneficial. Talking
My job duties for CMA I welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone if needed.
In all of my previous experiences in the healthcare field, I have not had a single moment or challenge that I disliked about the profession. Even working as a scribe, I absolutely loved the change of pace in working a late night shift at one hospital and then getting up several hours later to work another shift at a different hospital’s ED. With this in mind, the question of naming one single aspect of being a physician I think I would like best is a difficult one to answer. As so many other premedical students, medical students, and current physicians, I love the satisfaction of solving a problem to help someone. This is truly what I expect to like most as a physician, particularly when working with a patient who suffers from several chronic
For my summer 2015, I lived in Calvin College's dormitories as a housing assistant. This job included waking up early to check in summer conference guests, to issue keys, and to direct the guests to their respective rooms. In addition to that, my responsibilities included answering inquiries pertaining to hall services, and generally serving as a resource to residents and conference guests.
Since I was little I always knew going to college was the plan for me, but in all honesty I never thought of attending University of Saint Francis until about a year or 2 ago. When I did hear about Saint Francis from a student that attends there I knew that it was everything I wanted in a college. It is close enough to home and it has amazing programs for my career choice.
Since the day I first talked with Josh D’Amico, I felt glad that finally, I have found the place where I always wanted to be. I had always dreamed for a small school with an outstanding faculty and tons of opportunity to explore and learn, and finally I am happy that my dream is going to be true. I find Mount Mercy as a perfect fit for me.
I would like to work as a healthcare manager in (my husband’s) medical office. Some of my primary responsibilities would include developing and implementing office policies and procedures, maintaining medical records, submitting claims to insurance companies, managing the administration part of the office as well as supervising the staff professionals such as registered nurses, medical assistants, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and front desk personnel. My job duty would also include training new employees and assessing their performances.
In this course there was three areas that I believe will be most helpful for me in my career as a healthcare administrator. The content about the United States government I feel will be very helpful in my career path. In my current job I help people sign up for Medicaid. This is a government program that has been in the forefront of the news recently. Many of my clients have questions that go beyond the scope of Medicaid and deal with do does the government make the choices they make. I find myself paying more and more attention the news to find out what is happening with the health care bill and what can I do as private citizen to fight and protect my rights. Helping people with their Medicaid has also forced me to learn all I can about how
Growing up I never thought I would pursue a career in healthcare. I always imagined myself as an engineer, someone capable of fixing the world's most difficult problems. As I've gotten older, I opened myself up to an entire new realm of possibilities when I considered more than just one profession. My mom is a physical therapist and I went to work with her often over the years. She is one of those therapists who brings in sunshine and the sound of chirping birds when she enters a room; patients light up when they see her and pass her name around the senior home as if it is a trade secret. I’ve never been one much for sunshine and rainbows, but I do bring a certain energy to the room as people have told me. I am an odd bundle of happiness mixed
