They took me to the X-Ray room and did some tests on my arm and then put me back in the other room. The doctor came back with the results at least 15 minutes later and said I need surgery. I had to have the surgery the next day because there wasn’t enough doctors available on Sunday. The nurse put me in a wet and cold plastic cast with a sling in case I moved my arm and caused more damage. After a while they took me upstairs to another room to spend the night in. The first room I went in there was a kid snoring loud my dad took a peek and asked the nurse if we could move to another room. The second room I went in was quiet and nobody else was in the room. I went to the bathroom real quick after that long grueling waiting period. After that
When we got there my parents were in the lobby my mom crying in my dad's lap. We hurried to the x-ray room. When we got there they put me to sleep for I would not struggle. When I woke up I had my parents in the room and a cast on my leg. My mom came up to me and said, “Your leg, it’s broken”
I had been cringing about day for so long. I was completely terrified to go into that room. As the door opened I was exposed to a cold draft and I could feel the dense air. The day I was told this needed to be done was horrifying, and now it’s actually happening. They rolled me over to a new bed and I looked around seeing doctors everywhere. There was a table that they rolled next to me and on it was things that I can’t even explain. They put a green mask on me with tubes going through both sides of it. They told me I’d get drowsy and all of the sudden I closed my eyes and it was happening. I was getting knee surgery.
Being a typical 9 year old, I bawled my eyes out. When I moved my arm, it hurt even more. My mom came over to see what all the commotion was all about and I told her what had gone on. I also told her that whenever I moved my arm, it hurt and it felt very weird. She told me we would have to head to the hospital in Columbus to go get an X-Ray to see if it was broken. Thankfully, this was after my older brother’s band’s performance. He came over to us, and my mom told what was about to happen and what we were about to do. He wasn’t happy, to say the least. After about 5 minutes of arguing, my brother lost and my mom took the rest of us to Columbus. As we got into the car, she told me to keep my arm as still as I could, to which I did. We didn’t go to the hospital right away, however, we went to McDonald’s instead to try and make me feel better with some ice cream. It worked, and made me feel glad, even until I got into the hospital. I had never had a broken bone before up until that point in my life, so I didn’t know what to expect. We sat in the waiting room for about 5-10 minutes, until the nurse came into the room to tell us that the doctor was waiting. We got into
Now it was around midnight and I was settled into my ICU room. Everyone left beside my mom and dad. All I wanted to do was go to bed. Doctor after doctor would come and go checking all my vitals and putting medicine into my IV. When I did get to sleep it was only for an hour. The nurses would come in every hour to make sure I was okay. They woke me up at 6:00am to get another cat scan. The machine was in the basement that looked like it was a place in the movies where all the
After wait for a few minutes they called my name and we walked me down the hall and to the X-Ray room. They made me take off my boot and stand on this weird X-Ray and I had to set my foot on this weird square. I was really scared because I didn't want it to be broke again or worse. They took me back into the waiting room when the doctor came in and had the X-Rays. He said the my foot
Before realizing what was happening, a nurse was trying to put an IV in my arm. The needle compared to my little arm looked huge and too long to go in my arm. I refused to let them touch me and tried to run to my mom. When they had a hard time succeeding at putting my IV in, they decided to get help from my mom. She calmly told me to lay down and to watch her, while they put the needle in. It was hard to ignore the pain pulsing through my arm and all the commotion happening all around me. I looked at my mom and saw the tears that were falling down her face as they held me down. When they were done, there was an IV and a cast on my arm, so that I would not be able to pull the IV out. Then they wheeled me into another room where my mom held and comforted me, while we waited to hear the results.
Next, they put me in a different room upstairs to take some x-rays, they figured out that I had 2 fractures (so practically broken!) They put an enormous cast on my arm that went all the way down to my elbow and I had to wear that for 2 weeks or something like that. After a while of having it on, my arm got numb and I couldn’t feel my hand! When we got traveled back after the 2 weeks they gave me another cast. The difference was that it was smaller and only went down to my wrist also my 2 fingers (pinky and ring) were at a 90 degree angle. They told me “Wear that one for another
I wake up and I am not entirely sure where I am at. I am laying in a bed and rolling around as someone is pushing me. The door infront of me opens manually and I am pushed through the door still not knowing what is going on. I have a sling on my arm, but I cannot feel it at all. My right arm is numb from the shoulder down, but as I am rolled into my room I see my mother, father, and grandma sitting and waiting on me. I remember now; I just came out of shoulder surgery that could possibly make or break my baseball career. The doctor comes in and explained what happened in the operating room, and explains that everything went very well. He had no complications and that after I get food in my system that I could leave. Everything was happening
When we got there and a nurse saw dad carrying me in, she immediately got up and grabbed a wheelchair. Dad sat me down and they rolled me into this room and started asking me questions and getting my blood pressure. After that we went into another room with a hospital bed and the nurse said that the doctor will be in shortly. Biggest lie on the face of the planet! We waited for about an hour and a half. What made the wait not so boring was that we watched animal planet while we were waiting. They were having a program about dogs that do weird things. It was hilarious!
It was a small wood building kind of like a barn. And we walked in and my mother asked for Mr. Fredrickson and the nurse said “Right this way.” We followed her to the room door I was shaking and nervous my mom was too. I put my hand on the cold steel door knob; I turned it and slowly and opened it gently. There was my dad lying on the bed, we looked at each other and I yelled “Papa!” I was so glad to see him just like he was glad to see us. After my mother, father, and I caught up on things and talked for a while the doctor slowly opened the door and said “You are able to leave, all you need is this.” She said after pulling a wheelchair from behind herself. We all gave each other hugs. I was so happy that my father could come
I had such a great day at clinical yesterday. I was finally able to see a vaginal delivery and that entire process. When I arrived in the morning, the mom had just received Cytotec, to help induce labor and ripen her cervix. She was forty-one weeks and zero. Around ten thirty in the morning, she asked for her epidural to manage her pain. We bolused her with fifteen hundred milliliters of lactated ringers to prevent hypotension. Shane was the certified registered nurse anesthesiologist (CRNA) who administered the epidural. It was very cool watching him administer all the needed pain relief medication before he administered the epidural to make sure that it would be placed in the epidural space in the spine. Then administered a small test dose, waited till a few blood pressures were taken, then administered the remaining about through an epidural pump. After the epidural was administered, I was able to administer her foley catheter. I was so happy that I was finally able to place one. I learned a few tricks from Maura (my nurse) as well. She taught me that it was easier to take the top off of the lubricant syringe and to place the tip of the foley inside of the syringe, that way it will not wiggle around and become unsterile. She also taught me to grab from the bottom of the labia and pull up, that way it ensures that I will have a clear entrance to
My first week went really well! I was definately both nervous and excited on the first day. I was nervous because I wasn't sure how the clinic would run and I quickly learned that it is a very fast paced clinic. My CI sees patients every 15 minutes and he is both the only PT there and the owner of the clinic. I have been learning a lot about PT treatments as well as the buisness side of the PT clinic. He has a lot of PT aides that help with exercises and setting patients up with ice and stim ect. The fast paced clinic was definately something I had to get used to. I was a little overwhelmed when we would just start with a patient and a new patient would walk in the door. However, there is a very good flow in the clinic and everyone is always
The lady said that I broke both of my wrists and we had to go to the St.Cloud emergency room. I had to get splints that went to my elbow to my tips of my fingers. That night I couldn't eat my favorite soup that my dad makes. The soup was homemade pheasant soup with homemade noodles and vegetables. That night I only got about an hour of sleep. I had to sleep straight on my back with my arms above my chest. This was one of the worst days of my life and the pain was unbearable.
I went into the hospital room with my mother, got undressed, and changed into a hospital gown. A woman came into the room to put an IV into my arm, then I turned on the Food Network on the hospital TV. A few doctors came into the room, asking for my name, birthdate, and other questions for identification purposes. Later, my two aunts came into the room. A few minutes later, my surgeon walked in as well to tell me that she’d come back in about twenty minutes to wheel me away to the operating table. This made it even more surreal and made me even more anxious.
Honestly , it was my first time going to the Accident and Emergency department i was scared and worried about what will happen to my wrist and how will my parents react .While my teacher was doing all the registration i sat there in state of shock . It was really a blessing having my best friend by my side comforting me and constantly telling me everything will be alright . I was then called to do some X-RAYS before consulting the doctor . My parents finally came and just right it was my turn to consult the doctor , my mother then went in together with me . The doctor was then examining my X-RAYS that i took before consulting him . My heart was beating very very fast as I am a right hander and i need my right hand to do many things . Finally the doctor spoke , he said that there was no obvious or major fractures shown in my X-RAYS but i have to put an temporary cast on my hand. He then referred me to a specialist at KK Children Bone Specialist to ensure there was no hairline fracture or any small minor fractures .
