What’s Your Calling? Your Professional Calling I’m not talking about your spiritual calling, your calling to your God, but rather your calling to a profession, a career. Not merely a job. Something that you have such a passion for that you could almost do it without getting a paycheck – if only you didn’t have bills to pay. Or even small mouths to feed. We have all experienced something along the lines that caused us to think, “Gee, I think that sounds interesting. I would like to know more about that!” And medical coding may have been one of those curiosities. Maybe you lost someone in your family, or someone you were close to became ill and you wished there was something you could do to help them. Or maybe you watched a medical show on
During my field experience, I have had the opportunity to be part of the CSI club, been on duty for lunch and helped out in SSR buddy! All of these different opportunities have given me moments of joy, uncomfortableness, and a sense of purpose!
When it comes to my passion most don’t understand it the way I do. For the past three years my passion has been lacrosse. Since I was a freshman at Sandalwood High School my interests for the sport have grown and my devotion and commitment have reached new limits. Most people don’t understand lacrosse, they just know that it is a sport “with sticks and stuff”, and while I don’t take offense to ignorance; sharing my passion with others is never a burden. Lacrosse is one of the biggest parts of my life as of now and I believe it will continue to be for many years to come, but there’s more to the sport than most people know. Lacrosse has a history behind it older than any other sport in America, as well as the fact that as of now,
Ugh! A sink full of dirty dishes. Hours of bending, scrubbing pots, and hearing the chef yell “We need more cups, we need more plates!” Leftover food running down the plates, as I pre-wash with warm water. Food sticking onto my hands and the feeling of hot heat circling the air is unspeakable. Working as a dishwasher in a restaurant was my worst job on the account of my working condition, working for inconsistent number of hours, and the pay only being minimum wage.
You seemed as if you left out of your 4th block Spanish from those rusty gray doors on the side of our school building.
Throughout high school, I continuously explored a wide variety of courses in an attempt to figure out what career path I may want to pursue. As senior year drew closer, the business field became more enticing. Furthermore, my aspirations were significantly impacted on the evening of September 14, 2016. I woke up that day and left for school as if it were any other day. After school, I drove to the softball field because we had a game and it just so happened to be Senior Night: the last home game. When it came time for my first at bat, I stepped up to the plate and hit a line drive between the first and second basemen, successfully making it to first base. The next player up to bat hit a double; I rounded second and sprinted for third. I clearly remember my coach kneeling on the ground to signal me to slide into third base. For some unknown reason, I hesitated and slid too late. I knew it was a bad slide, but I was focusing on whether or not I was safe. Then reality set in, I was safe, but I was not physically capable of standing up.
I was starting a new job in one of the best and biggest law firms in the state. I was so proud of myself. I put on my favorite black skirt and a new blouse I brought just to show off my tits. I mean if any more cleavage showed you would see my nipples. I put on a pair of stockings; it was way too hot for pantyhose. Then I pulled my hair up into a ponytail, put on my 3-inch spiked heels and a sweater. I buttoned my sweater to the top as I got out of my car and entered the building.
I worked by myself for the most part, and was given tasks by either Tom Kelly or Eric Dykeman. I was given access to everything that Tom would tell me to do, and that includes seeing billing info, and on the bills I would you tell the company how much they owe the Chamber in dues, I also was to see why they left and complaints that they had. With Eric I would be given tasks like making schedules, finding people to contact for meeting, and to organize how the meeting was going to plan out. Almost every day was different, and there was always something to get done or to visit. I traveled with Eric a lot to the town of Braintree where there would be meeting, and I also traveled to see where they are trying to build more infrastructure. I would
As a sale professional my professionalism speaks volumes with seven years experience in some of the high scale retail environmental setting. From there I fell in love with with every part of retail the customer service, helping customers find there own style, always knowing the newest trends, and meeting new people. I have a personality that could only add to your company dynamics. When I’m working on something creative, I keep my PC or my phone next to my bed. I seem to have the best ideas when I’m so tired I can’t keep my eyes open. I’ll get up and make notes. I commute a lot and driving seems to promote ideas as well.
I designed the primary application interface and implemented it to the customer’s specifications within the first few weeks. This created a solid foundation from which the applications was fleshed out and completed.
What’s your goal? This was one of the questions a friend asked when I told him I was going to begin seminary in the fall. “To be a pastor” isn’t an answer this guy would let me get away with, I needed to really think about my answer. The Christian missionary Andrew van der Bijl once said, “God does not choose people because of their ability, but because of their availability.” and in My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers wrote, “Whether I hear God’s call or not depends on the condition of my ears, and exactly what I hear depends upon my spiritual attitude.” These quotes point to the fact that God has a designed plan for me and I must be prepared for whenever and qualified for whatever when He calls. This truth provides the basis for
One of my proudest achievements was when I received acceptance into the Center for Excellence in Youth Education for the hospital placement internship. At first, when I was filling out the application, I was afraid because the application asked questions about my average, my PSAT scores, my volunteer experience, and a personalized essay. I knew that I was outstanding in academically, volunteering, and my essay was great because I talked about my interests and my hopes for the future. Although I qualified for a majority of these supplements, I did not do as good as I would have like to on my PSAT; I thought that this factor exempted me as a candidate until I received an email telling me to come in for a 10 minute interview. On the day of my interview, I was the
My passion for helping others has flourished over the years and has affected my community and I in a positive way. Contributing in my community has gave me the opportunity to know individuals in my community. Throughout high school, I have been involved in helping people obtain their basic necessities such as food and clothing. I helped in the Salvation Army by feeding homeless people and being part of food drives. As a low-income individual, I have been helped by my community and I want to give back to my community by helping others. The first time I volunteered to feed homeless individuals, I learned that they are caring people and not heartless individuals like they are portrayed by the media. Homeless individuals are sometimes forgotten
My Lifetime goal are to become a well-rounded engineer and to hopefully create something new that will benefit society while keeping the environment close in mind. I plan to use everything I have used and learned throughout school. I have learned that being persistent is important, because not everything is easy to figure out on a first take. Creating new will contain a great deal of trial and error and persistence will be key to accomplish my goal. A great deal of planning is going to be required to fabricate something completely new, and school will help me be able to plan more efficiently as I plan my schedule in order to have time to study, work on assignments. My classes in school have also help me tackle challenges in different
I have learned that I have a passion for serving others. While at BYU I will use this passion to make my experience there the very best that I can in many different ways. Firstly I would use my passion for service to help and engage myself in school sponsored projects as much as possible. My participation in events will allow me to meet good people who share common interests. It will also help me to be happier in my life. Also, my passion for service will benefit those that I come to associate with and most of all those I serve. The unique happiness that I get from helping others will bless my life and help me to excel academically. Third of all I want to serve my fellow classmates and teachers as much as I am able too. I know this help will
