Personal Narrative Why Cursive Should Be Taught Today

Through the years, many people have stated that cursive should not be taught in schools. Reading historical documents, personalization, and brain function involves cursive. Cursive writing definitely has a place in our digital society.

There are quite a few reasons why cursive should be taught. When children grow up to be adults they will need to be able to sign their signature or read a formal invitation. Without lifting a pen from paper additional words can be written per minute. Cursive is a different form of handwriting that is fun to use. Those are some reasons why cursive should be taught. Some people say cursive should not be taught.

Did you know cursive takes away core subjects like Math and Reading? Well, it does and that’s bad because that means you could make you less smart. In my opinion, cursive writing should not be taught today. First, it takes too much time. Second, it’s frustrating for parents. Lastly, you can gain a life skill because cursive might be easy for you when you grow up.

Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you didn't have cursive, at ALL? Cursive should still be taught in school. Cursive can help you with your reading and writing skills. In fact, it can also help you read cursive. Mainly, if you can't write in cursive, you can't fill out documents and bills when you get older. Technology has completely taken over when it comes to writing and it’s not fair to strip this curriculum out of schools and it’s especially not fair for the parents of young children to have to teach their children at home how to write in the cursive script I think it should at least be offered as an extra curriculum class such as music, band, and sports. In the 20th century, teaching cursive writing was way more important than it is now less and less kids can’t read letters from their grandparents or other family members but everyone is on their phones and computers to wright these days people video chat all the time and that’s why in my opinion we don’t need cursive.

About 75% of second and third grade teachers teach their class cursive. Kids should learn cursive because they can be prepared for seeing more cursive when they grow older. But a lot of kids don’t learn cursive and they don’t understand it when they see cursive. They might just see weird scribbles. Kids should learn cursive in school they might need it one day. Should cursive writing be taught to students in public schools? Personally, I believe cursive writing is a bit outdated in a sense. But I do not see it as a roadblock to any stepping stones if students were taught cursive writing. There are several facts and statements that add to the support of my opinion.

Some take the side that we need to continue to teach cursive. These people have even come up with some quite compelling augments. Including the claim that cursive helps simulate and develop the brain. Plus, the fact that without it students will not be able to read historical documents. If they can't do this then some of wonderful past will get lost. Some even go as far as saying that the students that wrote their S.A.T. essays in cursive received a higher score on them than those who wrote them in print. Now at first glance, these arguments might seem pretty great, right?

What would it look like if cursive didn't even exist? Cursive writing should still be taught in school. Teaching cursive is needed for many things, mostly for enhancing your brain. Although people have computers and things that don't always need the use of paper and pen, cursive is still a very needed skill. In the following paragraphs, I will tell you why.

Some of the schools in the US only teach their students how to sign their names.
