Self-examination required that I see the world and myself. Understanding what I tell myself matters more than I thought. I must understand my past (introspective), my future (prospective), and my presence (contemporaneous). This helps me to understand what is new, what is next, and what is better for my life. 3. I took something away from the different sources of power. Power is the capacity of potential to influence. Power can corrupt good leaders. Power, by its nature, it is powerful and tasteless like carbon monoxide. The more powerful one becomes, the more likely we are to overestimate our own mental virtue. There is position, power and personal power. Power can be more deadly than drugs. Many leaders allow power to go to their heads. They forget what and who was important to them. They allow power to consume them. 4. The bowl of stew discusses our appetite for more and how God created our appetites, but sin distorted them. Our appetites are never fully and finally satisfied. They whisper now rather than later. As a person, I have recognized my appetites and/or shadows. I have to be constantly aware not to let them rise up and take precedence in my life. It is important to reframe and refrain so that we don not trade our future for our bowl of stew. This really resonated with me both spiritually and in a professional manner. I will be 40 in November and I want so badly to become my best self. I am tired of failed relationships, settling for less than my best, and not living up to my own expectations. I have been working on becoming healthier by changing my diet and exercise. I am growing spiritually and I know I cannot turn back to anything in the past. I am continuing my education so that I can continuously learn to better myself. I have immensely enjoyed this course and I feel like it has gone by too fast. It was a lot of valuable information. I cherish the input and insights from my professor as well as my classmates. I recommend this course to everyone I know. There is a lot of useful information that anyone can take away and position themselves for success. I thank God for this experience and I do not take it lightly. I know I am at the right place at the right time in my life. Dr. Christman you have been helpful in teaching and giving me meaningful feedback during the course.
