Lebron had a tough childhood growing up with very little. His mother battled many personal problems while raising Lebron. Some of these problems were brought from her mothers death. His mother could never keep a job so they bounced from apartment to apartment. Despite his mothers struggles she worked hard to shield Lebron from poverty, violence and the streets. This was very tough for his mother so sometime it made it puzzling for her to find a boyfriend. When Lebron was two she started dating Eddie Jackson who was in and out of trouble. Lebron liked having a father figure around but Jackson was sent to jail for drug trafficking and mortgage fraud. Lebron's brothers Terry and Curt had to step up and fill in and help out. Jordan and James have accomplished many things as an individual and they both took their teams to the next level. They both won the NBA rookie of the year and the NBA all-rookie first team. While James was in high school he excelled in two sports, football and his more known sport, basketball. LeBron excelled greatly in football, he was named All-State wide receiver in his sophmore year (Smithwick 10). His mom was worried about James and wanted him to quit football, so he wouldn’t get hurt. Later he broke his finger in a football game and his mother made him quit. When he was in high school, James made the rounds of the postseason all-star games, and he earned most valuable player of the year award at the McDonald’s High School All-American Game (Newsmakers B2). LeBron wanted to skip his senior year to enter into the NBA draft, but was against NBA rules, so he returned to high school now the most famous high school player. Even before James entered the NBA draft he had already signed a $90 million contract with the brand Nike (Contemporary C4). LeBron James entered the NBA draft in the summer of 2003, and was selected by the "struggling to make it in the NBA" Cleveland Cavaliers (Smithwick 14). The three year contract that James signed with the Cavaliers amounted to nothing beside the more than $100 million in endorsement contracts he has signed with Nike, Sprite, Powerade, Upper Deck Cards, and Bubblicious bubble gum. If it was anybody's guess, they would have said that James was going to play poorly in his first year, but he proved them wrong, everybody wrong. He was named rookie

Lebron James, the first pick taken in this year’s draft, may be the prototype for an athlete having immediate fame and wealth by jumping straight to the NBA. Almost undoubtedly, he has set the bar for years to come. Before he even played in an actual NBA game, he already had his own commercial and shoe deals. When he was a senior in high school, ESPN and ESPN2 were already publicizing his regular season games whenever they had the chance. Amazingly, as a junior in high school, he was already being considered the next Michael Jordan (Broussard).

The move guided him away from the perilous area he had lived with his mother. When Wade's father moved to Robbins, Illinois, Wade's new atmosphere allowed him to play basketball with his stepbrothers, new friends, and father. At Harold L. Richards High
One main argument to allow high school athletes to be eligible to go to the NBA is some families might have financial struggles, they could have a chance instead of attending college to get paid right away. One article says “Lebron had a tough childhood growing up with very little. His mother battled many personal problems while raising Lebron.” By being able to sign a contract he was able to get the family back together and provide a home in a safe environment for his family. Other NBA players such as Serge Ibaka and Kevin Durant had similar problems and were able to help their families as Lebron was able to.

Lebron James is the MVP (Most Valuable Player), for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He lead the team to the championship in basketball and won it all. Earlier that year Lebron came back to Cleveland Cavaliers from the Miami Heat with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Why leave when you have a big 3 on your team? He said he wanted to go home for his last few years of basketball. If you ask me I think he'll be in the league for at least more 5 years. Lebron is seventh on all time scoring 200 point over Shaquille O'Neal.

Gloria James, now at the age of 19, was now on her own due to her mom’s death. She was getting support from food stamps and living in friends’ and families’ houses. LeBron remembered her always working during night shifts and says, “Sometimes I went to be not knowing if I was going to her in the morning” (sportsnet.ca). At a very young age, Lebron showed signs of interest in basketball. His mother bought him a mini hoop along with a ball and she and her brothers would watch him play with the set for hours everyday. Being that he had an unstable home life LeBron had a difficult time at school with making friends and using his intelligence for academics. The only outlet for him was his two favorite sports basketball and football. He was naturally fast, quick, and strong and he now was quickly developing his talents. In his first year of Pee Wee football, “he scored 19 touchdowns in 6 games” (jockbio.com). He was coached by Frankie Walker and played on the team with Walker’s son, Frankie Jr. Postseason Walker started to hear LeBron wasn’t attending school and had dropped out as a result of his unstable living home environment as Gloria James explained to coach Walker. Both Gloria and Frankie decided the best plan for LeBron
The first few seconds of your first earthquake are disconcerting. You don’t know what’s happening. The undulation, the noise, the inability to focus -- it’s all disconcerting. But once you’ve been in a few, you know the feeling. You don’t relax, but you don’t panic, either.
I was feeling very nervous and worried when I was sitting on the long brown rectangular table in a huge red conference room. Four competitions were sitting by me waiting for the decision of the next LeBron 19. Whoever was chosen had the honor of LeBron to wear them in the NBA Finals. The Nike designer opened the door and I felt a wave of cold air come in. I was sweating and my heart was thumping as fast as the speed of light. Mike, the Nike designer, came in and sat on the blue chair. He is very nice and cooperative. Mike said that they have made the final decision. There was a huge crowd in Cleveland PAC was waiting for the release. Mike stood up and said congratulations to me. I was slick, shiny, comfortable, self-lacing,

Millions of kids look up to him and do certain things just because of him. He has changed the way the game is played and has changed the lives of many people. Just from being a little kid born in Akron Ohio with a single mother to where he is today as one of the greatest to everplay is incredible. That's why LeBron James is my hero.
